Carrie Elks has once again hit out of the park with Strictly Business. You are going to fall in love with Myles and Ava’s story along with the cast of characters that surrounds the both. I don’t want to spoil or give anything way. It all starts when Ava returns from the first vacation she decides to take in years. Then she realizes Robert her boss has been let go by the New York Office and Myles her Arch nemesis has taken his place. Tension are running high & that’s putting it mildly. Soon Myles & Ava will realize they are made from the same cloth; they are both over protective, and put others before them but are grumpy when it comes to accepting help from others. I need to stop 🛑 I don’t want to ruin their story for you. Strictly Business will have you laughing, crying & saying what the what? I definitely did not want this story to end. Enjoy 😉 ❤️

    I was looking for a book that was a feel good rom com, and this book was exactly what I needed!!! This book was so well written, it made me laugh, made me emotional, made me swoon, made me fall in love, made me angry and happy, it made me smile, and it is one of the best books I've read this year!!!!
    I loved Ava!!! She is strong, smart, independent, and loyal. She is a fantastic heroine!!!! I would either want to be like her or her friend!
    Myles is such a complex character with so much going on beneath the surface. At first he seems so grouchy and angry. Very stern. When in reality he's just trying to figure things out. He also has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, between his professional life and his personal life. Once Ava starts to uncover all the layers that make up Myles, it is easier to understand why he acts the way he does. I really liked him, and was really rooting for him and Ava to be together!
    I loved the plot of this book!! It was different from the usual rom com, and the way Carrie Elks approached it was very fresh and exciting! So much fun!!
    Loved the secondary characters, especially Lauren and Sophie - Ava's best friends. They are what BFF's should be! Ava's mother was such a character, in every way!! The Salinger family was a handful! I really can't come up with words to completely describe them, they just need to be experienced! Loved Myles brother Liam! Can't wait for his story!!!
    I absolutely LOVED this book!!! It was a ray of sunshine in my life for the time I was engrossed in it!!! Seriously, one of the best books I've read this year! Do yourself a favor and jump into it - you won't be sorry!!!!

    Entertaining (but also a little ridiculous), this office rivals romance felt like it was strongly influenced by two of my favorite books - The Hating Game and The Spanish Love Deception. Which is good, because I loved those books... but there were also perhaps too many familiar components. That being said, this spins the office rivals situation in a whole new direction, with older leads (36/42) who find themselves making a baby together. When the co-worker you love to hate becomes your new co-parent, it certainly adds a whole different dynamic to the relationship. There's a lot that I liked about this, from the misunderstood, grumpy hero, to the unique take on the trope and the upbeat vibe. I loved trying to figure out where the story would go next. But I did get whiplash from how quickly they went from enemies/rivals to "let's make a baby together" and love - it misses on the subtler moments and transitions, but wins on the light and sexy tone.

    The story follows Ava, a woman who is ready to have a baby on her own. She's 36 and single, so now is the time if she ever wants to get pregnant. But just as she makes the decision, Ava's work life gets turned upside down. After their companies merge, Ava is forced to work with Myles, a man who rubs her the wrong way. Their first meeting didn't go well, and things have been rocky between them ever since. So it's a shock to them both when Myles offers to supply the... ah, baby batter... for Ava. Office rivals don't typically make a baby together - even the non-traditional way - and Ava still isn't sure that she even likes the man. But spending time together outside of the office changes their whole relationship, and it's not long before Ava is seeing an entirely different side of Myles.

    I can tell that Elks was going for a "he falls first" vibe (which I love), but the execution wasn't quite as successful as it is in some of my favorite romances - the little swoony moments didn't make my heart flutter, if you will. It's entirely possible that other readers will have a different experience. But I really enjoyed the light and sexy feel, I never complain about office rivals, and I found Myles to be super endearing. I loved the way they both complemented each other and related to each other so well, and their ages added an interesting element to the story. This definitely could've dug a little deeper, and I think it would've been a stronger book if it had - Elks spends time establishing Ava's dislike of Myles, then BAM, they're having a baby together. We get little peeks that Myles might feel a certain way about Ava, but it never really goes there. Their office relationship is only briefly explored. For me, that's where this falls short, but I think a lot of it is great and I enjoyed the journey. It was a solid introduction to this new-to-me author, and an intriguing series starter.

    Book #1 is mostly romantic with rather serious issues to deal with that kind of caught me off guard. I read Book #6 first which had a great balance of romance and comedy -- this storyline not so much. Infact, I can't even think of any lines in this story that gave even a chuckle. Ms Elks is a good writer which is why I gave 4 Stars but I found Myles' s story to be very disappointing - I love a brooding, intense and emotionally bound MC with a tender heart but this Myles just lacked something (the bathroom/cup scene was just weird) -- I don't know. what so say without giving plot away but the story did end ok. It hasn't dampened my interest in the series I've read and enjoyed Liam's Book #2 and moving onto Book #4. I might come back to Eli's Book #3 because I'm not a big sports romance person - will see.

    Other than a few grammar and punctuation issues, this was a good, light read. This new to me author tells a story well. At first, I thought Ava was catty in how she treated Myles, but fortunately she saw the light and her character's thinking and behavior improved. I liked both characters - Myles and Ava - and their story kept me interested. However, I didn't like that Ava was always the one to initiate and push for them to be together and would have preferred if Myles did some good old chasing as well. The book was a bit light on spice for me, but overall it was not bad.
