Its been five long years since Gerard left home. Shipwrecked on an island in the South Pacific, he was forced to grow up and find his way in the world. Eventually he found a ship and a way home, but wonders how much has changed in his absence.

Are his parents still alive? Does he still have a home? Do the Duke and Duchess still reside in the castle? Does he still have a job as a gamekeeper if he needs it? Will his childhood friend Princess Sophie remember him? Will anyone remember him?

Gerard is still captain of his ship but for how much longer? The owners want a different captain, somebody older with more experience. His ship is full of holes and needs considerable repairs. Dancing with pirate ships will do that.

Once again Gerard must fight to hold onto what he has. To protect his crew, to protect his family, and to keep his promises. The ones he made to others, and the ones he made to himself. If he can do all of that, then all he needs to worry about are the pirates who want him dead.

Robert Liebertz was born in Portland Oregon; but grew up in the suburb of Gresham. He worked a number of different jobs including construction work, waiter, vacuum salesman, and building fences. He found his calling at a 911 center answering calls and dispatching police. Robert worked as a 911 Dispatcher for the City of Portland Oregon for over 30 years: retiring in March of 2021.

He has been married to his wife Margaret since 1992. They have two children, Lucas and Emma. They also have two Siberian huskies, Nova and Ella.

Robert has been attending pirate festivals for decades. At one particular event, a friend encouraged him to invent his own name, character, and backstory. Robert started writing, and that backstory became the groundwork for his first book. He started writing “Gerard’s Fortune” in October 2020, and finished in January of 2021.

He spent months looking for a publisher during the covid lockdown. Frustrated with the process, Robert decided to self-publish with Amazon. His first book, Gerard's Fortune, was published July 28th, 2021. He now has five books published in the Sharp Tales series. His website, YouTube, and Facebook pages can all be found under the tag "sevenminutesofpiracy".

Worth the read
I really enjoyed the first book and passed it to my husband who constantly laughs and wants to interrupt me to share where he’s at, all while I’m enjoying the second book. I’m glad we both enjoy reading and we can share the stories but I’m now wondering if I should have purchased 2 copies like a book club. Gerard’s always thinking ahead, 2 steps ahead of the ATC, planning ahead for other encounters etc. Really great adventure…and it continues in book 3. Update, got a second copy for Christmas, now I don’t need to share.

    What a fun read! Visit parts of the world you hadn't imagined before, learn about new customs, and meet both old and new characters. Follow Gerard as he learns what it takes to outwit pirates and the owners of the trading company. Pay close attention to Gerard and imagine actually having a boss who treats his crew with respect. The perfect book to read while on a vacation or if you're stuck at home and need a getaway!
