- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2019Well written, well edited, well ebooked. The third book in the series Echoes of War. Lots of action, many booms, lots of broken and/or dead bodies.
From my reviews of the first two books: The bad guys are pretty much standard fair, men and women who want (and want to use) power. "The state is the embodiment of the people. It can't be wrong." What makes this series unlike almost all modern science fiction is that (1) some of the good guys are believers (in various flavors) and (2) the good guys are not terribly sure of rightness of the path they follow.
How do you keep going in a long war? "Thrity years of this war ... how any of us have our humanity is beyond me."
Warning: Not suitable for snowflakes (lots of violence) or SJWs (the bad guys are too much like their heroes).
Another interesting book about warriors behave during long wars is Frank Herbert's "Dragon in the Sea" (also sold as "Under Pressure".) Pure sci fi, no weird aliens or drugs or ..., just men coping with a war that has no end.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2024This series is refreshing and thought provoking. Excellent twist on conventional sci-fi, but a clear focus on humanity and the big questions of life. Well done Daniel Gibbs!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2024Another great and fast paced read about the exploits of David Cohen. Thoroughly enjoying this series from Daniel Gibbs. It appears the author has done his research since he is applying CIC with excellent narratives
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2022David and his crew are finishing their shake down cruise and are sent to join the armada and attack a league of Sol installation and Armada.. when the Battle due to new technology turns to the worst the Admiral puts David in charge of the fleet and tells David to get them out of there and bring them back as soon as he can. With a 48 hour turn around and a way to defeat the new technology this is what happens.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2025This was another good book with a lot of battle in it most was in space but it also had some good battle going on in a big space station. They had lost about a third of their ships and Marines at the first attack but then things started to go their way but it cost them a lot.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2024I have real enjoyed this series so far, I love to character development of all the major characters and the development of the story
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2021I am trying to write a review at the same time I am trying to catch my breath. This book is so full of adventure and action you have to remember to breathe. This is the third book in the series and I can't wait to read the next one. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2019This was the second in the series that I read. I felt that the editing was not quite as good as Book 1, and there were certain parts that did not seem to be written by Mr. Gibbs. I found those somewhat abstruse. His writing is clear and interesting and needs little assistance.
I very much appreciated Lt. Colonel's Calvin Demood's struggle with his moral compass. Well done! I particularly liked that he was not left to his own devices to try to resolve this enormous, and common, internal conflict.
Of course, the Saurians were superb! And the science fiction technology is very interesting and well-orchestrated.
One significant con....We could have done well without rather lengthy religious services composed mostly of rote prayers. Sincere personal prayer is one thing, rote prayer is an entirely different subject. I did enjoy, however, the notion that another form of Christianity might exist without compromising its tenets. That was good to chew on.
Overall, these are solid books with interesting science fiction technologies and moral dilemmas to ponder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Echos of War
I'm thoroughly enjoying this series - I've read the first 3 back to back.
The aspect of religion and beliefs rounds out the characters in a way not normally seen in this genre.
