The Secrets of Scott (A Road to Wonderland Story Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 30 ratings

Scott Jenkins has plans. Plans that don't involve being a nineteen-year-old builder, working long hours at his father's construction company, loading wheelbarrows and stacking bricks in an underpaid job. But as with most things in Scott's world, the dreams and ambitions he has set for himself, don't really go to plan.

When Scott's best mate, Ethan Walker, hits rock bottom, everything changes overnight. After years of trying to figure out his purpose in life, Scott now knows what he has to do, and more importantly, who he has to save. Tiptoeing on the outskirts of a world filled with drugs and violence, Scott ends up walking down paths he never even knew existed. What was once a simple life, suddenly seems incredibly complicated - especially with the arrival of a forbidden love who is determined to make life even more difficult for him.

Follow Scott on his journey to Wonderland, where friendships are tested, relationships are destroyed, and a dangerous woman leaves the guy who once thought he knew exactly what he wanted, in the very pits of despair.

Charlie M. Matthews is a hopeless romantic, lost in her own world of fairy tales and adventures. Mum to three beautiful children, Charlie lives in a small village on the outskirts of Oxfordshire, England. Between school runs and generally doing the whole 'mum' thing, you'll most likely find her relaxing on the sofa in her jammies with a glass of wine and her trusty kindle in her hands. A lover of art and painting, she'd happily trade in her everyday clothes in exchange for a paint smudged shirt, but fate stepped in and took her creativity down a path she never expected. The first time she put pen to paper, a writer was born, and Charlie has never looked back since.

Charlie Matthews took us through the crazy, trash talking, sexy at times mind of Scott Jenkins. This story is about a guy who looks out for everyone else and not for himself. At times he refers to himself as selfish and he is at some point but for the most part, he is so unselfish. I had a lot of emotions going throught my mind as I read his story. There were times that I wanted to hate him but he would turn around and do something that made me fall in love with him again. Scott was a simple man that just wanted to be happy with the one woman that he loved from a very young age and to hang out with his best friend Ethan. Even though they may have never put Scott first in their lives, Scott always put them first in his. Well done Charlie Matthews!

** Provided on behalf of the author for an honest review **

    Meet Scott Jenkins.
As a kid, family life is relatively normal. Scott lives with both parents and his brother Liam.
He has a best friend Ethan who Scott classifies as his brother. They do everything together. They are inseparable.
    Brothers forever.
As he gets older, Scott works with his brother Liam and his father in the family business.
But Scott is losing his spark.
Always pleasing others, Scott has somehow managed to lose himself along the way.
    He’s lost.
He’s not sure what direction to go in.

Scott decides to quit his job and starts to search for himself. It’s time Scott found his inner self again.

But what Scott doesn't realise what really lays ahead.
What struggles he will go through.
What grief will tear him apart.
What consequences of his actions will be felt.
What anguish he’ll feel losing the one person who he regarded as his best friend will really feel like.

    This is Scott Jenkins story.

    His story about grief.
    His story about hurt.
    His story about death.
    His story about self loathing.
    His story about loneliness.
    His story about absolute heartbreak.
    His story about survival.
    His story about hope.
    His story about love.

The fifth instalment of the Road To Wonderland Series, this instalment is absolutely brilliant. From beginning to end we found ourselves captivated with every page turned. We loved that we could feel throughout the novel finding ourselves on the same roller coaster as Scott, feeling every emotion he was feeling. We loved the banter between the characters often finding ourselves laughing out loud. We loved the way the heartbreak and turmoil was written as it bled out of the pages making you feel the hurt and pain. We absolutely loved, loved, loved the way the characters yet again entwined within the novel.
A beautifully, heartbreaking, heart-warming read that we just couldn't put down and definitely shouldn't be missed.

To Charlie M Matthews we say thank you for not only giving us the opportunity to read and review Scott Jenkins Road To Wonderland, but thank you for giving is an amazing novel.

    A definite 5 star read.

Scott Jenkins’ Road to Wonderland (Road to Wonderland Series Book 5) by Charlie M. Matthews is the next in the saga and is Scott’s story who is the best friend of Ethan Walker. Scott’s is a painful journey with no hope of ever being happy. Scott has a demanding father he has to deal with plus he has to try and handle the fall of his best friend. While trying to keep his self together he strikes out his own. During this time of being on his own he finds himself in a very taboo relationship. His is a story of ups and downs while trying to be there for Ethan whose descent into drug addiction has gotten to a point where Ethan will either get clean or die. Scott feels alone, hurt, confused and abandoned by his friend. He tries to do the best he can while having a relationship he has to keep secret. As with all the other books each book intertwines with Izzy and Paris’s story and spans over an extensive period of time. Scott’s road to wonderland was one of self-doubt and hurt. Another tale of finding oneself. Scott’s journey is a strange and leaves you guessing as to whether his is really over. I was given an ARC of the book for an honest review. I give this story 4 stars.

Have I told you how much I love this series?? The idea alone is amazing but then these incredibly talented authors came together to create this whole new world to grab us readers and pull us in.

The Road to Wonderland Series is a story about different people during the same time period. We get to visit different events that happened but view them through the eyes of the different characters. In every book, characters from the other books, make an appearance. It is such a genius idea because this series could have tons of books in it and you would never get bored (I hope there are tons of books in this series – hint hint).

This book is about Scott Jenkins and his view of the world. I found this book to be heart-wrenching most of the time. Scott’s struggles and view of himself kept me hooked as I rooted for him throughout the story. It was absolutely beautiful. Scott wasn’t a big character in the other books but we knew who he was. However, we definitely were not aware of his struggles or his devotion to his friends. Scott is an amazing character and I loved seeing the world through his eyes. There were scenes in the book that we viewed through other characters so it was really cool to see the same situations through Scott.

Because this was Scott’s story, there were new characters introduced as well. All were unique and well developed. Charlie M. Matthews did an absolutely wonderful job with this book and it is a great addition to the series. It was beautifully written and as a reader, I was captivated from page one and went through various emotions while reading the story – laughter, sadness, joy, worry, etc. This story had it all!

This book is a great addition to the series and I am definitely keeping this author on my list of authors to follow.

Scott Jenkins road to wonderland was the first in the series I have read and now I want to go and read all the others.

Throughout the book I found myself rooting for Scott on his journey through wonderland.
Once I had picked the book up, I couldn't put it down again.
Beautifully written by Charlie Matthews, the language is written the way you'd expect any young man to talk which made it engrossing and believable.

Throughly enjoyed every flipping second of this book and series but I’m left with questions about all the characters and whether there is more from this series that I don’t know about as yet. I really hope there is but even if there isn’t this book/series is so stunningly beautiful that I highly recommend you read it.
