- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2019I was very hesitant to purchase this book at first because of the many low and sometimes bad reviews but I was intrigued by the description and decided to purchase it anyway and oh my gosh I am so glad I did.
I have no idea what these negative reviewers were talking about so I felt definitely needed to write an honest review and clear up some things for any new future potential readers. There were almost no grammatical errors. And the author didn’t mess up any names. The story was easy to follow and there was no confusion and didn’t feel lost at any given moment as to what was going on. I am sooooo glad and happy I bought this book. Niko and Ethan’s story was very moving and heartwarming. Niko is in no way a douche. He does have a problem coming out but he doesn’t turn away from Ethan and decides to risk getting hurt. He comes around and his love for Ethan gives me the courage he needs to be honest to himself and his friends/family. The sex scenes could use more improvement. They are rushed and not enough sexy, hot and sweaty. I want to feel like I am about to combust from reading but it’s not the case. There are still a lot of sweet moments between the MCs.
Totally recommend this book. This an awesome and sweet love story. The writing was good and can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Ben is next and I already purchased the book lol.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016This is the first book that I've read by Pauline and I am happy to have found this book as well a new author for me. As soon as I read the blurb, I couldn't wait to start it and I wasn't disappointed. These two characters were interesting to me. Both had ruff lives and it was enjoying to see how they came together. A few parts felt a little rushed in the turn-around, but it wasn't overly dramatic or forced, which I liked. Overall, I gave it 4 stars, but it's closer to 4.5. I'm anxiously awaiting for the next in the series. There were a lot of secondary characters that I would like to see get their own story, most especially Ben. He has a story and I believe it could be extraordinary if done right. Good luck!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2016This was a good book. The reason I gave it 3 instead of 4 stars is due to editing mistakes. Those types of things usually don't bother me but mixing up the main character names can be confusing and makes you wonder if it happened in less obvious times. (obvious ones were where Ethan was getting ready to do a tattoo.) I really enjoyed the story and a good proof read/edit would make this a solid 4 stars. Niko is a bad@ss on the outside but inside is softy who selflessly takes care of those who are important to him. Ethan is strong but needs help getting out of a bad situation. The story eludes to why Niko is insistent that he's straight but I would have liked just a little more to help explain it sense it was such a big part of the story. Sexy times are hot and well done. There's a great supporting cast and I will definitely pick up the next book to read whoever's story is next.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2016I just wish it was longer!!! This story was so great, I wanted more. I can SO see this being a terrific insta-wet series. The relationship between Niko and Ethan was so HOT and powerful it took them both by surprise. Something tells me we haven't heard the last of them. All the characters had their own sexy characteristics that looked like they had captivating back stories. We need a series with these type of men. Great story, fantastic characters. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2016First thing loved the character depth, the writer actually took the time to flesh them out so that you can understand their feelings. Would of given 5 stars but for some editing mistakes, but they don't effect the read. Hoping for a series of books because the supporting characters are just as interesting as the main ones!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2016Ethan is trying to better his life. He has made some bad decisions. The best one he has made was when he walked into a Tattoo Parlor. Niko has had a rough past. He is judged based on what he looks like. Ethan wants Niko, but does Niko share the same feelings? Ethan wants a relationship but Niko doesn’t want anything. He is scared from his past on what people will think of him if he starts a relationship with Ethan. What will push Niko to say enough is enough and be with Ethan. Will anything be able to push Niko from his boundaries? Will Ethan be able to trust Niko from what has happened in his past? Will they both be able to let go? I loved reading to find out what happens. I have re-read this book. It was a great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 20193 stars for Savior: A Tattered Club Story by Pauline Allan. This is book one in the Tattered Social Club series. This is also a M/M romance between Niko and Ethan. Niko has a dark past and is now one of the most requested tattoo artists around. He also is a famous graffiti artist. Ethan is described as a twink, who has not had it easy. He is currently living with a sugar daddy because his parents kicked him out when they found out he was gay. He has scars all over from cutting and he also has a dark relationship with his sugar daddy. Niko refuses to admit he is gay. All that changes when he first sees Ethan. He wants Ethan more than he has ever wanted anybody. Ethan wants Niko but he also doesn’t want another relationship where he has to be hidden.
