Stone of Power: M/M Romantic Fantasy (Farbonnur Elves Book 1) Kindle Edition
When Eldrich, the king's physician, stumbles onto his predecessor's doorstep in a pool of his own blood, he's grateful for the patch job. He doesn't appreciate being robbed. He needs the stolen artifact to prevent regicide, and his professional rival-turned-criminal stands in his way.
Everyone labels Julian a former king's physician. That's ridiculous. Physicians know magic, while Julian knows magic doesn't exist. Eldrich is a gorgeous distraction, though. When Julian detains him under suspicion of poisoning the king, it's only natural they monitor the king's recovery and acquaint themselves with one cot to spare.
Only elves can defeat the blood mage stealing their power. Julian's elven collaborators have given up hope on finding their fated mates after a century of searching. It's up to Julian and Eldrich to remind them of the power of love with their unlikely tryst.
Stone of Power is epic fantasy with a male/male enemies to lovers romance and contains a trickster who has lost his magic, an uptight physician who does everything by the book, a fickle goddess, a vague prophecy, and two elves waiting for their yet-to-be-met fated mates. SoP is a heady mix of mystery-solving elves and romantic humans who hate each other (until they don't) and takes place 100 years before Circles of Light, the start of the elves' romances. The six books in the Farbonnur Elves series are best read in order with a guaranteed happily ever after at the end of the series.
The humans' story was previously published as a 35,000 word novella, The King's Physician.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2022Fantastic! Outstanding! Phenomenal!! The world building in this was phenomenal!! Magic, elves, a goddess and a trickster all come together to defeat an evil blood mage! King Karl has died, and his son King Korgon is in power, but not for long, someone is trying to kill him. Julian was Korgon’s friend and personal physician before he was framed and exiled. Korgon’s physician Eldrich is trying to save him, if he doesn’t get killed first. Faraki wants and is searching for his mate. Velden is sent to help bring down the evil blood mage. There is a fantastic group of secondary characters that help to make the story shine. The story line was fantastic, filled with beath, betrayal, magic, drama and love!! Overall, an outstanding read! The story was really well written, the pacing was smooth, highly recommend. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2024Ok honestly, not sure if it's me or not but this was so confusing at times. There are so many names, creatures, races and so on. All the different POVs don't help to make things easier either. While the blurb may indicate that Julian and Eldrich are the main characters and this is a romance between them, it only sort of is. It's insta-love but I found that strange since elves are the ones with bonded mates and they are both human. So they really don't know anything about each other besides they are attracted to each other and have fought together against Filvane for a few days. Now I'm sure it seems like I hated the book but I didn't. I actually enjoyed the story and will like to see the way everything unfolds throughout the series. I hope in the end, Valorias isn't the monster she seems to be. Hoping there's a method to her madness.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2023I love it when an author creates a new world - I can get lost in the new reality and completely escape!
Unfortunately, although the world was unique, there was just too much information and names thrown at the reader in too little time.
Very little character building - no depth to the characters and the story races through events without taking the time to create rich and rewarding relationships between the characters.
Character 1: I have dreamed of my destined match - oh, there's my match - let's bond.
Meanwhile, there are multiple "main characters" all of whom are looking for their destined match while fighting to save the world from - not really sure what they're saving the world from, there are references to the "empty" and a blood demon but what the heck are they?
Again, I really wanted to like the series - I was frankly too bored to finish book 1 - I simply didn't care about any of the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2022I absolutely love this book. I felt like we got a very good sense of the world that these characters are living in. I absolutely love any book with fantasy in it and this had that as well as romance and an overall story arc to defeat evil. I love these characters and really felt like I connected with them. While each of these characters had a primary agenda to defeat this evil blood mage some also have other goals to achieve in life and that is what we will see continue in book two. (I think) The book hooked me from the very beginning and it kept me engaged all the way through. It was not too fast or too slow, it was the perfect pace for me as a reader. * this is my honest and voluntary review for an ARC copy
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2024I will give this book a 4/5. Enemies to lovers and magic. Those are always a good combination. I will read the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2022This had some really good elements and ideas but it just didn’t click with me. There is a lot of names and information you need to piece together so you sort of know what’s happening. I found it kind of boring at times even though a lot was going on. The romance definitely fell flat as I never felt the connection between them. It wasn’t bad, just not as good as I thought it would be.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2022The Farbonnur Elves series, starting with the Stone Of Power, is such a complex story with an amazing world building. And the characters are so rich and interesting. I'm really excited to find another great high fantasy series!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2022This book follows the perspectives of four people. Two of them are the MC’s. Two of them are the ones in the actual relationship. The ones that the blurb talks around. They are more like glorified background characters in their own book.
To be fair, the boom itself is actually very good and very interesting, but it’s disappointing to have a book in the romance genre and have the actual romance be the secondary plot of two secondary characters. If this a longer arc for the two MC’s then why present it as otherwise?

5.0 out of 5 stars Farbonnur Elves Bk 1
It took me a little while to get into this story but once I did I read it in one sitting. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. This is an epic in the making, elves , humans, blood mages. At its heart though it is a love story, indeed several love stories, it is about overcoming despair and striving for a better life and a better world.
