Heat: A Single Dad/Hot Chef Romance (Callaghan Green Series Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 304 ratings

Steam isn’t just for the kitchen…

Hot headed, no social skills and she knew more swear words than a sailor. I was beginning to think I had a thing for my boss.
It didn’t matter that she barely knew the name of her employees or that she worked more hours than there were in a day running her restaurants, as soon as I knew she liked to dance, I wanted a taste of more than just her summer menu.

But what you want isn’t always what you get, and the courses fate had lined up weren’t guaranteed to be tasty.

Heat is a sexy single dad standalone in the Callaghan Green series. Keep a fan handy.

Oh boy, Annie Dyer turned up the fire in this book! Simone is a hot London chef who has been married twice and wasn't in the mood to get into another relationship ever again. Jack was one of her head chefs and slowly works his way into her heart, along with his daughter. They both have baggage, but they are both willing to figure it out. Add in the mystery of what's going on with the new restaurant and you have a great quick read with some smoking hot love scenes. If you have read the rest of the Callaghan Green books you will love this addition, there are plenty of pop ins from the others, so it's best to get those books read first to help understand. Another great book by Annie!

Annie Dyer has done a great job making each story in this case unique with characters that are relatable.

Heat focuses on Simone, a restaurant owner, and Jack, a chef and one of her best employees. Past experiences definitely affect their growing relationship, but the story isn't unnecessarily angsty or dramatic. The two of them definitely bring the heat and I liked getting to see their HEA.

My first time reading this author and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the multi dimensions and supporting characters in the story. I could visualize and identify with the characters. The writer was so descriptive with the characters and environment.

The love story of Jack and Simone was so realistic. I loved how their relationship blossomed. If only there was a Jack hiding in real life😉. You must read the story to find out what happens. NO spoilers here. I couldn't read the book fast enough. I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. Sensual, sexual, and erotic. This story had it all. If you're looking for a great read, this is it.

I enjoyed Jack and Simone's story. She was not use to having someone love her like Jack. He was so supportive and caring. The part about his brother was so sad. Jack loved him and was there for him as much as his brother would let him be.

Between the slow-burn romance, the protective dad, and swoon-worthy sweet moments scattered throughout this book--there were SO MANY feels rolling off these pages.

The writing bothered me. A few typo/I think you wrote that wrong moments. The tense changed occasionally, within the same paragraph, not as dialog. Commas would have been helpful to me, run on sentences or just oddly written, that took more work then necessary to figure out. A comma really could have improved my ease of use.
The surprise villain wasn't who I thought it would be; I almost want to go back and understand timing....but I won't.
The sexy times were fine, the characters relatable. The overall tone was pretty dull for me, not much sparkle.
There are a whole cast of characters that I'm guessing have their own books by this author. It is unlikely I will read any of them.

I’m a big fan of Annie’s books, and this one didn’t disappoint. I’ve been curious to learn more about Simone since the previous book in the Callaghan Green series, and I was thrilled to see that she was getting her own book. Jack and Simone gave me all the feels. Their story is one of pain and healing, of learning to love again after so much heartache. I loved that I got to see everything about Simone, and I loved learning about Jack and seeing them fall in love while helping each other move forward after life-altering situations. Such a great read!

Once again this author kept me on the front of my seat. Didn't disappoint in the storyline and characters. I would love to meet Jack in person. So much drama between Simone and Jack I just couldn't put this book down. So glad that they got their happy ever after beginning.

This summer, I'm becoming addicted to the Callaghan Green series. Heat was just what I needed different from the usual romance, with strong characters. I also appreciated that it was linked to reality, like the part about PTSD.

Simone lives for her restaurants, she is a fiery no nonsense woman with no social life. Jack is one of her chefs and he is very calming. He fancies her but is not sure how to go about it but bit by bit they start getting to know each other and she starts to ease off her crazy schedule. She is due to open another eatery but there is someone out to damage it and Jack is on full alpha mode. Its another good read in the Callaghan stories and they have all resulted in five stars.
