    This is but another fine story of a Scot falling in love with an English gal. The fact that she sees him as far above her socially and finds herself lacking is an issue he must work to overcome. She speaks most colorfully and challenges him at every turn. She needs correction and he is the man for it. I love the details Ashe Barker brings to all her stories. Interconnected stories makes you hope there are more coming from these fascinating people and their era.

    The factual details within these books always make for the most interesting reading, the actual facts about living in these times are always a harsh reality of a life filled with danger and hardships and yet love and happiness was still in supply and all the more valuable due to the effort needed to accomplish it.
    The characters are simply wonderful and the interaction is so multi-faceted that at times it can make your head spin. This is a daring drama filled with action and adventure, after the abduction and all involved in discovering who is behind it all, the wickedness and planning and strength of will to survive and hope for rescue is simply captivating.
    I recommend the read and am sure that if you are an Ashe Barker fan you will not be disappointed; I think this read has been one of my favourites.

    I loved this story as it is well written and full of danger and romance. A Scotsman, Robbie is in search of his brother’s stepdaughter who was taken forcefully from her mother. Unexpected help from Jane, the child’s nurse leads them to her. Up until now things have gone rather smoothly but the return to Scotland is full of danger beginning with a few of Robbie’s being captured by the English. Thanks to the quick thinking of Jane, she creates a diversion and the men are rescued. Because of the danger she placed herself in, Robbie spanks Jane much to her surprise but it is not last time she will be disciplined by him. There is a HEA for Robbie and Jane but it is a long journey back to Scotland and home.

    I have no idea why this fiery fun FMC would fall in love with MMC. He spanks her before they're even together. He beats her with a belt before they even sleep together. He makes her thank him and ask for another strike. And he r*pes her in the a*s because she didn't agree to marry him. Somehow this is charming?

    When will these authors write an actually strong FMC who doesn't feel affection for men who beat her? Take a note from Diana Gabaldon and have the FMC get a sword to the guy and threaten to kill him if he ever tries to pull that shit again! Have a MMC who learns a lesson! "I thought I could beat her into submission, but I guess I'm not in charge... If I want to be with her, I can't pull that shit again." That's the story I want to read!
