SECONDS TO DIE a totally gripping serial killer thriller with a twist (Detective Claudia Nunn Mystery Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 2,911 ratings

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Wow, just wow . . . Fast-paced, gripping, nail-biting . . . This is one of the best police procedurals I have read in a long time.” Greta

A DARK, TWISTY AND UTTERLY COMPULSIVE PAGE-TURNER.

A killer who sends drawings of the murders he will commit.
A detective who will do anything to stop him.

Detective Claudia Nunn has never seen anything so beautiful — or so horrifying.

The intricate drawing is sent to her at work. It shows a man, naked on a bed. His arms are bound, his face contorted in agony, a huge blade stuck deep in his back.

Gory? Certainly. Something to worry about? Not likely. Police get sent weird stuff all the time.

Until Claudia is called to a crime scene that exactly recreates the drawing.

When another sketch arrives, Claudia thinks she might have a serial killer on her hands, who thinks he’s an artist.

Claudia’s in a race against time to stop anyone else dying — and the next victim could be her.

Perfect for fans of Helen H. Durrant, Rachel Abbott, Biba Pearce, Angela Marsons and L.J. Ross.

Talk about intense! This was an amazing book, follow up to the first in the series! The plot is so original, and the subplot as well. Both keep you gripping your seat. I was invested in this book upon reading the prologue, and I had a hard time putting it down to sleep. The fast paced case, the whisper of the gory scenes, and the knowledgeable writing of the investigation pulled this all together to be one of the best books I have read in awhile! I honestly don't know why I waited to read Rebecca Bradley's books, but I won't be making that mistake again

Very interesting and different kind of story. Kept me turning the pages and glued to story. At some places, nerve-racking. Good story. Now I have to read the next book to find out about her father.

I enjoyed the original book, so preordered this sequel. I'll admit when I see 90% of a new book's reviews being from people who were given advance copies, and those reviews are all gushing with praise, I get nervous - it just seems too good to be true. Here's my opinion as a paying customer.

First, you really need to read the first book to get a true understanding of events. One of the draws of this series has been the dynamic between father/daughter team Claudia and Dominic, with Dominic's shocking secret of the events of the first book still yet to be unveiled. I really like this storyline - it's fresh and original, a rarity in procedurals. This book focuses on DI Claudia and her team chasing down a serial killer known as The Artist, who is terrorizing Sheffield by displaying his victims as public "masterpieces"

It's a good read to be sure, but it should be shorter. The author has a habit of describing the same thing in multiple different ways, so even though a couple of pages had gone by, I found myself not really knowing anything I hadn't learned in the first couple of paragraphs. It's an interesting story, but not particularly suspenseful, let alone gripping or nail biting. The killer isn't difficult to ID early on, and the storyline with Dominic looks like it will continue in future books. I was hoping we'd get some more backstory on Claudia here, but it doesn't happen. I'm still having a hard time really connecting with her, so it's difficult to really care about her. For me, Dominic is the main character here, and the much more interesting one of the two.

I'd rate it 3.5 if I could, because it's a solid procedural. Enough for me to get the next one when it comes out.

Many thanks to the author / Joffe Books / Books n All Promotions / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

He only wants his work recognized as something that has never been done before. The call him The Artist.

He sends a sketch .. of a man stretched out on a bed, His face is twisted with a look of horror and a huge blade stuck deep in his back.

DI Claudia Nunn was puzzled, but not truly concerned until she's called in to investigate a crime scene ... that's the exact replica of the drawing she received. Weeks later, she receives another sketch .. and another crime scene is revealed.

The Artist is getting mad at DI Nunn. Why hasn't she shared her "invitations" for the public to view his 'art'? Maybe he'll decide to make her his next exhibition.

This is a well-written addition to this existing series. Although second in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend reading in order so as to not miss those little gems that make a series good, There are twists and turns that lead to a surprising explosive conclusion. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next to DI Nunn.

Wow! I really enjoyed the latest Rebecca Bradley police procedural. As all of her previous novels, this one rings true. Very believable. That's probably because the author is retired from the police force.

This is book 2 featuring this particular DI, Claudia. While it isn't necessary to read the first one to enjoy this one, you might want to go ahead and read it. It too is a solid novel and it builds on Claudia and her father, Dominic, who both work in the same precinct, although Claudia is her father's superior.

This installment features The Artist who is a serial killer who sends detailed drawings of his crime scenes before they happen.

Truly enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

4.0 out of 5 stars A second visit to an interesting new series.

Seconds to Die is the second DI Claudia Nunn mystery. I'd actually completely forgotten that I had it to read on my kindle until I saw that book 3 was about to come out. Set in Sheffield, this is a police procedural mystery that focuses on a strong female lead. I always enjoy British mysteries and having a strong woman at the helm is an added bonus. Still reeling from the death of her close friend in the previous book, Claudia has another serial killer to deal with.
I very much enjoyed the chase and Claudia's attempts to get to the bottom of who the killer is. What I'm slightly less keen on is her relationship with her father. He has few, if any redeeming features and I don't like the fact that he is part of her team, it seems a little far fetched that he would be on her team? Still, it's clear that this is going to be an ongoing story and one we might eventually get to the bottom of.
I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to the next.

In between housework etc., I read this book in a day.
I love the way DI Claudia Nunn manages her team, but I'm not too keen on Dominic, a DS who is Claudia's dad.
Dominic is holding onto a secret that, if revealed, he would lose his job, and his daughter, and most probably land him in prison. Will his secret ever come to light?
Someone is sending Claudia pictures of victims who are yet to be discovered. The press has named him, the Artist. Will this man ever be caught?
Lots of twists and turns that will keep the pages turning.
5 ***** from this happy reader.
