Stay Home - A Year of Writing Through Lockdown Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 4 ratings

During the Covid 19 pandemic, people’s lives and routines changed in ways they never could have imagined. Whilst staying home through numerous lockdowns, we watched the world from our windows, home schooled our children, took joy in our pets and were forced to examine the reality of our homes, jobs, lives and relationships.

Stay Home - A Year of Writing Through Lockdown, is a collection of personal essays, short stories and poems from writers, bloggers, ordinary people and children sharing one common goal… writing about the affect of the pandemic on their lives.

The collection is divided into four parts:

Dreaming of Another World
Hello Home…
Pandemic Pets
Poems on ‘Hope’.

This collection was put together and published by Chasing Driftwood Writing Group, a community interest company providing creative writing opportunities to children and adults. This is the first of many to come.

Born and raised in the county town of Dorchester, Dorset, Sim began scribbling away stories on scraps of paper since before he can remember. He spent a lot of his childhood on adventures walking the dogs in the woodland surrounding Thomas Hardy's cottage with his family. Something about the cottage and 'the man what wrote stuff' who had lived there sparked a fire inside him, it was from there he began to focus on writing more seriously. In 2012, Sim signed up to Open University to study Creative Writing alongside working full time. He isn't quite sure how he made it out alive, but he graduated with honours and began using the skills he had acquired to edit and redraft old work.

This beautiful collection of poems and short stories written by a variety of people on their personal reflections on the pandemic cause us to reflect on our shared humanity and our dreams for the future. 4.0 out of 5 stars A Relatable And Hopeful Collection
Reviewed in Australia on October 30, 2021
Starting life as a series of blog posts, Stay Home takes those tales and creates a collection written by authors from all around the world. Even though the writers are from various places, the stories of life during the last two years are similar, as is the theme of hope running throughout the collection. Navigating through personal thoughts and experiences, fictional tales, and poems, each is a wish and a reminder of what we've survived, what we've lost, and what we hope to see change in the future.

A carefully compiled collection of short stories telling of peoples experiences and thoughts during the first lockdown of 2020. I can see publications such as this being referred back to in the coming years for a true recount of what life felt like as those crazy days unfolded
