Blurb

The first time Bailey Walker met Cooper Christie, he tripped her up; the second time, he stole her bra and broke her cell; and the third time, he drove away, leaving her alone at the curb. In short, he was an ass!

The problem was that he was the hottest guy Bailey ever seen, and as much as she loathed everything about him, she couldn’t help but be attracted to him.

When her mom asked her to go dress shopping, little did she know how much her life was going to change! Not only had her mom been dating Cooper’s father in secret, she was now engaged to him and the wedding date was set.

As her new step-brother, Cooper was now completely out-of-bounds. But when does love ever follow the rules?

Hard and intriguing read
This is a new author to me and it is a challenge to review this book because there are parts that are on point with the issues discussed but other parts are overkill/repetitive which made it trying to get through. I will also caution those with triggers as there are different forms of abuse that take place. Bailey has not had an easy life. Her father left her mother, started a new family and wanted nothing to do with her. She lost her brother who was really the only person who cared for her. Her mother is a thoughtless, vapid woman who makes matters worse when she finds a wealthy man to remarry with two sons. The sons are not happy that their father is remarrying and they torture Bailey. After the wedding, Bailey’s new family becomes more dysfunctional then ever. Making matters worse, she develops an attraction to her stepbrother, Cooper. Cooper professes his love to Bailey but all he does is pull her in to push her away and hurt her. The back and forth between them is a little much. He does some harsh things to Bailey that make her feel lower than the dirt under a sneaker. It really begs the question of how much is Bailey going to take before she says ENOUGH. Some might say they are young and make excuses but there is no excuse for the atrocious behavior by Bailey’s mother, stepfather and stepbrothers. This book will take the reader on an emotional journey and be prepared for the anger that you will feel towards some of these characters and the situations that Bailey finds herself in which are out of her control. It does end in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what will come of Bailey. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.

Excellent book, I enjoyed the story line as well as how the characters felt in the story, their pain, joy and lie

This is hard to rate because I was entertained and actually want to read the next book; cliffhanger ending for this book, but this book is so frustrating! The characters are so moronic and pathetic; I couldn’t stand how much they lack any common sense or self-worth. There are so many despicable people in this story! The writing also didn’t quite flow; too much telling going on. I did enjoy the passion between Bailey and Cooper; their feelings do come through, but oh boy! Cooper torments Bailey too much.

Bailey’s mom marries some rich guy with 2 sons. The 2 boys aren’t happy about it, so they torture Bailey; emotionally and physically. Bailey barely makes a peep about it; she just cowers and lets it continue. Her lack of a backbone probably has to do with her horrible parents; a father who told her he doesn’t want her around his new family, and a mother who doesn’t want to lose her cushy new life. Plus, the boys don’t have the best example in their less than stellar father. While Cooper is abusing Bailey, Cooper realizes he is falling for Bailey, but hates it, so he acts like a douche. This may get have some spoilers, so beware!

He flaunts his sexual acts with other girls in front of Bailey; not just a couple times either, and Bailey keeps allowing him to do this and taking him back. Back and forth they go. It was so pathetic to me; how many times Bailey allows Cooper to treat her so poorly and that she cheats with him multiple times, and is surprised when he cheats on her. Cooper is with some other girl and Bailey knows it, but 2 seconds later lets him get with her anyway; while the girl is right outside the door! What in the heck is wrong with you?! Cooper is a mess of a human; his actions were disgusting, his excuses aren’t good enough for how much of an idiot he is. It’s really ridiculous how much Bailey put up with. I will say the emotion between Bailey and Cooper does come through; you can feel the connection, but come on! Where’s your self-worth?

There’s time jumps in this story; which aren’t my favorite: Bailey and Cooper meet when 15. The jumps start out short with weeks and months, but then years. When the story ends, they are graduated from college, but they are still immature. So, yeah, with the cliffhanger in this book I do want to read the next book because despite the absolute idiocy of the characters, the story is still interesting. Hopefully, Cooper and Bailey mature and start using their brains more. I want some major groveling in the next book!!

Have read a number of taboo books / enemy's to lovers books before and so I kind of knew what I was going in for. I have to say this was on a whole other level.

When I first started the book my heart went out to Bailey from the first couple of pages onward. Seriously this poor kid was so hard done by through out this book it was staggering even to the point of out right cruelty even abuse.

The more I ready the more I struggled. Really struggled. I kept waiting for something good to happen but those bits were very few and far between. I hate not finishing a book but I was close a few times to just saying enough is enough. Eventually I needed a break from this book and started reading another one just for some respite.

