A Veiled & Hallowed Eve (Soulbound Book 7) Kindle Edition
SOA Special Agent Patrick Collins has lived a life full of lies, and it has finally caught up with him. There’s no denying his past any longer, not after giving up the truth to save himself from a murder charge. But truth alone can’t set Patrick free, and time is running out to stop the Dominion Sect from turning his father into a god.
Jonothon de Vere knows survival isn’t a guarantee, but he’s desperate to keep Patrick safe, even as hope slips through his fingers. With the future unknown, Jono will follow Patrick wherever he goes, even to Salem, where a family reunion reveals a bitter secret that was never going to stay buried.
With New York City under control of their god pack, Patrick and Jono must fall back on every alliance they’ve brokered to fill the front lines of a war coming directly to the city streets. The veil is always thinnest on Samhain, and what awaits them on the other side is the stuff of nightmares. For when it tears, all hell will break loose, and the gods will be summoned to face a reckoning the world isn’t ready for.
The stakes have never been higher, failure has never been so deadly, and the Fates have never been kind to heroes. Patrick knows that better than anyone—because everything has a price, every debt always comes due, and it’s finally time for Patrick to pay his.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2021A Veiled & Hallowed Eve is the final book in the Soulbound series by Hailey Turner. I devoured all 7 books in such a short period of time and I am still having a book hangover. It was such a wonderful, action-filled journey and I will really miss this series. I was sad to see it end.
This book indeed was the culmination of the plot laid out in the previous books tying up all the major loose ends but still has enough wriggle room should the author wishes to revisit this world. We've seen all the pain, joys and troubles that Patrick, Jono and the rest of their pack go through right until this very moment. Here all the stakes are laid out and visible for the world to see, the tension amped to a hundred and the losses and carnage from the fight to save the world, prevent someone from achieving their goal and paying Patrick's debt to the gods described in wonderful detail and takes the reader along for a rollercoaster ride of emotions and action-packed sequences.
The gods take as much part into this as the other characters. The lines are drawn and those fighting all have a huge stake into getting a victory for their side. If the previous books hadn't already highlighted how selfish majority of the gods are, then this book draw more attention to the casualness and their selfishness - showing how they are without care in pulling strings and manipulating people like chess pieces just to ensure they survive, unironically making them the same as the lowly people they look down upon.
The series has emphasized found family so much - something that Patrick and Jono's relationship is built upon. You may share they same blood as someone but it does not mean they would mean family in the long run. Patrick and Jono's relationship started with attraction but slowly grew stronger from the trust they have for each other. Their love was tested almost beyond endurance and yet that love held strong and steadfast. Soulbound is also about choices and sacrifice. Patrick had very little choices when it comes to the grand scheme of things involving the immortals and the gods and the debt he has to pay, but all the sacrifices he made and the choices in how to go about it was all his. His willingness to put himself in danger so that those he love will not do so is very much his choice and can never be taken away from him.
A Veiled and Hallowed Eve is a wonderful swan song to a brilliant series. It pulls the thread carefully weaved from the start in A Ferry of Bones & Gold and wonderfully wrapped it up in a story that is filled with breathtaking action, painful and emotional scenes, tension-filled face offs and a happily ever after for all the great characters.
Soulbound has become one of my favorite series out there and I am giving A Veiled & Hallowed Eve 5 stars out of 5.
I received an ARC of this book via GRR and I have chosen to publish my fair and honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2021A Veiled & Hallowed Eve by Hailey Turner is the seventh and final book in the Soulbound series. Patrick Collins’ truth is out there for the world to know after falsely being accused of murder and his secrets being the only thing that kept him free. This freedom doesn’t come without consequences as Patrick and Jono prepare for the worst. As Samhain grows nearer and the threat of Ethan Greene and the Dominion Sect becomes a reality, Patrick and Jono’s New York City godpack, their allies, immortals and so many more prepare to face hell on earth.
Patrick Collins has been fighting so long he can’t imagine his life without his soul being pulled between his debt to Persephone and his soulbond with Jono. He finds himself struggling with the guilt he feels towards everyone and everything that’s happened since that fateful night so many years ago and more recent events, even though so much of his life is outside of his control. His pull towards Jono is constantly strengthening even when the worst kind of decisions have to be made. That’s where I’ll leave this to keep the review spoiler free.
Jono de Vere understands that he was a weapon given by the gods to Patrick to try and stop hell from crossing the veil and starting anew on earth. This never stopped Jono from loving Patrick and finding home and a pack with a man he never expected. With the responsibility of all the packs under them in NYC, Jono is forced to balance the pain and guilt Patrick experiences with the importance of saving the world as they know it. Jono’s continued strength and belief in Patrick helps pull them through even the toughest times (again sorry about the vagueness but honestly you just need to read it).
