Second Chances: A Stand-Alone Enemies To Lovers Romance Kindle Edition
A traumatic history. An unexpected high school reunion. Could love rewrite it all?
At twenty-seven, Angie never expected to face her high school bully again—especially not as her partner on the school reunion planning committee.
Enrico is a policeman with a guilty conscience. He was once part of the crowd that made her teenage years unbearable. She’s the woman who’s never forgiven him. But the boy she remembers has become a man with a badge; a badge that says he’s sworn to protect.
To Angie, the past is unforgivable. To Enrico, it’s his deepest regret.
As tension turns to undeniable chemistry, old wounds resurface—especially when Enrico’s former friend and fellow bully, Jake, returns to stir up trouble.
Can Angie let go of the past long enough to see who Enrico has become… and risk her heart on a man she swore she’d never trust?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2022I have read several from this author and I am yet to be disappointed by her works! This book is good and I'm not all that big on the romance side of things. But this book is well balanced!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2022Everyone deserves a second chance in life, and I found it interesting that Angie's path crossed with the guy who tormented her at school. Now an adult and a policeman, Enrico is a changed man, but trying to convince Angie is not easy. He discovers that saying "sorry" is not enough, no matter how many times you say it, Enrico has to prove it with consistent action.
Angie's doubts were understandable, but getting over them slowed down the pace of the story for me. This is the fourth book by this author that I have read, and I loved the relatable characters. While I don't enjoy stories about bullies, this one was well-executed. And I particularly enjoyed how the author weaved the title into the story : )
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2022This is a great read for anyone interested in this genre!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2022I enjoyed reading this. The writing is engaging and the characters are interesting. I did find some aspects of both main characters annoying (on a personal level, I don't think the traits I'm thinking of would necessarily irk a general audience) but overall I rooted for them both and I like how this novel turned out. I recommend it to people who like the enemies to lovers trope.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2024I have never read the Bully trope before, but thought this one came from a place of true forgiveness. I loved the pining and tension between the two characters. I enjoyed reading anytime they were together on the page. If you like the bully trope, you'll like this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2022Angie was the owner of a new, small, and quaint bookstore. If business didn’t pick up soon, she’d be closing the shop—something she didn’t want to have to do.
Over the years, she’d grown into quite the business woman, but all it took was a blast from the past to remind her of the overweight, shabby, brace-face girl she was in high school. Believe it or not, Enrico felt bad for the way he and his friends bullied Angie. If he could tell Angie he was sorry, it be great. And if she wasn’t such a cold ice-queen to him, it be much easier to say it.
For Angie, high school was one of the worst times of her life, so when she’s asked by the reunion committee to use her store as the venue, all she could think of was the possibility of bringing in more business. She didn’t realize that Enrico, the jerk, was on the committee as well. And she was even less thrilled when she discovered that she’d be working close with him. Aw fudge!
Once a bully, always a bully.
Having to work together brought up all the anger and resentment from the past. There was such awkward tension between Angie and Enrico. Even though he couldn’t really blame her for her bad attitude toward him, Enrico was surely at a loss. How could you work with someone who hated you? How could he prove to her that he wasn’t the same guy anymore?
For Angie, she had to remember that Enrico was the enemy, and no enemy should look that good.
Was this a connection out of love…or guilt?
Story had an easy and engaging narrative that can be long and slow at times. It was nice seeing how the barriers between the characters crumbled and they began to see something more.
A nice and sweet romance.
