#1 Vampire Thriller

TOP TEN--Paranormal and Urban Fantasy

I was mesmerized by the setting and community/lifestyle we get a peek at in the desert. Hunter doesn't shy away from bringing the wrongs of the world into her story and making your heart ache with the injustices.
--This Literary Life

It's mysterious, romantic, and full of faith, hope, and love. Carwyn and Brigid are perfect for each other.
--Norma's Nook

Hunter's passion for intertwining facts, storylines and the paranormal are superior - it keeps you involved, it makes you care, has you rooting, laughing, holding your breath and then saying WHAT DO YOU MEAN I FINISHED IT?
--Danielle, Goodreads reviewer

We get Carwyn's optimism and wit with Brigid's fiery personality. Their banter is on point.
--Kate, Goodreads reviewer

I love where this new series is going and I can't wait to read more.
--M.J. Goodreads reviewer

Is it too cheesy to call this an explosive new series? Because, well...as it turns out, when you have a fire
and an earth elemental vampire teaming up to solve a mystery, things can get...rocky.
--Kathryn, Goodreads reviewer

This book is so fantastic I couldn't put it down. If you aren't familiar with this couple, this is a great introduction. If you are familiar with them, hurry up and get this book! You'll be so happy you did.

Carwyn and Brigid embark on a new adventure

Carwyn and Brigid embark on a new adventure
When I first learnt that Carwyn would get his own book, I was sceptical of him being the male lead in a paranormal romance book. He appeared as a supporting character in the Elemental Mystery series, which is Giovanni and Beatrice’s story. He is one of Gio’s oldest friends, and at that time he was a priest in the Roman Catholic church. Aside from that he was described as being generally very laid-back, possessing the most garish collection of Hawaian shirts and being addicted to watching American Wrestling. So he seemed much more in the friend zone than a possible lover. That changed when together with his vampire son he rescued an abused girl that then became part of his son’s family. At this point there was little actual contact between the girl, and later, when Brigid had grown into a young woman, they only saw each other infrequently. To Brigid, Carwyn always seemed larger than life and unattainable. Being plagued by the demons of her past, Brigid fell into drug use, and even though she succeeded in shaking the habit, one relapse was enough to change her life forever. When her foster mother Deirdre found her near death after an accidental overdose, she couldn’t bear the thought of losing Brigid, too, only months after losing her mate of several hundred years, so in a act of desperation she changed Brigid. Only Brigid didn’t take on the element of her sire, but instead woke up as a fire vampie, the most volatile element and the most difficult to control… While helping Brigid to cope with her new reality, Carwyn realizes that he is not as invested in the priesthood as he was for over a thousand years, and that he yearns to have a mate, especially as he sees Brigid blossom… This story is told in Building from Ashes and you should absolutely read it before you embark on Saint’s Passage. In Saint’s Passage Brigid and Carwyn have been mated for several years, and Brigid is still working as a security expert for Murphy, the vampire in charge of Dublin (and Ireland). Carwyn was never too keen on Brigid spending so much time with Murphy and as Brigid lately hasn’t felt challenged enough in her work for Murphy (things just run so smoothly), Carwyn takes the opportunity to tempt Brigid into embarking on a new adventure with him. Carwyn has been asked by a friend from his priesthood days to help locate a young girl that has gone missing from LA. Nobody believes she just ran away, but what at first seemed a simpled finding and retrival case soon becomes more complicated as it turns out she is not the only young girl that has gone missing…What I especially love about Carwyn and Brigid is their dynamic, in which Brigid is the tough one, the one who doesn’t want to get emotionally involved with people and invested in politics, and the literal firecracker, whereas Carwyn is the compassionate busybody who wants to just help people (even if it is not strictly his business), but while being nice and caring, he also still manages to appear sexy and manly. So it is no surprise that instead of just retrieving an errand teenager Brigid and Carwyn soon find themselves embroiled with a child-traffcking ring out in the Mojave desert…Despite the rather dark topics this book touched on, I felt overall it was rather lighter in tone than for instance the more recent Elemental Legacy books (featuring Ben and Tenzin), mostly because of Carwyn’s irrepressible good nature and his irreverent sense of humor! Looking forward to more Carwyn and Brigid adventures! 4 ½ stars.

Well done! Couldn't stop reading until I finished it. Romance, love, fully formed, interesting characters, and a great mystery. Recommend it highly.

