Shane Miller Sleep Diary:

Went to bed at: Late.
How long it took to fall asleep: Forever. I have insomnia. Duh.
Number of caffeinated beverages you had consumed: Zero. Thanks for advising me to quit!

My stress level is off the charts.
I can’t sleep right on a normal day, and lately my days are filled with the best kind of chaos.
My ex-wife and husband number two are filming in Poland for three months, so I’m turning down movie parts to focus on the most important role of my life - impossibly charming and somewhat capable young single dad.

My son won’t stop asking questions.
My daughter won’t brush her teeth unless I sing her showtunes.
Our regular nanny quit.
The only person I could trust to hire as a temp nanny is my best friend’s sister.

If Mary Poppins and Bill Murray had a baby it would be Willa.
Fresh out of grad school and beautifully weird.
She hates my movies, and my kids adore her.
I couldn’t sleep last night because she wasn’t here.
Turns out I can’t sleep unless she’s in my house now.
Turns out she’s what’s been missing from my life all along.
If my friend had any idea what I want to do to his gorgeous troublemaker of a sister, he would smother me with a pillow.

The chances of us succeeding as a couple are about as good as that little indie movie that I made being a huge hit.
But it’s a chance I’m going to take.

Such a cute read!

Such a cute read!
“I need this woman in my life. I’ll taker her any way that I can have her. D— in pants. Heart on lockdown.” Sleeper by Kayley Loring gave me warm and fuzzy feels and made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions. This was my first book by this author and it was just the cutest read. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. Willa was absolutely hilarious and Shane was a total mess, but a very adorable one. I haven’t read many single dad/nanny romances, but this one was super cute and it also had the brother’s best-friend trope tied into it which gave us a bit of angst, which I’m always a fan of. “You’ll look out for her. Like a brother.” “Yup.” I will definitely keep her away from other LA guys. “You can count on me.” Shane Miller is a famous actor, single dad, has his life upside down, and to top it all off cannot beat the terrible insomnia that has been attacking him for months now. When his ex-wife leaves for a movie shooting and his nanny quits, Shane is left to deal with his twin five-year-olds as best he can. It turns out, taking care of two crazy kids is very hard on only one or two hours of sleep. He needs a live in nanny STAT! “Shane Miller needs to stop staring at my mouth or I’m going to fling myself across this table and never stop kissing him.” Willa Todd is super hilarious, carefree, witty, and in love with scents. Her dream is to creat wonderful perfumes that inspire people and make them feel wonderful and at home in their own skin. She’s had a crush on Shane Miller for as long as she can remember. He’s been best friends with her brother for years and her very first famous crush. When her brother throws out the brilliant idea for her to babysit Shane’s kids she jumps on the opportunity. What could go wrong? After all, she’s totally OVER gorgeous Shane, right? I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two. Their quick and witty interactions were hilarious and their banter was so much fun to read. Their relationship evolved well and I highly enjoyed the twins and how they fit perfectly with Willa’s craziness. It was so lovely to see how they all fell in love with each other. I’ll definitely be checking out more books by this author. “I am hopelessly in love with this woman, and I don’t want her to go anywhere without me.” *A huge thanks to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with an eARC for review. All thoughts are my own.*

Can we all just agree that Ms. Kayley Loring is a national treasure? Agreed. OMG I have never thirsted for a fictional man as much as I have for Shane Miller. That man is a delight. Perfect blend of easy going charm and responsible father that doesn’t have it all together but still makes it look good. His POVs were gold!!!! Love me some Shane. And I’ll probably be saying “that’s so Wizard” forever now. His character truly felt like a real man trying to find a semblance of the man he once was or wants to be. He has needs, but always always has his dad hat on at all times. Good papa. And Willa Todd was so freakin cute!!! I loved her and her weirdo tendencies.
From their first innocent and hilarious meeting twelve years prior on the set of his tv show to their unexpected reunion, something was always there under the surface.
My gahd!!! The sexual chemistry between these two, hot!!! Too hot! So intense. So passionate and fun. These two had it going on. They were so made for each other. From their playful banter to their grown up play time 😉, perfection 👌.
Annnnd let’s not forget the twins, Summer and Lucky. So so so adorable. I love when authors fully incorporate their children characters into the story and not just make them into props or plot devices. They were fully fledged characters and stole the show whenever they were in the scene. And now I feel like watching “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Kayley Loring has outdone herself again!!! Always funny, sweet, charming and sincere. It’s romantic and a healthy portrayal of love. I could go on and on, but just read this and fall in love with Shane and Willa. It’s awesome 👏. Now I’ll just have to wait until next spring for Nico Todd’s story. Yay!!! Can’t wait! Happy reading 📖

