Slow Birth: a Heat of Love bonus novella Kindle Edition
Jason and Vale are back in this side story set in the Heat of Love universe!
A romantic getaway turns dramatic when an unexpected heat descends on Vale, leaving Jason with no choice but to act. The resulting pregnancy is dangerous for Vale and terrifying for Jason, but with the help of friends and family, they choose to embrace their uncertain future. Together they find all the love, joy, and heat they need to guide them through!
While this story follows the characters from Slow Heat, it will be most enjoyable if read directly after Alpha Heat, as it takes place contemporaneously with that book.
This is a gay romance novella by Leta Blake, consisting of 50,000 words of bonus material with a strong happy ending for the characters of Jason and Vale from Slow Heat. This bonus story is set in a critically acclaimed, non-shifter omegaverse, with alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2019What a great supplement to the Heat of Love series. Welcome back to the wondrous world where there are no women. Re- fall in love with all our old friends: Jason, Vale, Xan, Urho, Caleb, Yosef, Rosen, Miner & Yale. There is more humor, angst, chaos, unexpected heat, mpreg, forbidden love, and the sweetest baby.
This reunites us with Jason & Vale. When a unplanned heat results in Vale's pregnancy, hard choices must be made. Vale is at a severe risk of dying trying to give birth. But he wants this. Jason is panicked. Their doctor friend, Urho, says he thinks things will be fine, if Jason continues to stretch Vale daily. Who doesn't like fisting! When the flu epidemic sends the three of them to stay with Xan and Caleb, things get interesting. When labor and heat coincide, chaos reigns.
Don't worry, there is HEA.
This is a lovely novella. I read it in one sitting. You will, quite simply, love this book. Please read the first two books. You will love them as well. This should follow Alpha Heat.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex, and is intended for mature readers only.

Such a Wonderful Book! No Spoilers.
I do wish that the book continued a little bit after the Birth of Viro, I’d love to know what if he was Alpha, Beta or Omega. So HOPEFULLY he’ll get a book in the future?! That would be so awesome.
Leta Blake’s Omegaverse is So Unique & it’s one of my top favored MM Omegaverse’s.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2024I was on pins and needles while reading this. I kept thinking that surely the author will give us a happy ending. Thank goodness, that’s what the author gave us!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2019Through no fault of their own Jason and Vale are stranded in a snowstorm when Vale’s heat arrives unexpectedly. Having no choice but to take care of his omega, Jason gets Vale pregnant. Vale know he can’t carry a baby and that trying will most certainly end in death for both Pater and child. When Urho says there might be a possibility he could carry the baby his mind is set. Jason wants him to abort the child but Vale refuses. Jason wants to hate him for making the decision but he can’t.
This book was an okay read. It just didn’t have the impact of the other books in the series had for me. I like all the characters in the books and most of them played a role in this one. I liked knowing the background of how Vale got pregnant. This story seemed to lack the depth and heart I’d expect from a book set in this universe.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2022This is a non-shifter mpreg romance, the 2.5 book in a series, that should be read in order! This story takes place about 4 years after the happenings of book 1, “Slow Heat” where we first meet Vale & Jason. This story covers an unexpected heat and possibly deadly outcome for Vale. It was quite emotional and a fine addition to the series!
Spoiler warning:
There is a level of filthy & hot in this one that definitely surpasses book one as well as some things that could be triggering to those who have experienced domestic or sexual violence or pregnancy loss.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2019I was so glad she gave us Vale and Jasons tale of becoming parents. Even though we know how it ended, it was still good to get it from their POV. I loved how Vale told Jason he has a week to cry and then he needed to step up. They work so good as a couple.
My only issue, it has a ton of sex, like every page. I get Vale was horny but dang. If not for the sex, it would have been 4 chapters long.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2019Vale and Jason are back, and we hear their side of the story on the birth of their beloved son. We read Urho and Xan's version, and watched Urho try to take care of an Omega giving birth, an omega in heat, and an alpha sick with the flu. I always wondered what happened in Jason and Val ' s when their baby was born. We get to read every worry, experience the joy of producing a new life, and cry reading about Jason worrying for his beloved omega.
This story is an excellent addition the The Omega Heat universe, and will bring all sides into a well told story.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2022This was the perfect closure for Jason and Vale story!
I’m amazed about how well described their fears and insecurities were shown, how realistic they felt.
And the final chapter, absolutely madness everywhere at that place, it was almost tragically funny at some moments, one could almost touch the anxiety in the air.
The only trigger warning I can think of is: a little blood and birth related descriptions.
It was just perfect! Absolutely recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars And baby makes three
A lovely ending to Jason and Vale’s story. I just wish it could have gone on for a little longer. We already knew how the events took place from the previous book, Alpha Heat, with some passages even being repeated from that book. And although this story was written from Jason and Vale’s POV, we still knew what took place. I must say though, I did love all the new things that happed with Jason and Vale, especially when they visited Vale’s newly renovated family cabin in the mountains. And I will concede that the ending did close the circle. I’m hoping that they decide to keep the cabin and not sell it. It could be their special get-a-way where they all make new memories.
Four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars So beautiful
I love omegaverse is this series! The books manage to capture vulnerability, sensuality, and strength with such perfect mix! While the world itself is pretty brutal in this universe, relationships in here have a balance of tradition, progressiveness, and respect that doesn't leave omegas seem weak and child-like or aggressive and egocentric. Neither does the story berate alphas' protective instincts. It rather offers a sort of understanding and humor about it. In a weird way, this feels like a real world where both alphas and omegas get their own problems and hopes. As for this story in particular, well, it was smutty XD which is not a problem at all XDD

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!
It was great to see the conclusion of the main characters journey. This is a great series of books and would recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Indulgent
When you just want sweet romance with just a dash of angst, the author delivers. The world building is seamless which permits the read of this book as a stand alone. Still, there's just enough clues about the secondary characters that wets your curiosity to go read their stories in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow birth
a good one that nevertheless captured me less than the previous volumes, perhaps because I already knew how it would end.
