Shadow in the Mine: Blue Moon Investigations Book 20 - A Snarky Paranormal Detective Mystery Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 1,323 ratings

Called to investigate a mystery at a local gypsum mine, paranormal detective, Tempest Michaels, expects to find a rational explanation for the strange events …

… instead, he discovers a body and a horrified staff.

Recent earthworks exposed something ancient, twisted, and above all evil. It has claimed one life already and the staff are terrified for who might be next.

No one saw what it was though, just a glimpse of a shadow.

Why does it want to keep people away from the area? Will it claim more bodies as the mine’s owners believe? Or can Tempest unravel the mystery behind the shadow before it can strike again?

One thing is for sure, this is like nothing he’s ever faced before, and just maybe this time, the creature is real.

The paranormal? It’s all nonsense, but proving might just get him killed.

Review

"Well once again Steve has done it I do so love his books the humour, the naughty bits, the dogs Bull and Dozer my favourites, the who done it rolling up into a superb ending I just can't wait for the next one definitely 5 star and more."

"Good convoluted plot and the same loveable characters."

"Loved it, from the first page. Lots of red herrings and meandering while Tempest was trying to figure it out and there's always shenanigans when Big Ben is in the mix. It kept me glued from first to last page."

About the Author

At school, the author was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, he won his first award. However, calling it his first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, he is having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and claims to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in his head as they clamour to get out.He lives in the south-east corner of England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

I just have to exclaim how much I love this series by Steve Higgs. It is so much fun and he makes his characters so interesting. Tempest Michaels is a private investigator but when he put an ad in the local paper to promote his business it was accidently listed as Blue moon Paranormal Investigation. He was so mad until his phone did not stop ringing for peole that need to rid their homes and lives of paranormal entities. But he did not believe in ghosts so he took the cases with the idea of finding who was really behind the ghosts. It is light UK. It's fun to hear what things are called over the pond unlike here. A very good, easy read. I've got 3 more books until the end of this series. I will be looking at other of his books. I will miss Tempest, Amanda, Jane/James, Big Ben, Basic, Jagjit, Frank, Poison and all the other characters.

I remember reading somewhere, or so my m brain tells me. That the series was going to come to an end. And I could not seem to handle that. So when the books was coming out farther apart, I went to a different author and did not come back for a while. In checking again I found a few I had missed and Now I am happily reading them and the older ones. If you like mystery, adventure, humor, and a dash of spookiness. This series is the best. You won't be disapointed.

I love this authors books. I read all of the Patricia Fisher book and on book 20 of Blue moon. The characters are fun and intriguing. Stories are such that I often finish in two days of early morning reading. If they ever created a television series I am not certain an actor could be found to replicate the picture in my mind of Big Ben. But it would be worth a try😉. I guess a new reader would just have to read the series to see what I mean. Keep writing great stories.

Very gripping, I really enjoyed the intricate intrigue of multiple levels of misleading information on multiple intricate stories involving strange people.

Once again our intrepid investigator puts himself dead center in the middle of death and chaos. You just never know what will happen next and that's what makes the Blue Moon investigations fun to read.

One of Tempest’s more convoluted mysteries with plenty of action, a side of humour and a great plot twist at the end. A real page-turner.

A bit shorter than some of the previous books but still action packed with twists and turns and a few edge of the seat moments and a scattering of humour. Just love all the books he has written...I've read them all...and still want more...fortunately there are more on the way...
