Snow Fallen (DCI Murrain Book 3) Kindle Edition
by Alex Walters
One winter's night, a lone figure arrives on foot in a remote Pennine village.
The next morning, as the first heavy snow begins to fall, a man's body is discovered in the village churchyard. Anne Tilston, one of three sisters living in a brooding run-down house in the shadow of the church, realises that the dead man is her father, a disgraced former senior police officer long estranged from his family.
As DCI Kenny Murrain's team arrive in the village to investigate the unexplained death, a further body is discovered in a nearby field – a young man from the village with no apparent connection to Tilston or his daughters. Meanwhile Murrain and DI Joe Milton are investigating the disappearance of a young woman. The case appears to be part of a string of similar missing persons cases, although with no evidence to date of foul play.
With the snow continuing to fall, another body is discovered, and Murrain finds himself stranded with his team in the sisters' house with a seemingly motiveless killer waiting outside in the night.
Desperately liaising with Milton, Murrain realises he has only hours to discover the truth and to prevent the murderer from killing again. And it seems the answer lies within Murrain's own team...

- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2021Thought it might be another
boring serial killer story. However, it has many twists and turns and comes down to family dynamics.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2020After the disappointing second book in the series I almost didn't bother with this one. It was a pleasant surprise, almost seems like a different person wrote it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read
Well,I felt cold because of the snow all of the time I was reading it, but it was a good story and kept me interested all of the way through .

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a "just one more chapter" book - I couldn't put it down. Brilliant.
This is the perfect creepy, spooky, breath-holding, beautifully written book. It has everything you need in a crime/thriller/police procedural novel - and then some! Not only are we reunited with the magnificent Kenny Murrain and Marie, Will and Joe - but we have snowmageddon in a remote Pennine hamlet; a past that erupts to haunt more than one of the characters; a spooky gothic pile inhabited by some very weird sisters; Kenny and co stranded overnight in said house as the snow deepens, the murders increase and a mad serial killer stalks the village in the darkness.... Bliss!

The third in the series and also the best. It had me guessing to the very end.
Alex Walters would be my favourite author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb
This is really well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat to the very end. Murrain is a character that is believable and relatable, despite his 'feelings'. It all adds to a brilliant character leading a great team.
