Scar Tissue (Growing Pains Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.9 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

Will’s college debut didn’t go to plan, and now everything he ever wanted is up in smoke.

He no longer has a boyfriend, nor does he think he’ll ever be capable of being in a relationship after his last one ended in an epic explosion. His leg is messed up, and he’s banned from volleyball until it gets better. If it gets better. And he now has to juggle physical therapy with his regular therapy, and deal with his ex-boyfriend approaching him seeking closure. Not to mention he’s in love with his best friend, who he recently turned down and now thinks Will could never have feelings for him…

Yet somehow, losing everything isn’t as bad as he was expecting. All he has to do is keep his head on straight, get better, and not act on the urge to kiss his best friend every time their eyes meet… All of which are much harder than he thought they would be.

Scar Tissue is the final book in L. Sherleen's lgbt contemporary romance series, Growing Pains, and should be read after the first two books.

I loved this trilogy! The growth of Will from a people-pleasing 17-year-old with self-destructive coping techniques to a confident, happy young adult in a healthy relationship was SO gratifying to see. I felt so invested in him that I’m like a proud mom at the end, ha ha. The rough spots along the way just made the end all the more rewarding!

I really enjoyed this whole series. Will has grown so much from book one to book three. He is no longer the flirty, frightened, and self conscious student. Now, he is heeling, growing, and becoming optimistic about his future. His relationship from Dune has been such a treat to read. The slow burn romance was done well. They are a couple that is built to last and just work really well as a pair. It was a sweeter, easier read than the previous installments. It was a wonderful conclusion to some great characters.

The long awaited conclusion to the series, I have been looking forward to this.

Taking place a few weeks after the last book, we're in the middle of Will's recovery and his slow building pining after Dune.

I liked the sweet and natural nature of their friendship, the subtle searching of contact, the flirting that never ceased because it's just how they are.
This is a slow burn as the rest of the series have been, there is no rushing in to things, it's been building over time and it's a pleasant release when they find together.

Dune is the calm to Will's erratic mind, which is proven again and again. And while I initially had another ending in mind, I'm very happy with what we got.

I love Will's support system, his friends, Dune's family and the character development of his father and sister.

The reckoning I've been waiting for came, though it didn't dominate the book as I thought it would.

Really great writing. I love how their relationship developed. Couldn’t put this down till I finished the whole series. Awesome, give this series a try.
