Tear Me Apart: SkyJack (The Forgotten Women Book 1) Kindle Edition
Having escaped to the Westcountry with her father Bill, they created a fort with other surviving women and male allies as their last stand. They feel safe; roadblocks and nature have created barriers in the way of a river, the moor and the sea. But what they don’t count on is the air…
SKYJACK is the first novella in The Forgotten Women series, which explores the journeys of four young women through the brutal post-apocalyptic world of Tear Me Apart.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2017Skyjack shows a post-apocalyptic world where women are a rare commodity.
The plot reveals are good and a few things happened that I didn't expect. It kept me engaged and I read it in two sittings. The ending is good and makes you want to read on in the series. This such a good example of how a writer can introduce characters into an enclosed space and show the tension and the strained relationships. The writing is succinct and effective. The novella is exactly the length it needs to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Read!
Set in a post apocalyptic London as well as “The Fort” in Lynmouth, Devon this novella has the reader facing themes such as, feeling invisible, wanting/finding your voice, the desire for freedom, being trapped, hidden truths, protection, survival, old world vs the new world, objectification, betrayal, death, strength, courage and bravery! PHEW 🤗
I have to say, I absolutely LOVED this novella which is full of vivid descriptions allowing the reader to become a part of each and every scene played out! With a tense and throughly engrossing plot, the characters brought the story alive and kept me turning the pages. This dystopian read actually made me believe that something like this could actually happen – I escaped into the pages and couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like! Oh wait…let me be clear…I don’t actually want something like this to happen – but what if it did?! 😱
I’m not goin to go into details about all the characters, but trust me when I say there is an abundance of fantastic, realistic, interesting characters throughout this novella that will certainly grab your attention. I will, however, mention Maddy – the main character and the one that really drew me into this story. At 21 years old she feels trapped and invisible in a world set out to protect her. She is intelligent, determined, courageous and brave but because she is female and deemed an ASSET, she is untouchable – but doesn’t want to be. I loved this character and wanted to see her succeed. Does she? You’ll have to read this novella to find that out!
Do I recommend this read? Abso-friggin-lutely, I do! I think even crime fans, who like me, might like to dip their toes in something different now and again will enjoy this novella! With a pulse-racing plot, fantastic narrative and an intensity that will have you clinging tightly to the arm of your chair, SkyJack is definitely one for the TBR!

I can't help thinking that the jacket could have a revamp to reflect this engaging, exciting story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced dystopian fable
A very readable tale of what might come to pass. I finished it in one sitting as the plot drives you forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Frighteningly Realistic Dystopian Story
For a Novella this story really packs a punch. I was invested in the characters straight away and instantly related to what they were trying to achieve. The protagonist is innocent yet plucky and being inside her young mind as she struggles to make sense of life after "The Fall" allows the reader to see what's happening from all perspectives.
I like that a main character is deaf and the use of sign language and that he shows strength rather than being portrayed as a victim.
Best lines: "A figure clad in black crumples to our left, swallowed by the yawning darkness as if he were never there."
A great dystopian story and what's most disturbing is how real it felt. If The Fall ever happens, I can see the women who survive being hidden away just like Maddy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pace and energy
Real page turner; read it in one sitting. Great pace and energy, never a low, dull or dry moment. Maddy is a very real and exciting lead character. Leaves you wanting to know more. This is not normally a genre I'd read but it got me hooked from the start and would not let go.
