This book was awesome! I am a big Nina Levine fan and have read all of the Storm MC series. This book is VERY different from that series, no bikers, no kidnapped women, no damsels in distress. This book shows the versatility of the author and is a sweet love story about Callie, a twenty-something author whose never published a book and Luke, the owner of a bar. They have been crushing on each other for over a year but neither have acted on it for various reasons.
I don't want to give anything away but let's just say the reason Luke won't act on his attraction is a big surprise. The rest of the book is about Luke and Callie falling in love and the myriad of obstacles they face, and they do face a boat load of barriers.
What I love about this book is Callie's quirky sense of humor, her clear love for all things Luke, her strong sense of integrity and her willingness to stand by her beliefs, even in the face of major costs to herself. I loved watching Luke drop all of his walls to let Callie in. There were times when I was pissed at Luke and Callie for mistakes they both made and occasionally I felt Callie was too good to be true.
But ultimately, I loved the book for its great secondary characters, (Avery and Tyler really need their own book), for the way it shows that relationships are really complicated, that there are always multiple perspectives to every story, and that truth and love can prevail. Most of all, what I love about this story is how the author really gets that it's the little things that make you realize you're falling in love, these are some of the most precious moments in the book. Ultimately it's the little things that help sustain our relationships as well.

Where do I start? I don’t know where to start because it’s complicated. There is so much to tell you, but I can’t tell you, because I want you to read this amazing book and experience all it has to offer.I laughed, I cried, I actually had an ache in my chest while reading. The emotions that you go through with this read are crazy good. You get so engrossed in the book it’s like you’re watching a movie. There were a few times I was interrupted and wished I had a sign to put up so I could just point at it instead of replying!There is passion filled moments that are off the charts! Luke is a dirty talker and let me tell you he is good! Luke is everything you want in an alpha; bossy, broody, passionate, possessive, and a sexy smoldering voice that growls when he speaks to you. He loves his family and wants nothing more than to provide a stable loving home for his son Sean. The cast of characters in Luke’s family are a very interesting lot and the story that goes along with it will tug at your heart strings.Callie is an amazingly strong heroine with a strong moral character, and her beliefs in right and wrong, and in truth and justice. She grew up the youngest child. Callie couldn’t live up to the standards set by her parents, because they doted on her older sister and her parents reminded her often of her shortcomings. Callie didn’t let that set her back, she trudged forward and kept on going even though she wished the situation was different; and that her parents loved her the way they loved and doted on her sister. Callie is a kindhearted soul and she would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She gave as good as she would get from Luke and the banter between them was hilarious at times.This book had some angst to it. I really felt my stomach twisting in knots as the story unfolded. I went through a whole gamut of emotions for Luke, Callie and the other characters involved. There is quite the back story that comes out that you don’t see coming.Steal My Breath is such a fitting name for this book. What Luke and Callie felt for each other was such a deep and passionate love and the reader felt it. This book is one of my favorites for 2016 and I am sure one that I will turn to as a favorite re-read.ARC kindly provided by Give Me Books for an honest review.