This is a series that had me hooked from book one. Over seven books you not only fall in love with Patrick and Jono but the group of secondary characters such as Wade, Sage, Marek, Leon, Emma, Nadine, Spencer and even Lucien. This book takes on the challenge of finding ways to bring all the different pieces and mythologies built over all the books together. The balance of having the intense action scenes with the important character development and world building keeps you on the edge of your seat all 500 pages through. I will not share more than that because as a reader it was so great to just enjoy the story coming to an end with no spoilers.
5 stars for the epic ending that brings hell to earth and leaves Patrick and Jono to save it and each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars great ending
5 stars
What a great end to the series. I don’t really know what to say about it as I don’t want to give anything away.
It was a constant skirmish as each side tried to get the upper hand and each victory was hard fought by both the civilians and the gods involved. This author writes a good fight scene, so it was a well crafted book. I tried to slow down the read and savour it but the fast pace of the book and my constant needing to know where we were going next changed that.
I felt for Patrick at the start as his world imploded. His grief was tangible. I’ve seen the gods be really self -absorbed throughout this series, but I felt that Zeus and Hera were quite cold and callous in how they treated him here. He knew what he had to do, that was not the time to be reminding him of his duty.
I enjoyed seeing throughout the series which sides the gods I knew turned up on. Some to me were easy picks, but a couple were different, but when thought about made sense. A few I knew nothing about like Baba Yaga and once I read up about her understood why she was on that side. I enjoyed learning about different pantheons throughout the series.
I really liked how it was resolved at the end, it actually made sense to me. I did expect a greater death toll on the group and was preparing myself for some sad goodbyes. I did want some more information at the end. What happened to Nadine and Spencer after, General Reed and the Hellraisers etc. We know about the pack but I also cared about the supporting characters too.
Can’t wait to either do a reread or listen to this one on audio and pick up things that I missed in this read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing
It is like I was transferred to a world where Gods walk the earth, demon live beyond a veil just a touch away, Fae come and go as they please and where magic lives like a living thing. I could almost imagine myself in that world. I pictured the world and everything happening in it through the eyes of each and every character in the story not just the main protagonists. And it was an amazing journey. Wonderfully done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bitter Sweet Farewell
All Hail-ey!!! This series has been nothing short of incredible. I cannot begin to tell how much I have loved these books. From the different gods and goddesses to the villains and demons, the description of magic and the way it works, to the plot and pacing, the story arc and the love between Jono and Pat - this series is truly a work of art.
“When you stab someone, pulling out the knife doesn’t fix the wound left behind.” The response - “Then make sure the wound is deep enough to kill.” This quote is so succinct and on point in describing this series of books!
Unlike so many in the MM paranormal genre, this series isn't focused on the love of the main characters but rather by the plots and action around them. Their love has been a slow burn in a unique way. Pat's journey to being loved and loving Jono has been a steady and wonderful thing, so believable and touching. Both of their issues were not glazed over by insta-love but rather explored and explained all while their hectic action driven lives didn't pause for them to breathe.
I am sorry that this is the last in the series....Pretty Please could you do a spin off on Wade's character. I LOVE that food guzzling, attitude driven, clueless, adorable, heartbreaking, terrifyingly powerful teen dragon. He has a story I would kill to read. I can imagine a prequel explaining his trafficked days to further stories of where he goes after the end of the last Soulbound Book!!!
So very highly recommend this series!!!! Thank you Hailey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top eind van deze serie
Deze recensie is in het Engels omdat ik het boek las in het Engels.
I love this series and I had double feelings about this book, because it is the last one in this series, because I didn't want it to end. Luckily there will be books in the soulbound universe to read and I am sure I will be rereading this series too.
This book is the perfect ending to the series, the love between Pat and Jono and their pack with Wade and Saga is coming of the pages many times. Next there are more people fighting their fight with them against Ethan. But will it be enough? And will the Gods help them out, because that is needed to win the war and not turn the world into hell on earth. It is good to see some familiar ones pop up from the former books.
Patrick's family from his mother know now that he is still alive and he is meeting them in this book and he is in for a surprise he didn't see coming.
Of course Ethan is his evil self in this book and is bringing the fight to New York the hometown of the pack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing end to series
I am sad that this is the end to this incredible series but WOW. Amazing. Reading this book felt like a journey with all of the characters and situations from the whole series coming to a crescendo and then back to real life again. Despite its many characters and situations I never had trouble following this story which I have not been able to do with many other much less epic stories. This may seem like a weird thing to compliment a writer on but for me that is a sign that the writer has been able to keep all these ideas solidly in their head and then put them down on paper well enough that their audience can get a thorough glimpse of the world they have created. Throughout all of these books I have marveled at Hailey Turner’s ability to write both epic battles and touching love scenes. This is an incredible end to an amazing series. I am in awe. Ten stars.
