A Shopkeeper for Christmas (Spinster Mail-Order Brides Book 33) Kindle Edition
Owen Cardsdale is at his wit’s end. He has a mercantile to run and a motherless son, Willie, who, at age seven, needs more direction and attention than he has time for or the desire to give. His Aunt Aggie occasionally watches Willie in the hours after school, but she insists that what Owen needs is another wife to be a mother to his son. Owen acknowledges that, for Willie’s sake, he might consider a marriage of convenience, but takes no steps in that direction. Much to his dismay and befuddlement, he soon realizes he underestimated his aunt. Eva arrives at her new home a few weeks before Christmas only to discover her new family does not consider her a gift. If it were not for the support of Aunt Aggie, she would pack up and return home. Will hearts soften and open up during this season of celebrating the birth of Christ.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2025This is a blessed western historical! The story is fast paced, intriguing, and entertaining. Each character is beautifully portrayed and believable. ENJOY!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2021A lovely story about Owen and his Willie. What the war and marrying young, his first marriage wasn’t what he had hope now. As a widow, his aunt is pushing him to marry. A very good, sweet story.

"Owen, you need a wife. More to the point, that son of yours needs a mother."
Famous words from Owen's Aunt Aggie (you will love her!). His wife Jenny had been gone for over a year and a half and it had been him and his seven year old son, Willie. Aunt Aggie had moved out to help take care of Willie and Owen. But now she had a beau and she knew Owen needed a push.
Solution? Put an ad in for a mail order bride!! How I loved this story and Eva who answered the ad!
Eva had lost everyone but her sister and was working as a kitchen helper at a hotel. Her roommate was answering ads for a mail order bride and that is how she found Owen.
What was a little different is that Eva agreed to come out and get to know him and see if they suit.
It was a wonderful journey with a few ups and downs, but in the end, love always wins! Sigh.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2020Without a push, the journey would not have begun. Without a purpose, the determination to come together in thought and action would not have happened. Good story!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2021I love reading these kind of book. I read a lot of thriller's, and then i read these for a couple of days to bring me back down to earth. Loved this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2022This story was one that took me longer to read than I would normally be, and the reason simply being that I just didn't like it very much...
Characterization was also not optional, at least not in my mind, and it somehow felt a bit hollow.
Therefore I can not give more than nice three stars to this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2020This is the story of a spinster becoming a mail order bride to a shopkeeper that has a son finding a family
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2020Stories with precocious children in them are delightful! Willie is a wonderful boy and Eva will be a perfect stepmother for him and wife for Owen!