Saint’s Passage by Elizabeth Hunter
Elemental Covenant series #1. Paranormal mystery. Spin off from other Elemental series. Can be read without starting with the other Elemental series.
Carwyn Bryn and Brigid Connor are elemental and altruistic vampires. Having already lived a long life, they now focus on righting wrongs and helping the lost.
In this first book of the series, Carwyn and Brigid search for a runaway teen and uncover a potential slavery ring. They will shut it down and hopefully not blow anything up.

Amusing characters and dialog.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook version narrated by Sean William Doyle who performs the full Covenant series and the Legacy series. The Irish accents that are used for Carwyn and Brigid are wonderful and the sarcasm and joking between the two is so entertaining. I enjoyed listening to this book while occasionally following along in the ebook.

First of all, I have not read any of the Elemental series and so was a bit nervous that I would be unable to enjoy this book without that background. Not true! This story reads easily as a standalone. Carwyn and Brigid are a great couple and a perfect pair to help a stubborn teenager with a seemingly impossible lost cause. Brigid is Irish and I think Carwyn is from Wales, but the story takes p!ace in Southern California. It is quite a page-turner for sure, and I really loved it. The next one will be released next year and I already cannot wait! If you are turned off by books about vampires, this may not be for you, but I was never a big fan of vampire stories, and yet this one caught me up almost from the first few pages. It was different from the average thriller and a lot more fun too. I follow this talented author and also enjoy some of her other (non- vampire) series as well. I am happy to recommend Saint's Passage as a great summer read....maybe on the beach!

Is it too cheesy to call this an explosive new series? Because, well...as it turns out, when you have a fire and an earth elemental vampire teaming up to solve a mystery, things can get...rocky. Rambunctious. Sometimes, even, a little ridiculous - but long-time readers of Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental series will know I mean that in the best of ways.

Brigid and Carwyn are some of my favorite characters, and I am so happy to see them getting their own series - especially now that they’ve both had the chance to settle into their relationship, and Brigid into her place in immortal society.

As it turns out, however, there can be such a thing as *too* settled, and Carwyn at least is beginning to think they both need a change of pace. And possibly occupation. And location. And what better time to sort all that out, than in the midst of chasing a missing persons case across a foreign country and possibly tripping into a human trafficking scheme? No sweat.

The story itself starts a little slowly, but never fear - what starts as a simple “find and retrieval” mission builds into a rather spectacular showdown. Time and sequels alone will tell what consequences (and, hopefully, greater challenges) will come from Brigid and Carwyn’s choices, both in the human and immortal worlds...but I’m personally excited to find out!

A note for new readers: While Saint’s Passage is technically a standalone book, I would recommend first reading at least Building From Ashes, Brigid and Carwyn’s “origin” story, and possibly the Elemental Mysteries quartet, to get the most out of the story. Saint’s Passage does take place chronologically last in the Elemental series, so there are some spoilers for earlier books.

Thank you Elizabeth Hunter for this new series. Love, action and adventure, kept me entertained and wishing the next book was ready for release ASAP. However, all good things come to those who wait, so I’m patiently looking forward to Autumn 2021. Husband and wife team, Carwyn ap Bryn and Brigid Connor are one of my favourite couples and I’m thrilled they have their own series. This story contains many thoughtful moments, love, caring communities, humour and putting right to wrongs. I love that the story refers to previous characters and who knows, maybe they’ll be included in future adventures with Caryn and Brigid, I do hope so. Fingers crossed for many more books, so we too can follow and enjoy the couples zany new adventures. I’m a big Elizabeth Hunter fan and have enjoyed all her work, I have given 5 well deserved golden stars and can’t wait for the audiobooks release 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I am so happy to have been in the Elemental World with Carwyn and Brigid again. This is a superb story, I would have liked a little more Vampire fantasy if I was being really honest. This was a little more real world than I often like to read but the story writing is as wonderful as always and took me along with it. Carwyn is, as usual, full of his worldly humour and Brigid is there to keep him in check. This definitely needs to be on your reading list!

I luv these characters & they just flow together so well & it's an insightful tale that could be based on fact on so many levels ! What an incredible shift into a differing lifestyle & couldn't put the book down. Elizabeth Hunter is once again brilliant [never to be doubted on that fact] & seems to know how to weave the mystery of these two leading Vampires into a book that's glued in your hand lol !!
