The Difference Between Somehow and Someway (The Difference Trilogy Book 2) Kindle Edition
After surviving a plane crash, I was lucky to be alive. It was a harsh truth, but one that changed my perspective on how fragile life could be.
So when a fellow survivor caught my eye, I owed it to myself to take a chance and follow my heart.
Bowen Michaels was guarded and broody, but I saw through his well-formed armor. Much like me, he was broken and lost, but together we found our way through the darkness.
For a brief moment, wrapped in his arms, it felt like maybe he was right about fate and we’d been destined to find each other all along.
But when buried secrets of the past erupt, igniting us both, it was hard to believe we’d been fated for anything other than failure.
The world gave me everything.
And then it took it all away.

About the author

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four hilarious children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys movies that can surprise her with a twist, charcuterie boards, and her mildly neurotic golden retriever. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a glass of wine by her side.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI cannot tell you how anxious I was to get my hands on The Difference Between Somehow and Someway. Not surprising as the jaw-dropper of a cliffy in The Difference Between Somebody and Someone, the first instalment in The Difference Trilogy, left me with so many questions. Although Martinez shed light on most of them, I never expected her to drop the bombshell that she did at the end of this one. I mean, how much can a reader take when every emotion is so raw!
Most likely, I had slipped into my comfort zone while enjoying these two love birds’ relationship progress because if there were a couple made for each other, it is them. However, I knew that when the truth reared its head, I wouldn’t be the only one to be devastated. At times I felt as if Martinez had led me down a path where I couldn’t see the forest for the trees. This is what Martinez does to perfection—pulling your emotional strings, getting you so involved in the story that even trying to guess how the story is going to pan out seems to be the last thing on your mind.
All I yearned for was sunshine and rainbows. Forget that for a lark! But don’t despair too much. The author gives her readers outstanding banter, sob-your-heart-out moments and heartwarming scenes, which will make you swoon over a guy who deserves it all. Bowen—ooh my, I have no words to describe how much his actions affected me. And what about the heroine in the story? Yes, Remi is undoubtedly lovable, but the big but existed to such an extent that I could have jumped into my e-reader to make her see the light day regardless of what had happened.
Destiny plays an important role, but is it enough? Lies pile up to such a degree that not only made me root for both of them but want them to find peace of mind. I am so looking forward to seeing what Martinez has to offer in The Difference Between Someday and Forever. Bravo!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseStop right now! Thank you very much. (And now I've got that Spice Girls song in my head as I type this.) This is where I tell you that The Difference Between Somehow and Someway is NOT a standalone, and it MUST be read AFTER The Difference Between Somebody and Someone. Both titles are penned by Aly Martinez and are part of her The Difference trilogy, and yes, that means books one and two end in cliffhangers. The conclusion to the series arrives mid-April, so if you choose to wait till the trilogy is complete, it won't feel like forever and you may spare yourself from feeling super antsy.
Book two picks up where book one left off, and well, that's basically all I'm going to tell you about that. Like I hinted at in my review for the first book, the less you know, the better. Bowen Michaels and Remi Grey's story is complicated, and that's me over-simplifying it. They have life-altering events that hit them, and Aly Martinez makes sure her readers are aware of what happened in both the past and the present. There's a twist at the end, one that makes absolute sense when you run through certain bits and pieces in these first two books. Suffice it to say, I'm already counting the days until I have the third and final book in the Difference trilogy in my oh-so-greedy hands. I'm handing The Difference Between Somehow and Someway 4.5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI've read a lot of books, but I have NEVER read a storyline like this.
From the minute I read those last few pages of The Difference Between Somebody and Someone, I was literally chomping at the bit to get to this one. From the moment this book hit my kindle, I just had to begin reading and I literally could not put it down until I had finished. This is a storyline that has owned me with it's emotional depth and intensity. It's unique and captivating, heart wrenching and once again, I am left totally gut punched. I don't know what to do with myself right now, and I don't want to read anything else, I just want the conclusion.
I can't wrap my head around what I just read. And nothing I can say would do it justice. It's another level of brilliance from Aly Martinez. I know I’m being totally vague, and this review isn’t making a whole lot of sense, but this is one of those books that you cannot say a huge amount about the actual content of the storyline, for fear of giving massive chunk of the plot away or what will ultimately turn out to be a spoiler. I felt so many things, at so many different times. It was an endless array of emotions. One minute I was laughing, the next mini I was gasping. It's THAT read. So twisty and turbulent, yet achingly heartbreaking. A book of ENDLESS feels.
Yes it ends in another major cliffhanger. Did I see it coming? Yes, I had an inkling at the beginning, but reading it fully in the face to completely understand it sucked the breath out of my lungs. So many unanswered questions that will surely all come in due course when the next book is released. Just bravo. I don't think it gets better than this. What a wicked web Aly Martinez has weaved. I can't wait to see where the conclusion goes. Holy hell. God I need that book now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars All is not what it seems!!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGosh this second edition of the trilogy series is equally absorbing, fascinating, and jaw dropping as the first. Twists and turns abound, and my goodness the first book finished with a cliffhanger, we’re this one picks up. We spend time continuing to go back and move forward, until we appear up to date. However all is not what it seems again. Talk about intrigue, and suspense. The characters both human and canine are totally adorable and believable. The romantic scenes are wonderful, but truth a realisation appear and disappear in a blink. Left wanting book 3. So very much. How Aly thinks of such absorbing plots is way off the page. A wonderful mind , painting such a delicious story that you want to digest immediately on starting but have to practice patience till book 3.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fated Love
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is somewhat a repeat of book one as the story loops back and forth from past to present as it fills in a few more blanks from book one. It picks up around 70% ending with a twist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely emotional
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI don't like being left with such a cliff hanger. But the characters are so intense and there are so many surprises along the way. I will definitely need to read the last in the series now!
