Livvy goes in search of the ex-Marine that saved her life in Afghanistan while she was on assignment as a photojournalist. Ryan, a friend of Aiden Roshannon, retreated to the solitude of the Big Horn mountains after recovering from the grenade blast that almost claimed his life...and Livvy's. Even through his gruff and hairy exterior Livvy still sees the sexy Marine that she fell for a year before. All Ryan sees is the scar on Livvy's neck that shows he wasn't able to keep her completely safe...even tho it cost him 2 fingers and a chunk of his thigh. Over the following few weeks Livvy slowly burrows her way under Ryan's skin, and into his heart, no matter how hard he tries to resist it. Livvy slowly starts to see the real Ryan emerge until a close call with a brown bear makes Ryan question if he can keep her safe. All Livvy wants is to stay, but not until Ryan asks her to. Can Ryan let the past go and grab onto his future, or will he force Livvy out of his life thinking he's keeping her safer that way?

    I love Em Petrova's books. It's the character development, the plot and how things tied together, more often than not, that let me believe this author is worth reading as soon as a new book is out.
    My assumption was absolutely right with this book.
    Ryan is a stubborn male, ex-marine that lives in isolation by his own choosing after saving the life of a photographer in Afghanistan. Libby is infatuated with Ryan since the day she meets him back there, more so after he saved her life, so she goes into the mountains, finds him and falls head over heels for him. Problem? He's used to his solitude, doesn't believe he's worthy of her love and did I mentioned that he's stubborn?
    So many times I wanted to kick his butt for things he was thinking and by the end of the book, I wanted to strangle him for being ridiculous. Good thing he realized his mistake before it was too late.
    The writing was well done, the vocabulary was no problem at all and the story overall was pretty great.
    I would recommend this book to those that love the wounded hero romances with a heroine that's as stubborn as her male *smile*

    I love all of Em Petrovas books. All have great character development. Great stories. Ryan is a wounded soldier. Closing himself off from people seems to be how he copes with his demons. Until Livvy climbs his mountain to thank him for saving her life. Pushing into his world. But he’s grumpy and sullen. And seems less than happy to see her. Can Liv crack that wall Ryan has around his heart? Great story. Would loved to have learned more about both characters but hope they show up in future books.

I like this author and have been enjoying this series, so I was a little surprised that it did not involve the Roshanin family and we did love those guys, nevertheless we have a new guy and he was just as awesome as the others and the story was just as good..so enjoy!
