This is the 2nd book in the series and so far this is another excellent story. It’s also bringing out the atrocities of ethnic cleansing being done under the guise of a political expediency by a duly elected government. It’s significant since many in both the authority elements of government follow the orders of the duly elected without questioning or deciding that this action is counterproductive to a free society. Look at WW2 in retrospect and other actions taken by authoritarian regimes since. Yikes! The author clearly brings this perspective into the theme of the series making it a good read.

Well written, well edited, well ebooked. The second book in the series Echoes of War.
(From my review of the first book.) Lots of action, many booms, lots of broken and/or dead bodies. The bad guys are pretty much standard fair, men and women who want (and want to use) power. "The state is the embodiment of the people. It can't be wrong." What makes this series unlike almost all modern science fiction is that (1) some of the good guys are believers (in various flavors) and (2) the good guys are not terribly sure of rightness of the path they follow.

When politics prevent direct action on a "neutral" planet following the traditional communist program of killing everyone who who won't fit in (like the Holomodor in Ukraine in 1930s), the good guys use mercenaries. In this case, a female catholic military order mostly of former marines. Makes for an interesting story.

BTW: It was very hard to use that pronoun in the title. But, the world is changing.

This series has grabbed me from the very beginning with its original premise and themes. Echoes of War is grounded in the faith of main character David Cohen, an Orthodox Jew. David commands the Lion of Judah, the Terran Coalition's most technologically advanced warship in the fight against the League of Sol a repressive government based on Earth. In this latest book, David is tasked to find out what is happening on Monrovia, a neutral world on the Terran Coalition border. However, David soon finds himself wrestling with his orders and his own sense of what 'feels morally right'. I love the characters - they are empathetic, relatable, imperfect and 'strong and courageous'. A highly recommended series, Echoes of War is a great addition to the military/space genre. Looking forward to continuing David's story in further books :)

This is a fantastic series! I love a book where the characters are not perfect. They do however have a strong moral compass and live their lives with conviction.
The battle scenes are extremely well written and so wonderfully rich. The storyline moves at a consistent pace, and the moral dilemmas the characters face are thought provoking, add in the religious aspects, crooked governing bodies, space battles, nun warriors and this is definitely a book you won’t be able to put down.

God, Honor, tolerance and freedom of religion! and sci-fi, a very good mix of it all, I enjoyed this story but be aware there is a very strong religious beliefs running through this storyline, bud all in all a rousing adventure!
