Vincent and Maddox have a massive place in my heart and I will write book 3 as soon as I am able to. It isn’t easy balancing multiple pen names, and with expecting a baby this fall, it’s become increasingly harder to focus time and money on books that do not support my family/put food on the table. This doesn’t mean I have “abandoned” the trilogy and won’t finish it. I’ve had a lot of personal issues occur in my life these past few years — some extremely difficult ones — but those who know me know how much these characters means to me and that I would never abandon them.     Vincent is given an impossible choice: to let his group die in the unforgiving, dying wasteland, or become a vampire's slave. With no hope left and not wanting to see the people he cares about wither, Vincent begrudgingly accepts the offer to become "sponsored" by Maddox Caine.

    Once again, Snow does an amazing job creating characters you love to hate...and yet still love them anyway. Maddox is calculating, manipulative and power hungry, but still grounded by his own sense of morality. He doesn't like to see innocent people hurt (for no reason, anyway), and doesn't hesitate to punish those who cross that line. The raw, rough and addictive dynamic between the hardened, self-sacrificing hunter and the powerful, cocky vampire is captivating. You can't help but wish Vincent will escape but also want Maddox to find him in the act. It's a damn fun ride.

    Something unique to Snow in this story is the world she's crafted for the inhabitance. The earth is recovering from a self-purge, and the remaining life left on its scorched landscape is doing all it can to survive. The vampires have become somewhat overloads to "Sanctuary Cities", which are small pockets of civilization among the ruin. The politics in place are dystopian and interesting, and I'm eager to learn more about the other cities and people within them.

    Even if you haven't had the pleasure to read Katze Snow before, this is a great introduction to her dark worlds. I knew I was in for something gritty and biting, and I was pleasantly surprised by the new world she's crafted. I highly recommend for those who like their stories sinister.

    This book is not a romance. It does not have a HFN ending. In fact it ends on a cliffhanger 😞. Please read and heed the trigger warnings at the beginning of this book, because the story is violent and filled with rage.
    Vincent is a kind, loving family man, in charge of his people, protecting them from vampires, and struggling to keep everyone fed, safe, and alive.
    Maddox is a the epitome of psychopathic evil. He believes he is also protecting his people, taking care of the vampires and the civilians of his Hope Sanctuary.
    Something is amiss, and not everything is as tranquil as it seems.
    Vincent becomes Maddox ' s Pet, and now faces the life as a slave. Unspeakable acts of violence and sexual abuse are inflicted upon Vincent, who finds himself once again trying to survive each day. He has nobody to trust, and no way to escape this chosen existence. Vincent willingly exchanged his own life to save the lives of his people.
    Deception and betrayal run deep in the vampire culture. Violence and fear are what Maddox uses as tools to rule the Hope Sanctuary.
    This book was dark. It was filled with anger, rage, and violence. There is no fluffy romance. Even the kiss was brutally forced and taken without consent.
    Yet, I found myself unwilling to put this book down. There are some editing/proofreading errors, and the beginning was difficult to follow. However, once the story gets rolling, I had to finish, and see what would happen next.
    So, read this story if you like dark stories, where you can root for the protagonist, and loudly boo the antagonist. But, yet, at the same time, wonder if Vincent isn't as much of a monster as we believe. IDK, but I'll stay tuned to find out.
    I'll read book two, if only to see where this storyline goes.

    I was very intrigued with the vampire slave dystopian world premise. If you enjoyed Captive Prince or the Beautiful Monsters series you will enjoy this. It’s dark and based on the reviews I was worried it might be too dark for my taste, but I thought it was a perfect blend of dark and disturbing while maintaining a good plot and real heartfelt moments. I do not hate Maddox contrary to popular opinion in reviews lol but I am very eager to see what happens in book two. I don’t know if I would consider this particular book a Romance but I see great potential for the next books in the series now that the main characters have established a pretty good foundation. I especially love romance where you can’t even imagine how two enemies could potentially end up together and fall in love and I’m right there with these two so I am very intrigued to see where this goes..

    For those looking for vampires of the sparkly variety look away now.....because you ain't getting them here!
    Not a pretty story despite the great cover, very much a story of heartbreak, loss and self sacrifice set in a world with Vampires "saving" man from a disaster of his own making. But now the tables are turning and one vampire (Maddox) recognises that he might just need a vampire hunter to save them all. It's just how Maddox sets about persuading Vincent Hudson to help, that makes for a seriously dark MM book, this guy appreciates the need for law and order for keeping people and vampires in line for the world to survive. Its just his interpersonal relations are seriously lacking, he clearly hasn't heard of attracting more bees with honey. Maddox is almost a kind of feral vampire, with a god complex, who tolerates no dissent and meets violence with violence, but who needs to gain Vincent's help and trust to face what is coming, and needless to say it doesn't go well. Boy I can't wait for the next book, so move your backside Katze

    Normally, I'm a vanilla type of reader. However, on occasion, I do enjoy a yummy dark story, so I thought take a risk and read Katze Snow's vampire book, "Sinister Hunger." While I don't think I'd read this type of a book on a daily basis, I did enjoy the concept and world building Ms. Snow brought to her novel. For readers who like a little pain and D/s in their M/M books, this story will be in your wheelhouse. Although it ends on a cliffhanger (which dropped it a star for me), I would buy the second book in this series as I want to find out more about Vincent.

    OMG..I loved Dark Silence so knew I had to give this one a go.....Paranormal isn't my usual go to but I do love Vampires...I make an exception for Vampires and Maddox..Well he certainly is a powerful Vampire...He was dark and certainly knew how to punish Vincent.......I'm not gonna go into what the books about but this is definitely a must read....Vincent goes through hell and not at the hands of who you think either.....I wouldn't really say this is as dark as I thought but then again after reading Dark Silence I think i'm immune to dark reads and they just seem lighter to me now......BUT...It is a great read..I read some reviews about the beginning and taking time and not wanting to read about the fighting...Well a book has to have a start and It doesn't take you that long to get to the darker stuff but the beginning was definitely not boring and was definitely needed.....I can't wait for book 2....I don't do cliffhangers...I hate them...But I was committed before I found out it was...But again I will wait for the next book and I think that one is going to be oh so good x

    This book does content certain triggers that is not suited for everyone.

    As the first book of a new series from Katze Snow, it was a great start. We are introduced to a fascinating world, and there are many hints of more things to come in the next book. There are certain aspects of this book that reminds me of Ai no Kusabi, a reluctant main and a strong handed master. It will be interesting to see how the relationship between Maddox and Vincent develop especially since what happened right before the end of the book and where the cliffhanger leads them. I can’t tell if this was the best place to end the first book or not because I’m definitely hungry for more.

    I LOVED this book. It is extremely well written and constantly keeps you ingrossed, you don’t want to put it down till you know what happens next. The author has a great Imagination and doesn’t like to hide much, I loved that about this book. In the beginning I really didn’t like Maddox, but towards the end I felt like I wanted Vincent to forgive him (I won’t say too much) anyway, I like him now,I think. I love Vincent too. I am dying to know what happens next so please Ms Snow, don’t leave me on this cliff for too long!
