I just went to my 1st Book Event (Wild and Windy in Phoenix) and Nyla was on a panel of 5 different authors that write erotica, at that point I had never read her work before. An audience member asked what’s a favorite book you wrote or character you love most, she said Serpent in White and she was flummoxed that it hadn’t done better. After listening to her speak I was intrigued. I started reading the book that day and only put it down to sleep practically- the characters were so solidly built and so very sexy, the setting was perfectly written and it made me want to live there. The Authors Note at the end was excellent. I am a new and very happy fan- Thank you Nyla!

Every time I read a Nyla K book I find I need time to process everything before I can wrap my head around everything that happened and formulate my thoughts. Nyla's writing is something else. Each book is so unique and has a way of opening my mind up and making me think just a bit deeper. It's such a special talent and quality she possesses as a writer. Serpent in White is Nyla's retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of The White Snake. The parallels were 💋 Now. To dig into Serpent in White. Where do I even begin? This book hooked me immediately. Nyla starts painting a picture of this new world. We dive into the Empyrean forest headfirst. This book is poetic and deep yet trippy. Fantastical. With a slight touch of paranormal aspect? Maybe? But I can’t even stress enough how DEEP this book is. At 24% in I was already convinced this book is Nyla's best writing to date. I can feel that that this book truly flowed from her soul. Does that sound crazy? Idc because I feel it. Abdiel, the servant. Darian, the King. Drake, the Serpent. Each man has special qualities that wove their way into my heart. My favorite part of the charcaters in general is they're a study of contradictions. Very similar in that respect to Joyless. I love that Nyla’s characters test the boundaries of expectations. The characters are unique. They're all strong is so many ways, but vulnerable in other ways and facets that are beautiful and surprising. As Nyla warns, Rhiannon, the Princess, comes into the book much later in the story. She added another layer of depth to an already deep story. Each character was vitally needed for the characters to complete their own journey. Each piece a unique part of an unexpected whole. It’s hard to explain without spoiling anything, but it’s very true. The cult aspect of the book is very subtle. After reading this book, I was more than convinced the Expanse is THE place to be. Close to people, to god and the earth. It sounds fabulous. Seriously. Each person with a purpose and able to make use of their talents regardless of social standing or education. Sign me up! And, as always, please make sure to be ready for twists! Nyla is the queen of those. Definitely at the top of my favorite books list. I will be adding the paperback and hardcover to my signed book collection.
