Scott Meyers is trying to start his life over on New Years. His girlfriend of 6 years walked out on him.. left the house empty..
Now in the middle of a snowstorm he finds her.. and all the feelings come back.. I don't think they left.
Starting over is a quick read about second chances.
Scott is a lawyer who represents the scumbags and Liz doesn't like it.
As things are starting to come together ..can they still stay together?
Really liked this short and will keep an eye out for other books by Marissa!

Spolier***************************
The H and h had been dating for 6 years and then got engaged. The H was an upcoming lawyer and his clientele inadvertently included members of the Mafia. He tried to protect the h by not telling her about work. As a result, she felt shut out of his life. She took off and ran out of his life. He never understood why she broke their engagement. Fifteen years later, they meet up again because the h is now with the FBI and she knows that the H is high on the FBI's list because of his mobster connections. She risks her job to give him a heads up. They find that they still love each other after 15 years and want to make a go out of it.
I thought it was an ok story. It had a lot of promise. A big issue for me is that 15 years apart is way too long before a reunion. I think second chance romances should not have a separation gap of more than five years. Another issue is that both the H and h made little effort in locating the other in the 15 years they were apart, but yet both claim to have never stop loving each other. There was no indication of this love until the h thought the H was in trouble with the FBI.
I liked that the story included some flashbacks as to how they met and details of their first date. It was not a bad 30 minute read. I give it 2.5 stars.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2020True love doesn't always run smoothly...you knew that! But in this story it works well enough. I recommend it for a quick 30 minute commute ride.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2016The storyline is completely unbelievable. The characters haven't seen or had any contact with each other in over a decade and yet they still had no issues? Really? She walked out on him, no explanation and everything was chunky dory in just a few hours. I don't think so. And the cover gave th he ending away.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2016So after walking out 15 years ago they are still so hung up on each other, they will just fall in each other's arms. She could not accept his choice of career over her, and he would not listen to her so she just walked out. He never went after her even though she was the love of his life? Then she waltzes in jeopardizing her job to save him just as he had decided to cut mob ties after 15 years? This is contrived and unrealistic with little plot line. And a word used by both of them in the bed scene is "his shaft" Then, sigh, they end up together happy ever after in Paris.
The story showed promise in the beginning. Well-written descriptions set the scene, and the dog and man interaction is quite good. But what did she see in him? A man so focused on money he lets the girl he is going to propose to just go away. Why and how did young love change to the kind that lasts?

2.0 out of 5 stars Starting over
This short is very stereotyped and the romance seems forced. A man has been representing the mafia for years and has now decided to leave their employ. He doesn't seem to think this will cause him any problems whatsoever. As for the lady who appears back in his life, he never even wonders if she could be an FBI plant to find out how much evidence he could spill about the mafia. If they were the great love of each other's lives, how come one of them didn't follow the other even to try a job for a year?
The worst part for me is that nothing much actually happens. No conflict. The Eiffel Tower on the cover only appears on the last page; it's set in small town America. If you want a light romance that doesn't ask you to think too much, it's okay.
I availed of a free download. This is an unbiased review.
