The Sins of the Sire (Dark Highland Passions Book 1) Kindle Edition
"A vengeful man must also dig a grave for himself"
It was a meeting of souls...
Two years ago, Elyssia de Montford first looked into the eyes of the captured Highlander, who stood, brave and defiant, while being tortured by English soldiers, and she risked everything to free him.
Tavish MacLean is consumed by hatred. He's sworn, on his father's deathbed, to enslave the daughter of the English lord who brutalized his beloved sister, and return her to England with a Scottish bastard in her belly. But when his men throw their prisoner at his feet, Tavish recognizes Elyssia, the brave lass who once saved his life and stirred his heart.
Though his clan demands retribution, Tavish questions his loyalty, becoming increasingly enthralled by his fiery captive, the woman who fights him during the day, but whose willing body ignites untold passions at night.
But vengeance comes at a price. Dark secrets lurk in the shadows which, if revealed, could destroy not only Tavish himself, but everything he holds dear.
Heat level: Hot!
Note: HEA guaranteed, but this is a dark captive, enemies-to-lovers romance, with scenes of violence which may be upsetting.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2022I actually waz entranced with what would happen next. Written and told well. It really was a cruel and wicked time. A little too crude for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2022I did not enjoy reading this book at all I kind of skimmed through it after a while because it was too cruel to the woman the sisters were just too much cruelty being raped gang raped pregnant being treated as a trade of whipped I mean how much can one person go through and to me he had no redeeming qualities at all demon qualities at all and I didn't like correcting this author of books as 2 after a Box is too harsh and it's just no don't buy waste your money
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2023This was an awful, dark and degrading novel. There is so much more I could write but words escape me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2022If you are looking for a love story that begins with the “hero’s” men gang raping the heroine on his command, then no further mention of it while he continues to rape her, then this is the story for you. It was not the story for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2023Who wants to read about the rape of the heroine?
Don't we all turn to this sort of thing for escapism?
I, for one, don't want such realism in my historical romance books.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2023This is not a love story - no hero here - the entire book is about rape

This is only the second book I have read of Emily Royal’s and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline was great so many twists and turns with hate, revenge and a wonderful love story, I must have gone through a box of tissues reading it. I would recommend this book, well worth a read