Overall, this was a light enjoyable read. It has many pluses and only a few minuses.

    Spoilers Below

    Pluses:
The heroine is demonstrably intelligent in both her profession and in regards to... we will say relations as reviews get blocked if you use the three letter s word.
Side characters, for the most part, act as how brothers and small children act to a degree.
The ex wife is not framed as evil or as a means of making the heroine seem better.
This cannot be emphasized enough, the hero is not an inept dad nor is he a rude alpha who starts out antagonizing the heroine. He is a good man. It has been awhile since I've seen a guy written as a non alpha, non jerk, non rude, non sex fiend who normally discards people except for this strangely average woman who somehow is different from every single person he treats likes trash.
The struggle of aligning careers and ambitions to relationships is an actual real problem many couples face. Sure, the characters' careers are less common but the struggle is relatable. This is not some weird but the mob is after me, or she has to marry so and so in order to receive her inherence, or a generic communication problem that could be cleared up with a simple conversation.

    Minuses
The brother/best friend character gets barely any pages which is weird for someone who would be around a lot more often.
The weight of becoming a significant other to a famous person is barely explored.
There's little issue over and employee/employer relationship.
It's a very light hearted book that will not likely spur you into changing your mind, educating yourself, or having any sort of introspection. It is purely entertainment for entertainment's value. Some people would say that is not the point of the romance genre, but I wish more books could prove those some people wrong.

Those are some nitpicky minuses. If you want a light, entertaining read with good guys and women who are not obnoxious give this one a try.

Have you ever read a book that is so sweet, romantic and fun that it gives you goosebumps while reading?
So di I, with this book.

Shane, single dad to twins. He played on TV as a child with Nico, Willa's brother. Willa is going to work for Shane as a nanny to his twins. Willa had a bit of a crush on Shane when he was the star of a teen series (she was 12 at the time).

So Willa is the nanny of his children and Shane can't take his eyes off her.
Willa hasn't really forgotten the crush she had on him when she was a kid.
The twins - Summer and Lucky are 5 years old and they just perfect! It's always fun to have playful and funny children in the story.
It's fun to combine a little laughs, a little seriousness and a lot of romance...

I really liked Shane and his honesty. I really liked his kindness.
I didn't just say I had goosebumps. This happened mostly in Shane's internal monologues.
Something about him was like such an open wound full of emotions.
Willa's work was special! The author was absolutely brilliant here!
She went to Paris to study the art of combining scents - something like that. A kind of chemistry but of smells to produce perfumes, aromatic oils, etc.
When was the last time you read a book that focuses a lot on escapes but on an understandable, logical and explained level!
The descriptions of the smells in books is a must and it's one of my favorite things about books - that's why I prefer books to movies!
And to read about someone who mixes all kinds of scents to produce a certain scent - crazy.

There was something very innocent about Willa and Shane's connection and at the same time there was something very sexy.

Of course this book is highly recommended!

I recently came upon Keyley's work and I absolutely love it! This was her second book I've read/listen to and I loved every second! Funny, full of emotion, love, steamy moments. I couldn't stop listening, exactly the right amount of everything. Excellent job by both narrators as well, I loved when Teddy Hamilton sang, it was unexpected and absolutely adorable! Both are top in their field and made the whole story even better.
    Thank you!

Willa has loved Shane since she was twelve and now she's going to be his nanny. Should be fine. Twins, a gorgeous actor dad and a nutty perfumer nanny just might make a family. Hot and steamy friends to lovers romance.
