Siege of Shadows (The Keeper Chronicles Series Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 466 ratings

Can Sini keep her past from destroying everyone's future?

Sini has finally found a family with the Keepers.

After escaping from a childhood on the street and years of slavery, Sini's new life as a Keeper should be idyllic. But she can't shake the feeling she just doesn't belong.

Not only because she's the first female Keeper in centuries. Her magic is too different to be useful. And Lukas, her foster brother who loved and protected her from the worst ravages of slavery, is now being accused of terrible things.

When the Keepers are called to the capitol to address this threat, she finds herself once again out of place. As much as Sini doesn't want to believe it, the evidence is growing that Lukas is amassing an army along the southern border. He's using his magic to poison the minds of Queensland's people, and his dragon to spread death and destruction.

To save Queensland, Sini teams up with Will and Alaric to enlist the aid of the dwarves. Sini's magical powers finally begin to stir, but with a frightening intensity.

Will Sini learn to control her magic, or will she lose everything to the brother she doesn't want to fight?

Siege of Shadows is the third and final book in the engaging world of The Keeper Chronicles. Great for fans of Brandon Sanderson, Lindsay Buroker, and Robin Hobb!

JA Andrews is a writer, wife, mother, and unemployed rocket scientist. She doesn't regret the rocket science degree, but finds it generally inapplicable in daily life. Except for the rare occurrence of her being able to definitively state, "That's not rocket science." She does, however, love the stars.

She began writing stories and creating coloring books because these sorts of things need an outlet. And now good markers are a deductible business expense.

She spends an inordinate amount of time at home, with her family, who she adores, and lives deep in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, where she can see more stars than she ever imagined.

One of the Best Fantasy Series of Our Time!
"Sometimes life changes you, and the people you used to know aren't as comfortable of a fit as they used to be. And people you thought you'd never want to be near turn out to feel like family." - Siege of Shadows by J.A.Andrews ***** OH MAN! This series was probably even greater than the last I read by J.A. Andrews. All of these books are wonderful picks. I'm so glad I was able to finish the year on such strong notes. These books are AMAZING and if you love fantasy, be sure to put them on your TBR and read them soon. I could never have predicted the ending, and it's kinda' tragic for some of the characters which I kind of appreciated. J.A. Andrews does not safeguard all of her characters. Not everyone is going to live, each and every time. This is an author who will keep you on your feet...and yet it's not the same drama as say, Game of Thrones. I loved Sini's character way more than I thought I would have and I related so much to her. Lukas was a pain...but I understood his character all too well and I was able to see him as a very believable character in the end. Give this series a READ!

I read A LOT of these genres series and this one tops the list. Initially I was getting the impression it was to be a “slow-go” but pay attention. The character and relationship development is excellent and is extremely important throughout. Highly recommend and will see what else I can find from JA Andrews.

"The day is shaped not by the violence of the storm, but by the fall of the light and the voice of the rain." JA

"Its just rude really. I just popped off UF where the feelings are shallow and the stabbings are deep. And you go right for the heart ❤" ME, complaining about feeling feelings not even 10% in.

There are many things to love about Janice, foremost being her incredible person, that naturally reflects in the deep, heart-wringing books she writes.

Her books are patient, and revealing but at a pace that you didn't realize you had learned the lesson until it is burned into your marrow with bitter sweet awareness.

This follows Sini, a former slave, now keeper (learner and wielder of magic) who is a true sunchild (not just a pretend Coloradan sunchild like me). Somehow the heart ache starts early with Sini, and the twins and the need for her to find herself after all she's been through and all the lies she believed about herself.

Is beautiful but not easy, joyful but not always happy. And somehow even though I ache I'm pleased for having read it and hope to be as good a person as her characters are.

True epic, with a dash of romantic tension. HEA but there are losses.

    Good series. Good human.

Fast paced from the beginning, and filled with intrigue, drama, and a heavy plot line.

Once I start a trilogy, or series, I tend not to read the cover description, (it builds up for a more interesting and surprising read when you’re not sure of what’s expected to unfold) so I was more than surprised when this 3rd in the series began surrounded around Sini, and what appeared to match up with her being the main character of this one.

The previous two, which I found very enjoyable focused on two male Keepers, especially since it’s been stressed numerous times that female Keepers are very rare, and the last one, I believe, was over eighty to a hundred years ago.

On top of that, Rass and Douglon, two of my favorite characters from the previous books, finally make an appearance, just before the halfway point of the book. And what a phenomenal appearance it is! So extraordinarily well written, it’s another point in the book I couldn’t drag myself away from, even if the house was on fire. Ok-well maybe that’s a bit dramatic-but I’d probably have the opened book or Kindle in hand, reading, as I was running out the door. Lol

Greatly enjoyed the ending, and thrilled to hear there’s another series based upon similarities between these. Sounds like the author has a million ideas as to how to keep entertaining us with this wonderful storyline-just hoping the excitement and attraction to this world doesn’t fall off, as so many different spin-offs tend to do. Kind of like that weekly show that should’ve retired on a high note, rather than embarrassingly dragging it out, or the older QB that didn’t know when to call it quits. Haha

Absolutely loved this 3rd book in the trilogy as well as the first 2. Don’t understand why these are not more well known and read. Excellent stories that are fast paced and fun to read and with painful enough to believe but still happy endings. Will definitely read more from this author!

I have started more series, only to discover they aren't finished...'next book 2 years off'. I read so much, there's no way I'll recall them when the next one shows up. But this series was complete. And, oh, so satisfying. The only thing I would ask of the author (s), reviewers, or Amazon is to TELL US the series is not yet complete. When I like an author, I follow them, and will gladly wait. I don't care for reviews that describe the story. So, I'll just say this... The characters are well fleshed out, and relatable. The story is compelling, and engaging. I loved this series. It's a new favorite.

Every JA Andrew’s book I have read thus far has been good, clean writing with an endearing cast of characters, just the right number of descriptors, themes that make you think, some really insightful quotes about being human, and doesn’t feel formulaic, even if it does mildly follow the fantasy formula. I’ve greatly enjoyed every single one.

What a cracking final instalment of the Keepers Trilogy the Seige Of Shadows, and JA Andrews finishes it beautifully. We follow the new keeper Sini in this book. Will she fit in with the keepers after being saved from a life of inslavment and learn to utilise her powers
whose magical power is in summoning light as energy and healing. Being the first woman keeper in years and maybe the most powerful keeper ever. War is brewing and its coming to Queensland by none other than Sini's adopted brother Lukas, with his hatred for the keepers and queenslanders. Sini is thrown into the deep end and must choose her future over her past. It’s another classic good versus evil fantasy full of action and some plot twists, magic, dwarves, elves and dragons. A fantastic end to a gripping series. If you love epic fantasy, you will love this, Highly recommended....😁💙💥🔥

I waited a while for this one, so I'm mortified I didn't write the review the instant I finished it.
I remember vividly my reaction to finishing - There HAS to be more! I love this world so much.
As I read each new Keeper Chronicles story, I would never have believed it possible to care for characters more than in that book, but Ms Andrews' ability to keep supplying even more endearing, likeable and credible characters knows no bounds.
I was glad to see the return of some previous faves, (Sora and Will, you know who you are!), and Lukas and Rhett turned out to be so much more than I thought they were. But Sini and Roan stole the show, deservedly so.
And a special shout out to Douglon - I can defo see John Rhys-Davies (Gimli from LotR) playing him in the movie.
I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but the final twist was one of the best I've ever read - I chuckled greatly - defo didn't see it coming!
