Shane Miller Sleep Diary:

Went to bed at: Late.
How long it took to fall asleep: Forever. I have insomnia. Duh.
Number of caffeinated beverages you had consumed: Zero. Thanks for advising me to quit!

My stress level is off the charts.
I can’t sleep right on a normal day, and lately my days are filled with the best kind of chaos.
My ex-wife and husband number two are filming in Poland for three months, so I’m turning down movie parts to focus on the most important role of my life - impossibly charming and somewhat capable young single dad.

My son won’t stop asking questions.
My daughter won’t brush her teeth unless I sing her showtunes.
Our regular nanny quit.
The only person I could trust to hire as a temp nanny is my best friend’s sister.

If Mary Poppins and Bill Murray had a baby it would be Willa.
Fresh out of grad school and beautifully weird.
She hates my movies, and my kids adore her.
I couldn’t sleep last night because she wasn’t here.
Turns out I can’t sleep unless she’s in my house now.
Turns out she’s what’s been missing from my life all along.
If my friend had any idea what I want to do to his gorgeous troublemaker of a sister, he would smother me with a pillow.

The chances of us succeeding as a couple are about as good as that little indie movie that I made being a huge hit.
But it’s a chance I’m going to take.

Such a cute read!

Such a cute read!
“I need this woman in my life. I’ll taker her any way that I can have her. D— in pants. Heart on lockdown.” Sleeper by Kayley Loring gave me warm and fuzzy feels and made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions. This was my first book by this author and it was just the cutest read. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. Willa was absolutely hilarious and Shane was a total mess, but a very adorable one. I haven’t read many single dad/nanny romances, but this one was super cute and it also had the brother’s best-friend trope tied into it which gave us a bit of angst, which I’m always a fan of. “You’ll look out for her. Like a brother.” “Yup.” I will definitely keep her away from other LA guys. “You can count on me.” Shane Miller is a famous actor, single dad, has his life upside down, and to top it all off cannot beat the terrible insomnia that has been attacking him for months now. When his ex-wife leaves for a movie shooting and his nanny quits, Shane is left to deal with his twin five-year-olds as best he can. It turns out, taking care of two crazy kids is very hard on only one or two hours of sleep. He needs a live in nanny STAT! “Shane Miller needs to stop staring at my mouth or I’m going to fling myself across this table and never stop kissing him.” Willa Todd is super hilarious, carefree, witty, and in love with scents. Her dream is to creat wonderful perfumes that inspire people and make them feel wonderful and at home in their own skin. She’s had a crush on Shane Miller for as long as she can remember. He’s been best friends with her brother for years and her very first famous crush. When her brother throws out the brilliant idea for her to babysit Shane’s kids she jumps on the opportunity. What could go wrong? After all, she’s totally OVER gorgeous Shane, right? I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two. Their quick and witty interactions were hilarious and their banter was so much fun to read. Their relationship evolved well and I highly enjoyed the twins and how they fit perfectly with Willa’s craziness. It was so lovely to see how they all fell in love with each other. I’ll definitely be checking out more books by this author. “I am hopelessly in love with this woman, and I don’t want her to go anywhere without me.” *A huge thanks to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with an eARC for review. All thoughts are my own.*

This is a cute book involving a preteen crush on a young actor and finding a way to make it work 12 years later.

I liked Willa and her quirky nose. As a budding perfumer she is adorable. I liked Shane and his sleep diaries. Hilarious. He is self deprecating and insightful. His kids are cute, if a bit annoying. But I guess that is expected from 5 year olds.

A good peek into child stars and growing up famous. I really enjoyed the heat and heart of this book. Looking forward to her brother/his best friend’s story.

Have you ever read a book that is so sweet, romantic and fun that it gives you goosebumps while reading?
So di I, with this book.

Shane, single dad to twins. He played on TV as a child with Nico, Willa's brother. Willa is going to work for Shane as a nanny to his twins. Willa had a bit of a crush on Shane when he was the star of a teen series (she was 12 at the time).

So Willa is the nanny of his children and Shane can't take his eyes off her.
Willa hasn't really forgotten the crush she had on him when she was a kid.
The twins - Summer and Lucky are 5 years old and they just perfect! It's always fun to have playful and funny children in the story.
It's fun to combine a little laughs, a little seriousness and a lot of romance...

