4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 27 ratings

In Sinclair Lodge, you are never alone…

Sara Eriksson has moved to Dunnhill, a charming, small mountain village tucked in the Northern Cascades, to be closer to her boyfriend David. The start of the winter season has transformed the town into a snow-lover’s paradise—but perhaps not the paradise Sara had in mind.

Sara’s bank account is a disaster. Work is hard to come by. David, who is mourning the loss of his grandfather, has withdrawn into an obsession for skiing—an obsession he desperately wants to share with Sara. She doesn’t know how to ski, but David is determined to teach her. And if that wasn’t enough to deal with, she stumbles upon a dead body.

When an unexpected job offer comes her way—tutoring a young girl in the famed Sinclair Lodge—her problems seem to be solved. However, she quickly finds out they are only getting started. As she mingles with the rich, powerful and disturbing members of the Sinclair household, she becomes entangled in a web of secrets, lies and intrigue. Before long, her haunting dreams and visions return, slowly exposing the terrifying truth.

But what is the truth? Whom can she trust? And who might be coming for her? The journey ahead is a treacherous one. She soon realizes she has to watch her step, for there is danger hiding in every corner…

Lucia Davis lives in Michigan with her husband and three children.

She loves traveling and has visited many countries over the years, exploring different cultures. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking and doing yoga. In the winter, she tries to embrace living in cold Michigan by going skiing and being a hockey-mom. But she really prefers palm trees.

Lucia Davis is the author of the Dunnhill Mysteries: a series with a paranormal slant and a hint of romance. In the first book, The Baby on the Back Porch, Sara Eriksson leaves San Francisco for a small village in the Northern Cascades, where unresolved secrets from the past linger. The Baby on the Back Porch is short, a novelette, and serves as an introduction to the series, yet it is a full story with beginning and end. The sequel, The Charm of Lost Chances, brings Sara to another chilling mystery she has to solve. In The Secrets of Sinclair Lodge (Dunnhill Mysteries #3) Sara will have to brave the winter in the mountains, with plenty of ski adventures, a dead body and interesting new house mates.

A Dose of Deadly Intentions (Dunnhill Mysteries #4) is to be released as ebook on June 15th, 2020. This time we find Sara in San Francisco, but even there the ghosts from the past will not leave her alone. Old letters, new family members, and a handsome admirer can lead to all sorts of problems, as Sara is about to find out.

Ok, now how can I truly put my feelings out for your understanding how this series has snatched me off to an "otherly" world and won't let me go - til by George - I have finished from cover to cover? Haven't you enjoyed, experienced that encompassing feeling!? Oh yeah, yeah I know there are stories and series we've all read that have not only grabbed you by your shirt collar and piqued your incessant curiosity....but ever one that by a new author(one you stumbled across and you thought why not try this one and see what she's got to offer you?) And you kinda liked the book cover? Well by golly! Here's one for you!! And heck I must've gotten hooked 'cause it's #3!! And ooo la la! It's a doozy!!
Sara,Sara...what have you agreed to this time? And why would think you finding a foot attached to a ski in deep snow not lead you to finding the body that owned that foot under all that snow? And not knowing you're gonna be eyeball deep into another mystery? I
David,David,David....when you first appeared back into Sara's life (actually folks he never really left, only stood off to the sidelines for a bit cause he's just not a sharp tack in romance department😏) I thought well young man now you're on the right track...then you do stupid stuff--good heavens dude! Some of us nosy biddies have to know "what the heck are you thinking?" Then you wake up! ! Oh thank goodness Lucia gives you life!! Of course we all want you and Sara to expand your lives even further. Seems you're the perfect him to her yang!
Preston, for minute there I actually believed you murdered your wife....And thankfully your baby girl made her feelings known to Sara..even tho she had no idea Sara would once again have her inner "eye" visions. . But thankfully she does and problems do get solved and lives do get on an even track..
This isn't so much a review as it is a rave endorsement on Lucia's story telling and her talent to snag a reader off to snow covered mountains, slightly dysfunctional dynamics...And the ability to have readers feel as if they are right there with the characters,in the rooms, sharing the meal, falling on your butt on that ski run!
To sum up- I enjoyed this read too- now off to #4- -can't wait to get started on that! Sooo grab a comfy chair,a nice drink of your choice- hunker down and open the book and get lost !!😃👍--P/

Here we are again in Dunhill with Sara and David and a lot of new characters alive and dead. This is a little different scenery in this third series. Sara is in the cold cabin that we are use to, just for just a short span of time. Her new adventure is at the Sinclair Lodge. It is not just different scenery however the climate between David and Sara has changed. David is not himself. He is depressed. His grand dad has passed away. His mom being his grand dad caretaker for years. Now she has this new found freedom which David is not use to. She is getting prepared to leave the country for an adventure on her own.

In a short span of time Sara discovers a dead women body while she is learning to ski. This is when the chains of paranormal events starts. Now she has to try to figure out why a maybe suicidal testy hair pulling spirit is haunting her. Was it a suicide? What is she that trying to tell Sara? With David being depressed she has to figure this one out by herself mostly.

This story has a lots of twists and turns. People dying and even the man that is there to protect the family that she works for disappears. Where did he go? You will be so surprised who the true killer is. Honestly I did not see this one coming.

Sinclair Lodge is a short read. I really enjoyed this third Series and I would read the Fourth when it becomes available.

Excellent psychological thriller set in the Pacific Northwest. It does have a paranormal slant, but doesn't dominate the story.
I loved the setting - my old stomp grounds in the Cascade Mountains. And the author does a great job or transporting readers to the middle of a very snowy winter. It's a well-built mystery a la Agatha Christie, with lots of clues and red herrings sprinkled throughout the novel.
Things with Sarah's her boyfriend aren't progressing, she's running out of money and has no job prospects on the horizon. So when she's asked to tutor the teenage daughter of a rich businessman, she feels like she has to say yes, despite the dark rumors surrounding the house and family.
It's an intriguing mystery for readers who enjoy puzzles with a touch of paranormal.

Davis pens a remarkable story in as the third book in the Dunhill Series. The Secrets of Sinclair Lodge brings mystery and suspense to the plot, and also gives the characters the rightful place in the story. I like the quirkiness of the story, and how the spirit aspect is creepy and spooky but not overly haunting. It's filled with a magical mystery with the hint of suspense and ghostly. I like Sara and her interactions with David. I won't say anymore, because I do don't spoilers. It's definitely one of my favorites in this series.

Like is strange enough but when you add a ghost or two to the mix it gets really strange. Then when they are telling you that your job is to find who killed them and are mean about it well guess you'll have to read this book.

Loved the characters. Just enough twists to keep my interest high.

I loved this book! 3rd book in the series and even more captivating than the first 2 books. The characters were well drawn out - and if you’ve read the first 2, it’s really fun to see the relationships develop over time. At this point, I feel like I know Sara and she’s a friend of mine. She's quirky and smart, completely relatable (but for the whole supernatural thing she has going on...). This book is little more spooky than the other 2, but still maintains its playful spirit. It’s filled with twists that make it a page turner - hard to put down. Once again, however, I am left disappointed that I have to wait for the next book to find out what happens next!

Secrets...is a mysterious continuation in the Dunhill series. It was easy to get hooked from the beginning and continue with the characters through the plot of this third mystery in Davis' series.
