You never quite know what to expect of a new LitRPG series. The great ones capture the feelings of discovery and awe you get when playing a new, well designed MMO and suck you in to their progression the same way action RPGs do with their perfectly handled loot progression. They take the best things about games and bring them to fully realized virtual worlds, empowering you to experience, through literature, what it is impossible to enjoy today due to technological limitations.

This is not one of those books. The standard collection of RPG elements – experience gain, crafting, and the like – are all included, but they aren't taken very seriously and certainly aren't the focus of the narrative. If you're here for the type of experience I've described above, you'll be disappointed. This is a fantasy novel with gaming elements, and not the other way around.

The world of Amaranth is deep and interesting, often warping standard fantasy tropes in unique and unusual ways. It is violent, too, sometimes disturbingly so. Savagery was an expectation given its title, and it doesn't shy away from it.

The main character is likeable, as is his supporting cast. These are characters that you want to root for. Their growth from cautious allies to friends and comrades is natural and one of the story's highlights.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next book in the series. I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a well written, character driven dark fantasy novel.

Loved the story. The dialogue between the character is so very well done and absolutely hilarious. My only complaint is that LitRPG is basically just thrown in, every foe is a "legendary foe" and allows the MC to get stat boosts, but it really doesn't contribute much of anything to the overall story. There are a few powers which are very cool, but they don't rank up and the ranks mean absolutely nothing. MC ranks up to 10/10 in swords and brawling.... and it means nothing in the way of the story at all. Just kill it or actually go into depth in the story... still a massive fan and will be reading the rest.

I am pleasantly surprised how much I liked this book. I love litrpg and fantasy but more often than not they're filled with graphic sex and a droning use of the f word(Which I absolutely hate) or just feeling icky from the moral perversion.
This had none of that. Innuendo jokes galore but the banter of the characters was so fun to read. And action held a good pace. I liked Maulkin, he gets things done.
And I liked that for an litrpg it doesn't get bogged down by stats and figures or how by every exact detail the magic works. A fun read imo. I'd recommend it, especially if you like the d&d genre.

Savage Dominion’s authors, Luke Chmilenko & G. D. Penman collaboratively managed to create a diverse multi-facetted world utilizing rich lore, a diverse cast [ where even the minor characters have something to contribute to the store and find a way all their own to remain memorable – even if they only make one appearance throughout the entirety of the book.]

Their unique take on the human psyche showcase that not everyone is meant for the greatness that they are forced to inherit, we as the readers get insight regarding the inner workings of the castes’ mind, showcasing the inherent flaws that make each individual unique and timeless. Lastly, the character growth system is unique in it's own right and possesses a depth to it that ensures that each person can be heavily customized in order to suit their immediate needs.

This LitRPG is Portal Fantasy. MC dies on earth and is reborn into another world with some help of the gods. While this is similar to many other starts the exact details are fairly new and creative compared to many others hint hint death by vehicle while crossing the road.

In the beginning of the story it was nice to see that the authors may have chosen to follow a suggestion I saw on Reddit. They explained not only the race the MC chose but also the other races in the world and gave some information about them right from the beginning.

The main story quest may not be the most original, but it works. Where the book really shines is the devastated world that the characters are thrown into and what they have to go through. The character and skill choices that the characters have to make are fairly unique and creative. It's interesting to see how they use the skills in their adventures.

The characters are enjoyable each and their own way. The main characters personality gives a great deal of humor and comic relief to how serious and brutal the story can be. Which brings me to the one small downside I really had with the book. Even though there is more than just straight up fighting, the majority of the book is pretty much just battle after battle after battle. There are a few spots here and there in the book where it's not the case but it tends to be a lot of it.

In the end I'll probably read the next book.

It took me a while to get around to this series, but I'm glad that I finally did. Luke has been one of my favorites in this genre, and he and G. D. delivered. Overall, good pacing, action, and humor throughout. Found myself laughing out loud through a few different parts. I do enjoy the banter between the different characters, and to me, it makes it feel like I was listening in on a group of friends ribbing on each other. Even through that, there is some good character development and serious moments throughout. Thought the world building was good and not too overly done. Going to burn through the rest of this series in a few days.

I don’t know how many times i have thought about what it would be like to live a video game and this book does it. The characters are amazing, the personalities are full and relatable, the world they are in is complex but still understandable. Amazingly written and a fantastic read definitely recommend this book to everyone.

Well what a simply stunning read. There is not a single aspect of this book I didn't love. The four main characters, Maulkin, Asher, Mercy and Seren all work together very well. Malkin's gung ho attitude that some how works, Mercy's snarky comments brilliantly keeping Maulkin in place, Asher's frustration at Mercy and Mauklin's bickering, and Seren's superiority complex, all superbly done. The creatures and monsters are great and make for some really original fights. What makes the book so utterly compelling is the world building and the lore surrounding it, Very detailed and beautifully realised, with hopefully a lot more to be revealed. While this is a gamelit book, the stats are kept to a minimum and only come up when they should. A fantastic book that both gamelit or fantasy fans should be able to really enjoy. Bring on book Two.