I really liked Shane and his honesty. I really liked his kindness.
I didn't just say I had goosebumps. This happened mostly in Shane's internal monologues.
Something about him was like such an open wound full of emotions.
Willa's work was special! The author was absolutely brilliant here!
She went to Paris to study the art of combining scents - something like that. A kind of chemistry but of smells to produce perfumes, aromatic oils, etc.
When was the last time you read a book that focuses a lot on escapes but on an understandable, logical and explained level!
The descriptions of the smells in books is a must and it's one of my favorite things about books - that's why I prefer books to movies!
And to read about someone who mixes all kinds of scents to produce a certain scent - crazy.

There was something very innocent about Willa and Shane's connection and at the same time there was something very sexy.

Of course this book is highly recommended!

"It just took Shane about twelve years longer to realize what you knew when you met him."
Look, everything about this book is so wizard. What do you mean you don't know what that means? Well, it means you haven't read it. Spoiler alert: it means this book was out of this world for me. It's not my favorite of Kayley's simply because... A Very Bossy Christmas is proving hard to dethrone.

Shane is... I honestly don't even know how to describe him, because he's so perfect I can't believe I can only meet him in the pages of this book. Seriously. There's so much to this guy, there's so much passion in him for everything he does. There's so much adorable cheesiness about him. I love the way he is with his kids. I adore his journal entries. And I share the same lack of sleep. Also, his passion seriously extends to the bedroom, and other rooms.

I love Willa and the way she sees the world. I love that people think she's so sweet and innocent, but she's really not. She's so driven and she knows what she wants to do with her life. She's known it for a very long time. I'm so glad she doesn't doubt herself or who she is.

"I remember everything about that first time I met you. I remember everything about every second I’ve spent with you. I want to spend all the seconds with you."
Willa had the biggest crush on Shane when he starred in a hit TV show as a teenager, along with her brother. She was only 12 at the time, but she did one of those magazine quizzes and she was sure she was meant to be Shane's wife in the future. You know, those quizzes we all took when we were teens.

Anyway, the future seemed to be leading them in different directions. Shane got married and had kids. Then he got divorced. Willa was doing her own thing, trying to get her career started as a perfumer, and living in France for a while.
These days, Shane has insomnia. He can't sleep for the life of him. He's exhausted. And he needs help, and a nanny for his kids. What could be better than his best friend's sister coming over to help?

These two are incredible together, I can't stress this enough. Their chemistry is off the charts. Shane's small gestures, how cheesy he is with Willa, and how much they want to give each other everything. That little revelation by Shane's mom near the end that got my heart beating out of my chest. All the sighing and small awww moments between them.
There's no angst in this book.
I swooned so hard I may need to get my head out of the clouds now, but it felt just right.

And that's definitely so wizard too!

The overall plot and characters are super cute, and if you're looking for a book to make you laugh and be pretty much pure fluff, you've found the perfect book and you'll probably give it 5 stars.

I struggled to connect with the characters. The overuse of passive language drove me to distraction and made the book feel like one big narration, and not in a good way. The journals were distracting and I skimmed a lot of them, including both epilogues.

All of this surprised me, because I started with Funny Business, and that was excellent! Highly recommend! This one is clearly earlier in Kayley Loring's author journey, and so the issues I struggled with in this book don't appear in others.

I'll be continuing with this series because I want to know the stories behind all these guys before reading the one after Funny Business.

Worth the read, but if you're a picky or snobby reader (like me) this one might be tougher to get through.

I've heard it's way better on audio! Sadly, I don't like audio.

I recently came upon Keyley's work and I absolutely love it! This was her second book I've read/listen to and I loved every second! Funny, full of emotion, love, steamy moments. I couldn't stop listening, exactly the right amount of everything. Excellent job by both narrators as well, I loved when Teddy Hamilton sang, it was unexpected and absolutely adorable! Both are top in their field and made the whole story even better.

Willa has loved Shane since she was twelve and now she's going to be his nanny. Should be fine. Twins, a gorgeous actor dad and a nutty perfumer nanny just might make a family. Hot and steamy friends to lovers romance.
