I am the author of more than forty published crime novels. The first, The Greenway, was nominated for both the Authors’ club award and the CWA John Creasey for best debut novel.

I’m constantly amazed at where life has taken me. Writing had never been on my ‘possible careers’ list, but once stories take root in your brain, they just have to be told - and I feel very fortunate that people want to read them.

I have written several series featuring DI MIke Croft, Ex DI Ray Flowers, amateur sleuth Rina Martin, Ex DS Naomi Blake, Merrow and Clarke, Rozlyn Priest and, a series set in the 1920s, featuring DCI Henry Johnstone and DS Mickey Hitchens, plus several standalone novels

In addition to writing I teach creative writing, read and mentor for The Literary Consultancy, am a Royal Literary Fund Fellow and FRSA.

    Having really enjoyed the Mike Croft series by Jane Adams, I decided that I would try her new Clarke & Merrow series. It was a terrific read and is beautifully written and a true page-turner. Right from the first chapter, you could feel the tension start to build as you were pulled into the world of criminal gangs and a cold evil that made you shudder. The story itself focused much more on the action, with the police part of it being kept to a minimum as the reader becomes involved in what is happening. This was a unique perspective which I found remarkably interesting and extremely enjoyable. Being kept in the loop all the way through was rewarding and helped build the excitement of the plot. I really enjoyed the chase and there was an overall sense of fear as Lauren Sykes’ father got ever closer to finding her. The last seven chapters were short, fast paced and gripping. The ending was a very well plotted conclusion and left nothing unfinished. I am sure there will be more from this new pair and I looking forward to reading them. Another great read from this brilliant author.

    I do not think that people think things like family feuds and controlling parents occurs these days but it does. This book shows the worst side of a criminal fraternity with legitimate businesses. It makes a good read but disappointed it did not have more emails in the conclusions.