Ok so the reason I gave this book 3 stars is a few things. I felt the story line could have been developed a little more. Also, the author makes this huge deal about how Ethan is a twink – he is 19 almost 20 years old. I just don’t see that as a twink. Also, the book seems to elaborate a big age difference between these two when really is it only 5 years. Those are my only complaints. I enjoyed the romance between these two characters. I like the m/m genre and have recently became a bigger fan. If you what a short read, then this book would be a good choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
What a great book with great characters and a beautiful love story. Niko is a fierce protector, gifted artist, loyal friend, and is totally hung up on Ethan. Ethan is a bit shy, innocent but also more worldly than he should be, a student, in need of a protector, and totally in love with Niko. Both let down by their biological families they find their found family at the Tattered Social Club. Throughout this book Niko and Ethan work through overcoming their fears and insecurities, and learn who and what they want from life. I loved this book because it portrays two beautiful souls coming together through their obstacles to get to their HEA.
I just love a HEA. 🙂👍 Highly recommend this book if you like sweet, angsty, a little bit rough, a little bit tender romance. And hot definitely 🔥 hot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Savior
3.5 stars rounded up to 4. As with other reviews there are some definite editing errors. Completely wrong word use, recanted instead of recited, plutonic instead of platonic. Some sentences seemed to be half finished. Also, maybe just me, but I was confused and lost in some parts of the story. Very frustrating when this story could’ve been a 5 star read with the some editing and beta reading. That being said, I did enjoy it for the most part and will be reading book 2 next.

4.0 out of 5 stars new author
i enjoyed this book and look forward to the next. However i found at times it was a little disjointed as if the author thought she had written a scene but hadnt,or she needed to impart information so just added a random few sentences.although it distracted me a little it hasnt put me off buying the next in the series.hopefully these rough edges will be smoothed a little with the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent tale with intriguing MCs, let down only by the poor editing.
Even though there wasn't a huge amount of plot here and the author could've definitely given us more of a backstory to the MCs, I still found this an intriguing tale of two polar opposite and pretty complex men each with their own demons to overcome, trying to manoeuvre their way around their increasing attraction to one another. Out and proud Ethan has just run from an abusive relationship where he has been trapped in a situation resulting in his self-harming, when he meets Niko, a brilliant tattooist who is so in denial about his sexuality, he can barely stand to admit it to himself.
I thought the ST and chemistry between these two was pretty hot, albeit a tad instalove-y. The fact that the skinny blonde twink was (mainly) the top in this one, as opposed to the tatted up muscle-bound God, also peaked my interest, as I enjoy a slightly atypical relationship in my m/m romance. And I felt that the camaraderie between all the characters at TSC tattoo shop also added to the overall story and provided some much needed familial warmth, not to mention some macho – and pretty hot - heroics.
However, I personally felt this book was let down by the lack of proof-reading. I'm not normally such a pedant about typos, grammatical errors etc, if it doesn't get in the way of an otherwise good story, but there was just one too many mistakes here including my biggest niggle when reading, when the author confuses the characters names, e.g. at 29% into the story Ethan tried calling Ethan on the phone, while introducing himself to Frank (when it should've been Niko calling Ethan), and again at 33% where Ethan is carrying Ethan’s boxes (again, should've been Niko). This actually goes on to happen a couple more times throughout the book, which had me rereading certain passages and pulling me from the book momentarily and therefore ruining the flow. That said, we do get some beautiful declarations of love, a realistic coming out scene and HFN for these guys, not to mention the ending is set up nicely for book 2 which I'm definitely interested in reading, especially if the focus is on the enigmatic Mitch? I only hope the author invests in a good proof-reader by then.
