About the authors
I live in the UK near the Bronte moors where I walk my rescue dog, Roxy. I write dark fiction, and ghost stories. I was obsessed with historic haunted houses growing up and old movies especially film noirs of the 1940's. I blend the two genres in my fiction. I teach creative writing, edit and mentor writers. Away from my writing I swim, craft, sing, eat chocolate and laugh a lot with friends.
Stephanie Ellis lives in Wrexham in Wales in the UK with her family and is a writer of dark fiction and poetry.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2020Authors Stephanie Ellis and Alyson Faye bring their passion for the gothic to four tales of dark literature. Each story is perfectly paced and timeless, blending the atmospheric dread of classic gothic literature with a modern sensibility. All the stories were outstanding, but Ellis's "The Face Collector" was my favorite with an ending that stuck with me well after reading the final sentence. SHADOW BOUND is a gift for fans of gothic horror delivered by two writers who are at the top of their game.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2021This is a slim volume of four gothic tales of horror. Two tales each by Stephanie Ellis and Alyson Faye gives you the dark and brooding feelings of dread you come to expect from the writings of these amazing authors. The total book is 80 gages so it’s a fantastic day read for lovers of the genre. Grim and haunting, you will wish each story could just go on longer.
I’m adding that I gave 4 stars only because these are 4 separate short stories and I had to average it out. Short stories either in anthologies or even this setting are very difficult to review. Each story was amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unpredictable.
This quartet of short stories chillingly plays out four Victorian manuscripts, each one creating a different atmosphere.
The first two,' Asylum of Shadows' and The Face Collector' by Stephanie Ellis, are set in a dark environment of criminality, with morbid twists and turns. The second two 'Night of the Rider' and 'When Dead Eyes Weep' by Alyson Faye, are set in family homes, one in a country house, one in a Victorian town house. Lives have to be sacrificed in strange ways. These stories are intriguing and unpredictable. An excellent read.
