Bark Side of the Moon: A Paranormal Animal Cozy Mystery (Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 496 ratings

The Pointy Woman gave him a voice. Now she wants to shut him up. Permanently.

Would-be investigative journalist, Clarissa Page, and her sammich-obsessed spellbound hound, Toby, are making little headway in their hunt for the nasty witch, Miranda Dervish. And they’re having no luck finding the magickal Four Stone either.

No matter which way they turn, who they ask, or where they search, they’re thwarted.

Down to their last few pence, an anonymous tip off and a chance encounter with a stranger in the park sets them on their way to a dramatic final showdown. On the way, they’ll have to work out just who is friend… and who is foe.

Bark Side of the Moon is Book 3 of 3 of the Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Series. From the bestselling author of the Wonky Inn books, you’ll find this cozy animal mystery is chock full of the quirky characters you’ve come to love. Cute pups, cunning witches, wily wizards, chaos and squizzels abound in this heartwarming ‘tail’ of love and loyalty.

Genre-hopping introvert and word witch living somewhere between the forest and the sea in East Devon, UK.

Jeannie finds inspiration everywhere: myths, stories and songs, people watching, a word here, a look there, but mainly in the landscape. Devon has it all - rocky coast, pebble and sandy beaches, winding lanes and picture perfect cottages, cliffs and forest.

A good day for Jeannie means a blustery wind, racing waves and salty rain. She lives with her husband and two dogs, make a lot of soup, plays too many computer games and loves watching movies.

I'm enjoying these books! I'd love a spellbound hound all my own - Toby is adorable! I'd be tempted to spoil him with ham sammiches on a regular basis! It's awesome to see him gobbling up new magical skills in leaps & bounds (or should that be hounds?!) And Clarissa is coming into her skills nicely, as well! Old Joe was longsighted & had plans in place to battle The Pointy Woman; I don't think we've heard the last of her! And I love the idea of an army of squirrels! This book was filled with plot twists & surprises, and was thoroughly enjoyable!

Love every bit. Old Joe, Toby, Mrs. Crouch, Mabel, Clarissa, Dom, Grappletwigs, are just some of the characters. Layer after layer of joyous revelations give this reader immense pleasure. Got to the place today when I couldn't put it down. Lots to do, lots to read, but so what? I'm retired and can spend my time immersed in great reading. Plan to start Master of Puppies in a few minutes, but have a book due at the library so probably will out Puppies down and finish Before the Coffee Gets Cold. Highly recommend Jeannie Wycherley and her wonderful books.

I love Toby. Period. How fun it is to have some hoomans be able to hear and understand him because hoomans are slow on the uptake normally.
This is the cozy versions of the Chet and Bernie books :) Love me our Chet too!

My first in the series, and am now reading the next in line.

I love this series and the author's imagination knows no limits. Please be sure to read the books in order so you don't miss anything. These books have so much sadness, joy, love, and pain, it is a testament to the author's skill.

These books just keep getting better and better. I love the bond that Clarissa and Toby have. I love how their friends will step up in the time of need. I can't wait to see if Clarissa and Toby find the pointy Woman or what happened to her. On to the next book.
  • Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2023
Clarissa and our favorite Spellbound Hound are at it again, trying to figure out what to do to get the last of the stones, who has it, where is it, and what to do -- all while Toby is reading the beginning magic book lent to him by Dom the chaos wizard. As he practices his skills there are lots of "oops" along the way, including angering bees and having to hide from them, which puts him in a position to see The Pointy Woman and follow her. Inevitably, it is those skills he was honing that end up being the hardest thing he had to do to keep Miranda Dervish getting access to the power she desires. The question is, where will Clarissa and Toby's journeys take us as they continue to try to find their nemesis and make new friends along the way.

I loved the 3 books I read, in fact I binge read books two and three after staying awake to read the first one. The characters are wonderfully alive and it is so easy to be drawn into the story. I will never look at a “sammich “ the same way again. I really enjoyed these books and hope that there will be more.
    Very highly recommended.

I can’t believe that I have just read a book about a talking dog. Not my usual thing at all. But read it I did and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Our heroine is likeable, while not being perfect, and Toby is great. I read all three quickly, one after the other and look forward to the next. Fun escapism.
