4.6 out of 5 stars 1,230 ratings

THE END WAS JUST THE BEGINNING...

I thought I was strong enough to say goodbye.
I thought I was ready to leave him.
It doesn't matter that I'll be seeing him in three days.
I just have to get through three more nights.
I'm dying now. Shattering. Breaking.
I'm determined to show him I can manage on my own.
What if he needs me?
I need him...
What if he doesn't?
...but I want to be better for him.
What if this time
I need him?
I want to be strong without him.

Jessie Walker is an indie author of queer love stories based out of Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her long-time partner and fur-spawn. Drawn to all things dark and twisted, she likes to pretend she's not the hopeless romantic at heart that she is. She has ADHD and a background in psychology/mental health services, both of which contribute greatly to her storytelling and the themes of her long-winded, character-driven works. When she's not drudging away at a keyboard, there's a very good chance you'll find her vegged out on her couch, listening to sad '90s grunge, and day dreamin’ about the all the stories crowding her brain.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW PERFECT THESE BOYS ARE?! MY HEARTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Will and Way must be protected at all costs. At this point I'm as invested in their relationship as much as I am my own marriage. This little novella packed a punch and my heart was not ready to cry like this!! Their love is so damn beautiful, you guys. Oh, let me not forget to mention the heat that this novella blessed us with. Lawd. Praise you, Jessie. I hope we have more novellas for these two in the future. I swear Jessie could write a short story about these two grocery shopping and I'd give it 5 stars.

I'm still on the high from Will and Way, and even though I read 2 books after their duet, I wasn't ready to say goodbye. Still Beating was the perfect novella to give me just a little more of the boys.
Picking up exactly where If There's A Way left off, and we see how Will and Way are recovering and moving on from the end of the second book. While short, it still intimately and delicately handled traumas and MH, nonlinear healing, and family. I love these two and their relationship so much. I could read dozens of books about them and it would never be enough. If you haven't read these, do yourself a favor and add them to your TBR.

I needed this glimpse into Will and Waylon’s future more than I even knew. What a freaking journey these two guys and all of these characters had in these books!

Still Beating by Jessie Walker is a novella detailing start of The Lost Boys careers as rockstars - making their first album. It pulls Will & Way apart forcing them into a long distance relationship that tries their fragile psyches. It's another beautiful story showcasing the deep enduring love they have for one another. And of course, the sizzling steam!

Please just get the books! You won't be disappointed! I get that I found my new trope, but between Jessie Walker and CE Ricci, I am in love with it all..... Will & Way are causing serious world hangovers for me, cannot recommend these books enough and SSOOO looking forward to the next lost boys stories!! The thing that stuck out most about Jessie as a writer was the ability to bring everyone in. Usually it's the main two characters issues with a fleeting conversation with those around them but not in this series. It's all brought together to get everyone's perspective and talking things out like we all wish we could do in our real lives, past or present. I was enamored by these lost boys, heartbreak and all.💜

This was a perfect way to show, how our traumatized boys are still working through some hard stuff. They are happy together. They are moving on with their lives. But their demons can still come out and hurt them which, felt so real and authentic.

This Novela was great. I like the fact that you have Will going to California when Way calls. Because he was having a bad night I needed him there. They have great communication now that they understand how much they love each other and trust one another fully. The fact that Will wants to work as a social worker is amazing and then I like that Way is supportive of his dreams. I can’t wait to read more about these two.

Great little glimpse back into Will and Waylon’s lives. Perfectly written update on their lives right from where their books left off. It would be amazing if the author could keep giving us these novellas .. ha!

Will and Way remain *the* best couple and I'm so, so, sooooo glad we get a look into how they function as a long-distance couple. In this novella, Waylon, Mason and Shawn are in LA recording their album. Will is holding down the bar in Shiloh, counting down the hours until he has Way in his arms again. Three more days isn't that long, right? But when something- someone - breaks, three days seems like eternity.

Sweet, emotional, steamy, funny and really touching - this novella packs a heck of a punch for such a short book. I loved every page and am so grateful that we didn't have to wait any longer to check with the Lost Boys.
