Somewhere With You: A Novel: With You Series Book 1 Kindle Edition
In Britney King's powerful novel, reminiscent of the bestselling works of Cecelia Ahern and Jojo Moyes, comes a heartbreaking, yet beautiful tale about the lengths one will go to hold on to love.
Jack Harrison is a relentless overachiever who leaves little in the way of compromise. A businessman to the core--he's hell-bent on being at the top of the food chain. After all, no one can trip you up if you're on top, as he likes to say. The problem for Jack is there's only one thing that continually trips him up—and that's her.
Amelie Rose, with a name like poetry and a heart of gold, as her father always said, is a free-spirited photographer who has managed to land a job at one of the top travel magazines in the world. This is both a blessing and a curse since Amelie never stays in one place for long and has refused to commit to anything—ever.
It might seem to the casual observer that these two have almost nothing in common. But fate would disagree. The story chronicles Jack and Amelie's lives from childhood into adulthood, beginning when they meet as then eight- and ten-year-olds at summer camp specifically designed for children who've lost too much.
As fate steps in, and that first summer seals the deal, they come to depend on each other in ways neither of them expected, with each summer bringing them closer than the last. As they come to terms with life and loss, with hanging on and letting go, they'll teach each other that some bonds are meant to last. Together, they will travel the world, meeting in various places where they'll come together, and fall apart, all the while struggling to discern if the other could possibly be the one.
This unlikely love story takes us on an adventure where two people come of age, fall in and out of love, and question the role timing plays in it all.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love this book so much! It showed different aspects and different point of views from each character! (Jack and Amelie) I loved how Amelie loved Jack, but she didn't show it even though deep inside her heart she knew she loved him so much she couldn't let go! I like how this point is not unravelled till the last few chapters, so the reader wouldn't get distracted by her thoughts. This book should mainly be read by teenagers/young adults, so they see how relationships can tear each other apart and then mend them together! This is one of the main problems in our society these days! ~ It was an exceptional book and definitely deserves 5 stars. For those who haven't read it, you definitely should read it at least twice!!

I enjoyed Jack and Amelie’s story. I really liked that we got to see their relationship in a long term capacity. From summer camp as kids to finding themselves over and over again as adults. These two fight the connection they share, but it’s obvious from the beginning that they have one.
I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to read the book when I first opened it because Jack & Amelie meet at Camp Hope which is the name of a camp my brother went to for kids with cancer. The name brought back so many memories for me, but this camp was different in that the kids were dealing with the loss of one of their parents and Jack & Amelie found ways around making me think about the past -- mostly by sharing their past with me.
Amelie is younger than Jack and throughout the book he calls her kid. It would drive me crazy, but she doesn’t even acknowledge it. She has such a big crush on him at camp and then one summer he crushes her. This was the first time their status was tested, but not the last.
I enjoyed the way Ms King portrayed her characters and allowed us into their heads and to see what they were really feeling and experiencing. The summer after Jack crushed Amelie is the first time he really saves her and while they’re traveling, she brings new light to his world and his feelings capture her nature so well:
This would be the thing Jack would remember about Amelie for the rest of his life. no matter where she was, she always made it seem as though it were the grandest place on earth. When he was with her, she had a certain effect on him that made him question whether or not it might be true. This is as good as it gets, he’d shake his head and think.
I recommend you read this story if you’re looking for a tale that will take you on an adventure through life’s hardest and best times. These two have so much to share with the reader that you can hardly capture it all in one read through. I will likely read this one again and again as it’s really a story worth reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAt 20%, I called it quits. Truthfully, when Jack found the photographs in Amelie's bag, he should have chunked the deuce instead Of the camera, and I should have followed suit. I disliked the heroine and her antics from the onset and she never redeemed herself. After the car incident on the side of the road, I was done. My brain cells were diminishing by the page. Not my cup of tea. Best wishes to the author on future publications.

This is the story of Jack and Amelie, a love story, a mixed up love story. A road trip starts off the beginning, a little crazy relationship. I wanted these two, to succeed, I loved her quirkiness, his straightforwardness, a mixture, made for a great read! Well written, great characters, an interesting story line, a must read! - Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a quick read. It's listed as a 'Coming of Age' because although the characters are now adults, most of the story takes place in the past. The characters meet when they are young and continue to keep in touch throughout the years. There were some heart felt moments that brought tears to my eyes. There is language and some references to sex although not very descriptive. The one scene I felt wasn't written with the finesse that it could have had and that was disappointing since it could have been the culmination of a very poignant, moving moment of the story. I was worried about the other reviews and the lack of a happy ending. If you've learned anything about the H/h during the story you can pretty much draw your own conclusion but there is a sequel that I can't wait to read!!! I'm not one for cliffhangers and you don't have to continue the series but I did enjoy the H/h so I will buy the next book
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2016Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseJack and Amelie, I love them and my heart soared while reading this book. I can't wait to hear what happens, what adventures await them, and how their story evolves!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book was bizarre. It started with two kids at summer camp for kids that lost their parents. Jack knew then he was in love. The story followed their love-hate relationship thru their adult life. To me, there was no reason for the story. It was about their 'sort of ' relationship and their great sex. I didn't think this was a good foundation for an entire book. At the end, the story ended abruptly after another sex session. I would not recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGood book, just kind of strange the way it kept the two main characters together then apart. Sad at times too I guess I just really could not get into it

4.0 out of 5 stars Everyone needs a somewhere 4 1/2*
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI don't know where to start with this one. There been plenty of stories of childhood friends becoming more, finding love, each other, becoming soulmates however this is just so different. The reason for the way Amelie is revealed, then you sort of get why it is the way it is. If you get my drift.
Speaking from personal experience they are not easy people to live with the highs can be very high & the lows, yeah well. The book covers this so well, just so real. They are usually artistic, very talented people they just need steering in the right direction. Jack so focussed, what you both had was amazing. You tried, you helped but yet it wasn't enough. It tore me after you reunited after several years &'you had made other plans. But life deals the cards & as the book was getting near the end I thought oh no it's not going to happen, that HEA you both deserved. It was heart warming even heart breaking at times. A wonderful journey for two with such an unusual, initial meeting.
I'm still undecided about the ending. Yeah it worked, giving the chance for more with these two, yet I sort of felt flat. I really needed an epilogue but then again with these two & the new & improved Jack who knows? Perhaps it was really good for what it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable story. Unputdownable!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this book. I found it hard to put down and had to keep on reading to satisfy the urge to know more. I loved the characters. I felt saddened by their grief and their ups and downs going with them each step of their way. Frustrating in places but I was so into their story I wanted more for them. I loved and sobbed at his mum's letters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspend belief and enjoy the flow
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe hero and heroine each has many emotional difficulties to overcome - the primary one being that they both seemed to have heartless parents who didn't really care about them. I was puzzled by the descriptions of the heroine's mental illness and her dream - it seemed to be going down the route of abuse but that petered out, leaving loose ends and a hole in explaining how she managed her life afterwards. I think the awful parents would have explained enough about their emotional difficulties without that. Apart from that, It flows well and keeps you turning the pages, so it's a good read. I liked the way the characters grew up during the book, so we got to hear about their lives over a long period. The letters from the hero's dead mother were a lovely theme in the book.
