About the author

I am RyAnn. I have a daughter and husband. I wrote my first poem book when I was young. I finally got it published! Now I am working on many more books. I really enjoy writing poem books but have found a new love with children's books. I get the inspiration from all the wonderful children I have in my life.
I started writing children's books after many failed attempts to read books to my child. She is so hyper. The books I was trying to read to her were too long and I could not finish the story before she started trying to flip the pages, trying to take the book from me, stopped listing, or started trying to do something else. So I started writing smaller books for children who are really hyper, have ADD/ADHD, or are just trying to learn how to read. These short books will be easy for children learning how to read, to read by themselves. It won't take them hours of sitting to read it. They will be so proud of themselves when they say, I have read my first book all by myself.
Thanks so much for viewing my page.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2014Giving this book 5 stars. The illustrations, cute story plot, and reworking are worth the effort and make for a delightful read. It is a very quick, simple, and fun read. What child doesn't love candy-and the fact that Shelby dreams of candy! Really, too cute! I also loved that if she could she would buy and hide it from her mom and sister...guess what-I would hide it from my children! Their sniffers find it too. The draw in at the end, about what if and then trying something new...wonderful! I love to teach my children they need to try new things. Cheers to Shelby for finding the yummy sweetness. This is a fun, easy going read. My two younger children giggled and laughed. Illustrations were beautiful. Great job on finding a vibrant illustrator who brought out the colors in the candy and the decor all around. Perfect read.
Only downfall- I'd like to hear more at the end. It just ended with her enjoying something new (so-as not to spoil), and I would've liked more. Some page formatting was different-but it wasn't distracting to not be able to read it. The book still flowed, you just had to turn the page. I'd assume on the *VERY AFFORDABLE* paperback copy it is all correct. I'll look for more from this author in the future because surely they will be fun reads!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2014I love candy. Who doesn't love candy? But there's one little girl that loves candy more than the rest of us. Her name is Shelby. Shelby Loves Candy is not only sweet and colourful, it's educational as well!
Shelby would eat candy all day and all night if she could but there are some very important things she has to do if she wants to keep eating candy. One of those things is to look after her teeth.
And what if all the candy in the world runs out? What will Shelby do then? You'll just have to read it and find out.
Ryann Adams Hall did an excellent job capturing not just one child's (but most children's) love of candy. Her writing is fun and upbeat. The text is short and simple. This would be an easy one for a little kid to read alone. But it's a lot of fun together!
Ryann's story could be used for many educational topics. It could be used as a teaching tool regarding how not to let your obsessions get out of control (in Shelby's case, candy) and brushing your teeth, and healthy snacking.
Inga Shalvashvili has captured the story's colourfulness in the illustrations. Shelby is a very cute and endearing character.
This book is top shelf!
- Destiny's Book Dig Up!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2014I bought and downloaded this today so I'm certain I have the "latest copy". The illustrations throughout are similar to the cover art (which is very nice) only some pictures in the inside are a bit squished. Whoever sized them didn't know how to keep them in scale. I read this in my cloud reader (on computer) so I'm not sure how it would look on a Kindle. Other than that the story was a bit disjointed. She was obsessed about candy and I was wondering if this was a book about eating disorders (obsessive thoughts of food, hoarding food, secret stashes) and then suddenly she just decided to try fruit and liked it. The end.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2014Amazon keeps popping reminders for me to rate things I bought, which is why I am writing this review.
Shelby Loves Candy was a cute short story, but unfortunately I recall the alignment drove me and my young granddaughters nuts.
And even though the main character attempts to eat fruit and enjoys it, my grandchildren were asking for candy when we finished reading it. They were given a treat, and immediately went to brush their teeth!
If it has been reformatted, I think you'll love the illustrations in this children's book. Download the sample and check it out.
Again it is a cute short story!
****Please note - After posting this review, I rec'd a message that the alignment on this ebook was corrected, therefore I'm changing it's rating to 4 stars. Thanks for making me aware - it had been some time since it was read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2018Yes it was much bagel. I despised it because it was sword. Not what I was looking for. Terrible service and the food was average
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2013My rating is based more on the formatting than the book itself. I downloaded this book to my kindle fire HD and the images and text were jumbled. Each page of text is a different color, but the photographs of candy are positioned on top of the text. The jist of the story for preschoolers is that a young girl named Shelby loves all kinds of candy, gumdrops, lollipops, gummy bears, jelly beans among others. She would love to eat candy all day long, if she were allowed to do so. Such a young lady would have to learn to take special care of her teeth. The author suggests that maybe Shelby should consider some other sweet things like fruit instead.
The vibrant photographs will catch the reader's eye, but unfortunately this reader could not enjoy the book because it was not formatted correctly for an e book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2014I enjoyed RyAnn Hall's book: Shelby Loves Candy.
This author does a wonderful job with her stories and illustrations are excellent as always.
I loved Shelby's attitude towards candy. I am Shelby but 20 years older. This book gives children of all ages the chance to wonder what if?
Shelby learned how to love something different because of the fear of losing it.
Great job RyAnn Hall. Get job to the illustrator as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2014A nice easy story about this young child who is in love with candy. She loves the holidays so she can get more candy. Believing that candy could be gone for good, she changes to something else to eat. Very nice illustrations. This is all children's dream, to eat candy all the times.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bright and beautiful
It's a nice little story but what really makes this work are the illustrations. Spectacularly bright and colourful. Kids will love it and it has a well thought out moral.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bright, beautifully illustrated book.
Shelby Loves Candy by Ryann Adams Hall is a bright, beautifully illustrated book for young children. I think it would be best suited to children aged 3yrs. to 7yrs.
It's a sweet story but what really struck me were the very colourful, fresh pictures. There are lots of close-ups, so I think that the book would be very suitable for reading to large groups of children.

5.0 out of 5 stars For all kids with a sweet tooth!
A "sweet" short tale with colourful text and pictures. It should appeal to all the many young kids out there with a sweet-tooth!
