Sal Hutton books a trip to Cancún on a whim. Needing some time off from work, he sees an opportunity to go and takes it—alone. After a red-eye flight and full of excitement for what he might experience over the next week, he strikes up a conversation with the handsome taxi driver who gives him a ride to his hotel, and hopes their paths cross again.

Derrik Green came to Cancún for a vacation, and two years later is still here, after falling in love with the city and its people. He’s working as a taxi driver and is happier than ever. After dropping off the man named Sal, he can’t stop thinking about him, and hopes that eventually he’ll call, even if it’s just to hire him for a ride or private tour. Soon their wish comes true and they’re spending time together, enjoying all the sights and adventures Cancun has to offer.

Sal and Derrik weren’t looking for love, but maybe they were meant to meet here, half a world away from their regular lives, and right in the middle of a tropical paradise. With so many people behind them, they might just get their happily ever after under starry nights and surrounded by the beautiful blue Caribbean.

BL Maxwell grew up in a small town listening to her grandfather spin tales about his childhood. Later she became an avid reader and after a certain vampire series she became obsessed with fanfiction. She soon discovered Slash fanfiction and later discovered the MM genre and was hooked.

Many years later, she decided to take the plunge and write down some of the stories that seem to run through her head late at night when she’s trying to sleep.

    This was a page-turner, easy to read, and the story was compelling and a joy to share. My only issue was that the dialogue felt somewhat out of character for the two men, who were immediately happy together. For Salt, or Sal, the realization that Lime was meant for him came quickly. The two enjoyed each other's company, and it didn't feel like just a fling.

    Instead, this was a story of two men destined for each other, showcasing such compatibility and a deep understanding of one another's needs. The overnight 'silence period' seemed somewhat out of character and created more angst for me than it did for the characters.

    It's not normal for me to purchase a book from an author I've not read before, or known about. But the blurb was so compelling for a bright sunny day; I wanted to share in that happiness. So rather than Kindle Unlimited, I paid for it.

    I look forward to exploring the writing of B.L. Maxwell in the future.

    Derrick came to Cancun for a vacation and loved it so much that he never went back. Sal decides to to vacation ton Cancun on a whim. He really needs a break from real life. This was a really sweet read! Two guys not looking for love but it found them anyway! Overall, a really good read! It was well written! I had the opportunity to listen to this audio version narrated by Douglas Wilkin, he did a really good job. Each voice was clear and distinct.

    A short insta-love m/m story. I liked all the characters especially the main ones, Sal’s conversation with a young man on a plane expressed his caring nature and Derrek’s friendliness was genuine and showed why he was well liked.

    Such an absolutely refreshing story, BL Maxwell's 'Salt and LIme' is a delightful short that's just perfect for enjoying in full before bedtime. We meet Sal Hutton who seizes an opportunity to travel to Cancun all by himself. He meets a gay taxi driver Derrick ' Lime' Green who happens to be both charming and handsome. It becomes obvious throughout the tale that Sal Hutton was so through with the rut his life was in and is so ready for a permanent change.
    The relationship he develops with the driver can be seen as a drowning man desperately in need of saving. Lime is just the man to throw him a lifeline and he hauls Sal right in. That Derrick had experience with a need for a life change is noted in the narrative. He found himself in an academic program at college that didn't mesh with his expectations. Cancun became his refuge and its vibes and rhythms were just what he needed at that time in his life. It can be rationally surmised that he recognized Sal's need when encountering him.
    I love that the writer gave us readers just what we needed in the story. The scenes were not stretched out, there was no over-explaining the men and their choices including their decision to spend time with one another. The sex between them was delightfully hot and in many ways sweet. I found myself sincerely believing this story. It was truly plausible given what we know about the men. Salt and Lime ends in a way that brought tears to my eyes and the epilogue is simply fantastic. Add to this an absolutely perfect narrator named Douglas Wilkin! Well done!

    I really liked this short audio/novella. Sweet instant connection that led to strong feelings/love between two lovely guys. Not only their names connected them but both recognizing their similarities. The narrator was good with voices...nice tone and made this extra enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone who love sweet romances.
