Tessa and her twin sister Tara are abducted from Earth by aliens that resemble man-sized lizards to be used for breeding. They are rescued from the lizards by these strange, emotionless beings who claim to be Cyborgs. Tessa isn’t sure what to think about the stern commander but can’t deny she finds him as attractive as she does terrifying.
Things heat up between Tessa and Silvano when he is forced to use her to lead a traitor Cyborg away from his ship.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"Holm's worldbuilding skills are fantastic, giving readers a look at our possible future. The details of the physical environments and the social and political climate make this world highly believable. The characters are exceptionally well written, and the tension between Tessa and Silvano grows as the reader learns more about them. I definitely found myself attracted to the commander at one point or another." -- Literary Titan

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2023I liked this clever and different sci fi story with Tessa and her cyborg. The world building and characters development was well done.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2022This is not a typical Cyborg romance. There is no happy ending but maybe later. These Cyborg have been abused by humans so they hate them. But will two himans change there minds.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2022Not my usual read, but I enjoyed it very much! Such a cool world, there's so much potential for future books..

- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2022This book is full of adventure and danger around every corner. I did find the book a little long, but I was so engaged in this story that I felt like I was right there with the characters. I was rooting for Silvano and Tessa to work through their feeling for one another. .

- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2022The storyline was unique and interesting. Triggering content throughout entire story. I'm depressed now. No happy conclusion. Many lose ends. No closure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great
This was a fab read. Kept me engaged from start to finish. I'll definitely be reading more of these types of stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super sci-fi romance
A really gripping story, one that grapples with difficult and sensitive issues, particularly regarding the horrific abuse the cyborgs have endured at the callous and vicious hands of their human handlers. I loved the characters: human Tess is feisty and a total delight, Silvano (the Cyborg commander) is gruff and aloof. No spoilers, but access to his inner turmoil makes everything he does more understandable. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, and, although I gather this will focus on Matthis and Tara I hope readers will also discover more about Tess, Silvano and the children.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book To Read.
I enjoyed reading this book although I didn't like the ending of it as it ended on a cliffhanger (which I personally absolutely hate with a passion) as it hasn't mentioned how things end, whether Silvano & Tessa plus all the children get a happy ever after nor does it mention how Tara manages with her pregnancy, if Azaziah makes it back or how the cyborgs manage with the new humans who came through the tear into another dimension and a different & new/old Earth. Other than these unanswered questions I really did enjoy reading this book as it's quite different from other cyborg stories that I've read in the past.
I'm looking forward to reading more stories of a similar storyline from this author now and in the future.
