Chief of the Blackgorge (Spellheart Book 5) Kindle Edition
A man must repay his debts.
Especially when he owes those debts to the princess of the realm. Luckily, she only asks that Theo stay in the palace as her guest. That should be an easy debt to pay, but trouble is afoot in the land and no number of royal dinners or palace balls will stop it.
In the city itself, Countess Frostweaver has made a new associate with the face of an old friend. To the east and west, the Cult of the Unblinking Eye is plotting against Deania with its neighbors. To the south, the orcs are making moves that suggest they’re finished with the long-held peace treaty signed generations ago. Things aren’t good in Deania, and the princess will need all the help she can get.
As one of the few people she trusts, Theo must leave the capital to resolve the growing tension with the orcs to the south. But fate has other plans in store for him when his diplomatic mission takes him to the orc homeworld to meet the Blackgorge Tribe.
The Ten Thousand Worlds is a bigger place than Theo could have ever imagined. He must strengthen his clan and himself if he is to prepare for these new challenges. Before, the princess saved the Hearthwood Clan. Now, it’s Theo’s turn to repay the favor.
Contains: Gamelit, cultivation, and unconventional relationships.

I am Theo, and I never could have imagined the journey I was about to embark on when I accepted the keys to The Wanderer. I was transported to the Ten Thousand Worlds, a realm filled with endless dangers and adventures.
In this strange new world, I am faced with powerful monsters and armies of elven cultivators who seek to harness the power my human body holds. But I will not be a captive or pawn. I refuse to play by their rules. Instead, I set out to create my own clan of powerful elves and gather a cast of companions to stand by my side.
With my wit, cunning, magic RPG-System powered spaceship, and newfound cultivation magic, I take on the odds stacked against me and rise to become a force to be reckoned with. I will not be underestimated. My name will be known throughout the Ten Thousand Worlds and my family will grow strong enough to rule the stars above us.
Join me on this epic journey of action, fighting, and romance. Together, we will conquer the Ten Thousand Worlds and uncover the truth behind my arrival in this strange new world. It's going to be a wild ride, but I'm up for the challenge. Are you?

About the author

Marvin Knight first got hooked on the harem genre when he picked up Spellscribed: Provenance, written by Kristopher Cruz back in 2013. Not long after, John Van Stry published Champion for Hire, and another favorite went up on his bookshelf. Marvin started writing a novel of his own back then.
After nearly thirty failed attempts and five years of work, Marvin finally manged to write the words, 'The End'.
Another completed book followed shortly after that, and at this point, he doesn't think he could stop if he wanted to. If you like LitRPG, Cultivation, Gamelit, Harem, Progression Fantasy, Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Action, and Adventure, then you and Marvin are kindred souls! Check out his books today!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021I've always been quite fond of xianxia and xuanhuan series, and the recent (in the past 2-3 years) rise of western interpretations of these themes has been a treat. The "Spellheart" series has become one of my favorites because of the way it utilizes cultivation while parodying its tropes. What's more, Marvin's writing has become progressively more refined, and the books are both better edited and more interesting. One of my gripes with some series is that they're far too short to cover more than one or two events, which barely moves the plot or character development along. However, Spellheart (and especially the latter books) substantially move the plot forward while further characterizing the various characters in the Hearthwood (and the paracosm more broadly). Although there are many female characters, they all occupy specific niches: they're not trophies of Theo's virility so much as evidence of his ability to forge meaningful relationships with others. What's more, their manner of speaking differentiates them, which is something that many writers struggle to accomplish.
I also appreciated the blend of technology with cultivation magic. Whereas some western interpretations seem to imagine that cultivators are ignorant and blindingly stupid, Marvin makes a solid effort to show that technological progress is a socio-cultural process. What's more, you have varying levels of technology depending on the sphere and (sapient) species, which is a cool way of further distinguishing between cultures.
I loved the book, and I look forward to the sequels.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2021This was a well written book that was hard to put down. Marvin does a good job of broadening ths scope of his work but keeping it manageable in how you take it all in. Our mc is hetting stronger and more confident by the day. No longer eaking out wins through luck. But proving that he is both tactically smart and physically a contender.
The sex is back. There was a fair amoubt in this story that added the right flavor to the story without holding it down. We explore differebt cultural approaches to sex and see different sides of some of the women. I appreciate the possessiveness and keeping it all entertaining.
Can't wait for the next book. This one just came out and i feel satisfied with it, Overall. He has left enough anticipation that this book feels complete, yet enough questions to keep me coming back for more. Simply Well Done.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2021I'm not very good with words so I'll be short and blunt the story is quite good enough that I could see it becoming an anime or TV show once the typical OELN typos and errors are Ironed out although I do find myself getting exhausted with the number of sex scenes when reading 5 volumes in a row and if I could I would give the first 5 books a rating of 4.8 for very good but not Amazing but Amazon limits its rating system to a stupidly harsh degree
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2021Another fantastic book in the series, I blew through all 5 so far and now need to wait, but I know it will be worth it so I’m almost ok with that. Now that I don’t have to rush off to get another book, I will say, if you’ve been sleeping on this series like I was, don’t!! It is way beyond expectations, really well written, with a recipe that comes out perfect every time. I could not get enough and I absolutely plan on rereading this in the future at some point. Can’t wait for more Amirisa, Korra, and the Matriarchs of Hearthwood, just keeps getting better!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021This chapter of the story has cost me several hours of sleep, but was well worth it!
I can hardly wait for the next book to come out! Theo is rapidly gaining on his friends Dean and Sam as he gets closer to becoming a demigod.
Do yourself a favor and pick up the whole series if you haven't already its a trip on a rocket powered rollercoaster.

5.0 out of 5 stars I never knew orcs could be so much fun!
Having spent 4 books getting to know, and falling in love with, the Elves of Deania and the world they live on, Theo and I went on a fantastic journey to the world of the orcs.
I am not sure a visit would count as a relaxing vacation, but I would certainly not mind going there to check the place out!

5.0 out of 5 stars The world is getting bigger
The series is going great and Theo is getting stronger. Though admittedly it is getting hard to keep track of every character.
