I’m about as straitlaced and by the book as they come. They call me Numbers, the man in the office of Burgers and Brew, the restaurant and bar I co-own with my friends. Routine and spreadsheets, that’s how I spend my day. I’m a creature of habit, from the designer clothes to the same girlfriend, I crave the pattern I’ve become dependent on.


Until said girlfriend breaks up with me for the umpteenth time, and I find refuge in a woman who is my exact opposite.

I’m intrigued and completely out of my element, yet that doesn’t stop me from spending time with her. Even if I consider her off-limits, something about her calls to me.

The problem is I just might lose a friend because of it.

Most of the time, I would never look twice at Isaac Thompson. He’s all suits, ties, and expensive dress shoes, and I’m…well, not. My time is spent at the tattoo studio I work at, day and night, designing badass ink for clients who want the best. I have no room in my life for a relationship, nor do I care for the messes they always create.

Until Isaac finds me stranded on the road, and I end up inviting him inside.

Now, I can’t stop thinking about him. He’s so different from any man I’ve ever known, which is why we decide to keep it casual and fun.

Let’s just hope I can keep feelings out of the arrangement, so I don’t get burned.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 STEAM: 🔥🔥🔥 I love a good opposites-attract book, and this read fits that trope to a T. Isaac's on-and-off girlfriend has left him..again, and this time, she's also had some cutting words about his business and his friends, two things that matter a lot to him. He can't exactly brood at home over his broken heart; today is the opening party of the brewery he owns with his best friends. After taking a few shots with BJ, his best friend's sister, one thing led to another..and here we go. But they're not exactly the match made in heaven (or are they?). Isaac is clean-cut, by-the-book accountant who lives in three-piece suits and stark condos. BJ is a tattoo artist with pink-streaked hair and a vibrant apartment. What could these two possibly have in common other than they are explosive hot in bed? You will need to read the book to find out. 😉 Lacey Black always has a penchant to create the most down-to-earth characters, and Isaac and BJ are no different. They are caring and super-protective of the people they care about. I like that they actually admire each other's opposite traits instead of humoring or tolerating it. The pace of the book is well done for the most part. I love that it hits the ground running with the spice, and there was minimal back-and-forth with the drama. This is the third book in the series, but it did really well as a standalone.

    Another awesome read. This time, it's Numbers, aka Isaac. His on again/off again, girlfriend has decided that they're off again on a big night for Isaac. The brewery's grand opening. Isaac is a little bit peeved, so he gets a little drunk with the help of BJ, Jameson's sister. BJ, tattoo artist extraordinaire never really felt any attraction to her brother's friend until he helped her out after the grand opening. One thing leads to another, and it's a secret friend with bennies situation.
    Loved the interactions, well plotted storylines, Lizzie, and all the other friends and loved ones.

It was like the author was stuck and didn’t know how to organically get them together so they just randomly had sex the night of the brewery opening. But after that everything was beautiful.     YES! I have been waiting for Isaac to get his HEA and I am so glad he found that with BJ. In previous books he was with Savannah (who totally sucks as a person btw), so I was so happy that he found love with a woman that is the complete opposite of what he pictured for his future.     I’m really loving this series but this is the best book so far IMO. (Although I can’t wait for Jameson’s book!!).

    I’ve always liked Isaac but I adored BJ. She was an awesome heroine. I loved the intense attraction these two suddenly felt for one another. They were polar opposites but they were just so good together. I loved how their relationship developed. You could truly feel these two falling in love even though they both said they only wanted something casual. This story was pretty suspenseful for me. I really couldn’t put it down. (Spoilers ahead)

    Isaac of course jumps to conclusions and does something stupid without talking to BJ first breaking both of their hearts—and I will say I was really frustrated with him at that point. But once again… it’s Jameson to the rescue with his words of wisdom (God I can’t wait til his book!!). Anyway—I LOVED the ending and the epilogue made me so happy!!

    I didn't know what to expect from Isaacs book so it really took me by surprise. I think this is my favourite so far I love Beej characters they were just perfect for each other.     Like the saying goes "Don't judge the book by its cover" well Isaac and BJ are nothing like their appearances. Isaac may be a straight laced dresser but has a wild sex crazed side to him. And BJ may be tattooed and love wild hair styles but is the most affectionate and loving person. They compliment each other in ways you would never think.

    Same Ol' Situation the third story in Lacey Blacks wonderfully fun and sexy Burgers and Brew Crüe series serves up a delightful opposites attract romance between plain, hard working, serious numbers guy Isaac and BJ, Jameson's sister a tattoo artist who rocks multiple piercings, colourful hair and tattoos.

    And it is a great read, although I did find it a little hard to get into, as before Isaac hasn't been my favourite character. Yet that soon changed as this story developed and he shed the horrible Savannah and started spending time with BJ, who I loved.

    Furthermore, there was very little drama, plenty of sexiness, banter and fun moments. Not to mention great secondary characters and I was genuinely sucked in and really rooting for BJ and Isaac to realise how perfect they were for each other.

    Would happily recommend.

    This book will definitely get your blood racing before you realize what’s happening. My only bone to pick is the detail of Lyns (book 2) birthday being Christmas Eve then again in the spring. If you can look past that and a few other small errors you won’t regret reading it.
