Scarred Melody
Bold Melodies Book One
Elsie
All I knew was music. Writing it, playing it. The sway of the melody traveled through me. It kept me company as I hid my face under a mask.
My dream of singing in front of the crowds was long forgotten. Now I hide in the shadows, only emerging to help fellow artists launch their careers.
Enter Skyler Dalton, my teenage heartthrob.
Skyler
My best friend died. My last album bombed. I punched out a paparazzi.
Life hasn’t been going my way.
The label offered an ultimatum, work with a professional songwriter to salvage my solo career or hit the road.
Luckily, Elsie was easy to work with. I wasn’t looking for love, but what I found was a lot more than just a new song...

About the author

My love affair with romance novels began when I was twelve. I was at a discount bookstore in my hometown and saw Julie Garwood’s ‘The Prize’ on sale for 30% off. The cover drew me in; it was colorful and sparkly. The story entranced me. It wasn’t long before I read everything she’d ever written. She made me feel and I craved that.
Characters became my best friends. Alternative worlds became my most reliable coping mechanism. In high school, I stayed up all night reading and skipped school the next day, hiding in my bedroom so my parents didn’t even know I was truant. Hey, a little subterfuge is necessary in pursuing a passion!
In college I fell under the spell of ‘writing is not a career, do something more reliable,’ and pursued psychology. Luckily, there’s no such thing as a wasted education (not that my student loans would agree—eeep!). Throughout this time, I kept feeding my reading obsession. I collected books like the curator of a library. The entire time I knew, in the back of my mind, I was supposed to be writing about characters finding each other and overcoming adversity.
When my father died in 2009, my priorities became clear. Life was too short to not do what we love. Damn the consequences (and low paycheck!). Thus started my bumbling path in pursuit of creating stories I love.
My obsession with science fiction shows such as Star Trek, Stargate and Battlestar Galactica inspired stories about space aliens and other worlds. I wrote my first novel ‘The Flare’ about a young alien escaping tyranny on her home planet with the help of a man from Earth.
Then, an obsession with all the sexiness that is Benjamin Burnley (lead singer of Breaking Benjamins) led me to writing rockstar romances. I am currently writing ‘Sing a Song for Me’ about a talented songwriter and an older rock star.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2022This is my first time reading this author and she did an amazing job with this story. I just kept swiping my kindle because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. Elsie was in a vehicle accident with her mother and sadly her mother passed away, but it left scars on her face and body. It's a shame when people don't know how to keep their mouths shut from spewing hurtful words, but Elsie and her amazing talent with music is what keeps her going. Skylar lost a great buddy and friend and band mate and tried to produce an album on his own, but it tanked and that's where his manager comes in and sends him to Elsie for help. There are other instances that happen throughout and I will just let you read them all for yourselves. Happy reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2022This author touched on a lot of issues, making this book stand out to me. I loved the complexity of Elsie and Skyler was a good example of the brooding rocker with his own set of issues.
They were sweet together as they worked through their romance and the difficulties that come with fame. I rooted for them the whole journey.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2022I just found this book yesterday and finished it today. I’m already missing Elsie and Skyler! It has great character development and you really feel for Elisie and what she’s gone thru. As for Skyler, wish there were more of his types in the world… looks past the outside imperfections. As you can tell I really got into this book. The author really made these characters come to life. I will be looking up her other books… loved her writing style.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2022I enjoyed this book a lot. It had an interesting and unusual premise, and the author stayed true to that throughout the book. I’m hoping to see more in the near future. My only issues were that the tenses remained uneven throughout. Even in certain paragraphs, present and past tense would mix, occasionally being fairly jarring. Also, there were times when the emotion fell a little flat. In other words, I think the author pulled her punches a little bit and she could have twisted more emotion out of certain scenes. I definitely would recommend this book to friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Read!
One of the best rockstar books I’ve read so far, and believe me that’s saying something since I’ve read so many. Heather E. Andrews really blew this one out the park for me. The main characters were just amazing you could really relate to some of the topics and I especially couldn’t help but fall instantly in love with Elsie’s character. She totally rocked! This is a must read guys!!

5.0 out of 5 stars For The Soul
I really enjoyed reading this novel! It had everything - laugh out loud moments, tears, love and compelling characters. (I’ve already picked a few of the romances in the series that I can see on the horizon/that I hope will appear with their own books!)
This novel sits really well as a first in series. It comes in strong with the feels -my heart ached for both Elsie and Skyler- and delivers with the romance and heat. There’s a wide world to explore from here and it sets the foundations nicely.
I’m looking forward to more!

3.0 out of 5 stars Story was nice, but the grammar/typos very jarring
It was ok, a pleasant read, but sadly nothing special. What didn't help was that there is a clear lack of proof-reading of this book. It is littered with errors, at one point a whole paragraph is practically repeated, words are either missed out or misspelled, one character's name randomly changes towards the end (West becomes Wes), perspectives change - i.e. Skyler talking in first person then swapping to third. To me it shows a lack of care for details like that to be missed. Not sure if I'll read another. I might.