I could keep writing but I wont. Seriously, I wanted to like this book but I just couldn't and then to see it end on a cliff hanger.... Sorry, but I wont be reading anymore.

I really enjoyed this story. Bailey and Cooper’s love and hate relationship gripped me from the first page and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what would happen next. Bailey went through so much heartbreak, from her father not wanting anything to do with her, and the loss of her brother. I liked Cooper okay, I just wanted to see more from him, I wanted him to become a man and fight for what he wanted. This book ends in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Stepbrother (Step Dilemma Series Book 1)
    By Stacy McWilliams
    5 out of 5 stars

The story Stepbrother (Step Dilemma Series Book 1) by Stacy McWilliams is a book that had me hooked. It pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The story is one of love and hate, passion and desire, disappointment, and romance. The characters of Bailey and Cooper are both interesting and at times hard to understand the reasons for their actions. Bailey is a character that I had a lot of empathy for. Her life has been turned upside down and things never seem to quite work out for her. She is intelligent and strong. She also is kind and thoughtful to those she cares about. Cooper is a character that I never was sure of what his motives were or if he had a method to his madness. While there are moments that I had empathy for him there are others that I didn’t know what to think and was left with my mouth open at the things he did. What does the future hold for Bailey and Cooper? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. There are additional characters that interact with Bailey and Cooper. Some of them I had a hard time liking while others grew to care about just like I did Bailey. This is a book that includes forbidden feelings and there are heartbreaking moments as well. The author does a wonderful job of making the characters and story come alive. I would recommend reading it.

Bailey meets cooper for the first time and she is in love, cooper was a total s.o.b , but not only that he is her stepbrother. And the trouble arouse when forbidden love is at stake. This was a enjoyable read and I highly recommend it

Stacy McWilliams is a new author to me and this is the first book of hers I've read. However, I can tell you right now that she's become one of my firm favourites after reading this emotional and heart wrenching story. I spent weeks excitedly waiting for release day and downloaded it as soon as I could. I had things I should've been doing today, but they were soon pushed aside once I picked up this 5 star read and finished it in the same day.

Stepbrother hits you hard from the start and doesn't let go all the way through. By chapter 4 I was ready to cry as I saw what Bailey had to go through after already dealing with so much heartbreak. I was introduced to characters I hated and others I hoped would make her life better; some I kept changing my mind about as the story progressed. The jury is still out about Cooper though!

Stacy McWilliams clearly has talent and doesn't hold back when showing you the reality of choices and decisions made by the people around you. This story definitely isn't all sunshine and roses, and happily ever after doesn't arrive yet as Stepbrother ends on a cliffhanger that had me jumping online to see if I could find when book 2 will be released - it's in August of this year by the way lol.

Stepbrother isn't an easy story to read, but if you want a story that hits you right in the feels and has you sitting there stunned when you get to the end, then this is the story for you. Roll on 30 August when I can get my hands on the second book because I need more of Bailey and Cooper. The two teaser chapters of Stepsister at the end have left me hanging and I need to know what happens. It's going to be a long few weeks!

I was immediately drawn to this book due to the premise of stepbrother/sister love.

It is a great book in the end, but initially the writing at the start was a bit disjointed and there are two parts that made me wonder if I have flipped back a few pages, but not they were repeated.

However it is worth persevering as the author really improves the flow and the writing in the second half of the book. I ended up enjoying it so much I have preordered for the second - yes, this finishes on a cliffhanger.

So I bought this book yesterday afternoon as I saw the second in the series advertised, and when I picked it up, I didn’t put it down until the after midnight when I finished it. I loved it so much that I bought the second in the series straight away.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster and I cried my heart out at how bailey was treated by her parents, especially how cold her mother was and how her father could abandon her. I think I cried non stop, so when she meets her new family the tears kept flowing.

I liked bailey, and her bravery and loyalty made me want to be friends with her, and help her and support her through all her emotional turmoil.

Cooper, well cooper is hot, and complicated and needed his head banged on a brick wall throughout the book.. he has some deep emotional issues, and I hope to find out more about them in the next book.

It has been a while since I've read a book that I wanted to throw it off a wall. This book stirred up so many emotions that I didn't know was possible. The bullying between cooper and Bailey, Bailey and the parents, Bailey and the real dad, had me so angry and frustrated. I wanted her to grow a back bone and speak up for herself. She let them all treat her like a doormat. The only character I did like in the end was Zane. It's going to be one of those books you'll either love or hate.
