The conclusion to the trilogy, minus the conclusion. I loved the first two books but felt like this book was lacking the depth of emotion and angst between the characters. It’s a cute ending but certaintly left a lot of unanswered questions.
I have loved every bit of Liam and Samantha’s story. I was really hoping for this book to round out the story and just complete it. With all that being said, it’s still a great trilogy and I look forward to Josh’s book.

So I will agree with several reviews that it seemed a somewhat rushed ending and just a bit odd that the epilogue had to be requested from the author, but it didn’t change the way I loved the book and the characters. Both Liam and Samantha are victims of their pasts and are so driven by it that their future always seems to be in question, both literally and figuratively. Lots of action and suspense to keep the reader guessing who, what, where and when. Three books later it all came together in a way that left me fully satisfied and with a smile on my face for how far this couple has come and how they truly worked hard for it and earned their future together.

This is the third book in the trilogy by Skye Warren on the story of Samantha Brooks and Liam North. Sam is a brilliant violinist who was the ward to Liam North, ex soldier and owner of North Security. Sam loves Liam not just as a father figure that he has been to her but as a woman loves a man. Liam loves Samantha as a guardian and has been fighting the love for her as a man. Liam is much older, has seen and done things that are sometimes very ugly, and has had a childhood that was not based on love but abuse. Sam has had a childhood prior to his guardianship of neglect, uncaring father, and a selfish father who wants only money, power and to use her to accomplish these needs. So many powerful men are looking for Samantha for the knowledge she unknowingly possesses because of her father. Liam only wants to protect her with his life even if necessary. So much angst, so many questions. Enjoyed this final book in the series.

Darn! I LOVED this series...but this final book doesn’t live up to the first two. It reads more like the author’s notes rather than a story. I’m not sure what happened. Although a part of me needs to read the conclusion...I’m disappointed that I spent the money on this book. I’ll continue to read her books because overall they’ve been amazing! This one doesn’t sit on the same level as the other 2 in the series....and I’m incredibly disappointed that I spent my summer waiting with such excitement. 3 stars because as a series - this was excellent. But, if you want to save your time and money...I’ll recap the conclusion in 3 sentences and you’ll get the same result.

Absolutely loved this book and this trilogy. The story of Liam and Samantha grows with each chapter. The excitement reaches its crescendo and you can feel it as you read it. There’s a darkness in the story which has to be told to understand the characters, how people are defined. The final book introduces some new characters and continues with some previous characters building on their relationship.

As much as I wanted to get to the end I didn’t want to finish but I also was caught up in the intrigue. I love that Skye’s female characters are strong and loving. From the book “The women. They’re stronger than us that way. They make their own happiness.”

I purchased this book and am leaving my review voluntarily.

    Triggers: age gap, violence

    **spoilers**
This is the conclusion to a 3 part story of Samantha and Liam. I liked both the H and h, something that doesn't happen often.

Back story: Samantha, child violin prodigy - daughter of a traitor and whose mom left her. Liam, abused as a child now a security expert with his brothers. Sent by the government to kill her father, Samantha gets caught up as a young child. Liam feels guilty, and takes her into his home acting as her guardian. Fast forward to Samantha growing up, turning 18. She's in love with Liam, he is her whole world. He feels the same about her except he doesn't think he deserves her.

Secrets come out, tragedies happen but eventually they come together.

I usually don't care for trilogy's, and this story could've been compressed into 2 books but overall I am happy with the writing from this author. She made the other characters likeable and as there are several connected books, I will be reading those as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars When the guardian and his ward have to fight for their future...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 16, 2020
As far as conclusions go, well, Skye Warren hasn't missed a single trick here! Familial love, friend love, and the love of the person more important to you than breathing...all of it interwoven into the most magnificent story that I'd never realized I needed but am so very glad I have read! As the third book in the North Security Trilogy, well, I had very high expectations, and let me tell you, they were met with great aplomb!
Samantha and Liam are on a rollercoaster whether they want to be or not, things from their pasts setting in motion the actions they have to undertake now. Familiar faces returning and the introduction of new ones amongst the supporting characters fleshed out the story brilliantly, and had me on the proverbial edge of my seat as I turned pages with bated breath, hungry for more of the story, needing to know more. And my heart is filled, even as it skipped beats, watching Liam and Samantha work through their story.
Samantha is pretty incredible, so young and naïve, yet also worldly and wise. Liam, the epitome of the strong and silent type, and how he bends, but only for her. I am such a sucker for grumpy and sunshine combinations! And, you need to read these too, so that you can agree with me. So, what are you waiting for?

4.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming conclusion to an intense series!

"Love is a hard word. It's a weakness. I protect you. That's all that matters."

Sonata was such a heartwarming conclusion to the North Security Series. I loved all the interactions between Samantha and Liam and the fact that she blossomed into such a strong young woman, who could render a man like Liam to his knees. The connection between them grew so much stronger and the intensity of their feelings was overwhelming. I also have to say that I adore Josh and Bethany. They had such sizzling chemistry, and their synergy and banter left me all hot and bothered.

The action of the book had a good pace, building up the suspense until the last chapter. I only wished I could have learned more about Samantha's father. By the end, it felt like there could still be unfinished business regarding him. The last chapter was really raw and emotional and I was so thrilled that Samantha and Liam got their HEA. I hope we get to see more of them as a couple in the future.

Yet another enthralling intense series from Skye Warren.

Interesting ending to Samantha and Liam's story. The epilogue was a nice touch at the end. You may not get all the answers in this last book but you get enough to be satisfied with Samantha and Liam finally getting there HEA.
