Strung Out: A Needles and Pins Rock Romance Kindle Edition
I’m on the tour bus partying!
The text from my best friend, Ivy, is one of her last. When weeks stretch with no further contact, I travel to L.A. to track down the band known as Rageon and find Ivy.
As the daughter of a groupie mom, and of a rock star father who fatally overdosed, I know the dangers of the world my friend disappeared into.
My childhood friend, Gage, a musician who’s just come off tour invites me to crash at his place.
The last time I saw Gage in person, we were teens. He's everywhere on social media, so I’m prepared for the tattoo-covered rocker who answers my knock. What I’m not expecting to find is the sweet, sensitive teen I grew up with is now an irresponsible, partying playboy who lives for his next fix.
As the search for Ivy narrows, my relationship with Gage becomes more complicated. The tingling tug of attraction toward him is unexpected--and unacceptable. I’ll never allow myself to fall for a musician, especially one with a drug addiction.
Gage teams up with me to find Ivy, introducing me into the right circles and guarding my secrets.
My search for Ivy takes me places I never wanted to go...
And my heart is an unwilling passenger on that dark ride.
Strung Out: A Needles and Pins Rock Star Romance is 90k words which is around 300 print pages. It may appear to be double that as the download contains 2 versions of the same book, allowing readers to choose their favorite reading style of 1 POV or 3 POV

- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2017I love Rockstar Romance. When I read the sample for this book, I had to buy it, and I’m so glad I did. The writing was truly suburb. I was totally sucked into the story, finishing the entire novel in two sittings.
Scarlette and Gage are former stepsiblings, but it’s apparent from the onset they were always more. As adolescents they were best friends, and that’s the real hook for me. Their relationship, as told in snippets from the past, was very innocent. The author handled this subject without making it seem inappropriate, which has been all the rage lately in the “step-brother/step-sister” romance.
“Scarla,” as she likes to be called now, has grown apart from Gage in the years since their parents divorce. Her mother has always had a penchant for rock stars, and that plays significantly into the plot.
When Scarla’s friend disappears after a concert, she shows up at Gage’s house in hopes he can help track her down. Gage is not the boy she remembers, but a rockstar in his own right. Worse yet, Gage has fallen victim to the whole lifestyle that Scarla abhors.
Due to her mother’s past indiscretions, and a plot twist that is revealed piece by piece throughout the story, Scarla has zero interest in a relationship with a musician. As much as she tries to fight the attraction, Scarla sees something beyond the flawed man she finds when she first arrives. But will it be enough for her to let down her guard?
If you like music and romance, give this book a read. You won’t be sorry.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2017I fell in love with this book. It does have drug us and abuse as a large part of the storyline so keep that in mind before reading.
Gage is a drug addict who happens to be a famous musician. Scarlette is his former stepsister and she needs some help and a place to stay (because she is completely broke thanks to her mother) while trying to find her best friend who went missing while hanging out with a band. We learn a lot of facets of each main character. The main characters are messed up, but trying to be ok (sometimes a lot more successfully than others). Great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2016I liked this book. It was a different way to view the world of rock stars and their families and ups and downs.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2017Really interesting book, I enjoyed it a lot. I felt like I was having an adventure in the music industry, though I have no idea what it's like.
I sympathized with the main character, and liked how she was trying to help her friend. I though her relationships were interesting, especially the mother and the attraction she felt for the male lead, even though he had his problems. It was also a great amount of spicy material, but it added to the story and didn't feel like it ground to a halt when the smexy stuff happened.
I liked it and look forward to reading the next book and more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2016I friggin loved this book, it was down and dirty, and took me places I wasn't sure I wanted to go. But I went and I wasn't sorry. Thanks so very much for the great read, can't wait for the next book, Lyrica. Rock on!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2016The writing and editing is sound and the hero is a dream boat, but the heroine, for me, was hard to connect with. Overall, a good read, but the book ends 48% through and is repeated after a teaser of book 2.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2016I really wasn't sure about this book when I first got it, but damn it was just so good. Loved it
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2017Strung Out by Lyrica Creed turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Reading the blurb, I had a bit different opinion of the book in my mind and even though it was totally different from my expectations, it wasn't a disappointment.
I have seldom read books with "Hollywood" and "music" as the background and I can say with surety that I had never read a book that involved one of the main characters struggling with substance abuse. It was surprising, a bit uncomfortable at times because I wasn't used to with the subject matter but it plays out well in the story and doesn't overshadow the story in its essence.
Our hero, Gage, is a very famous singer and guitarist, who gets thrown into the Hollywood limelight and with it comes the vices of such a lifestyle. He is fighting his demons but it's not that easy for him to let go even after trying many a times cuz he never finds the right motivation to do so. Our heroine, Scar, is a good girl who has struggled most of her life to be somebody and find her place in the world by putting everything she holds dear to a side but she always tends to second guess herself and her choices. Gage and Scar, ex step-siblings who always (knowingly and unknowingly) held a candle for each other in their hearts cross paths once more when Scar returns to the States after spending a few years in Belize, in search of her best friend who had come to the States and apparently vanished without a trace.
The Good:
The story is one of passion, love and sacrifice, one's motivation and muse, one's reason for never giving up, be it love, dreams or one's life in general and Lyrica navigates through the emotions in her own, authentic way. The story unravels slowly but surely. The chemistry between the characters is tangible and believable. Writing is good and the best part is, one could read this book in both 1st and 3rd person point of view.
The Not So Good:
The pace was a bit too slow for me, not too slow to get on my nerves but slow none the less! Also sometimes I'd get lost while reading cuz I wouldn't know the background to certain characters or their situations and the scenes wouldn't make sense (though they would later on but the initial confusion would stay with me anyway). Character description, emotionally was done well, but not so well physically. It was hard for me to picture the characters in certain places and emoting certain feelings physically.
All in all, a good read, taking us through the highs and lows of a life of fame one chooses for themselves or the one that's thrust upon them and how they could navigate through it with help of people who love them and care about them and are willing to change themselves for the them for good. The sacrifices made in the name of love that ultimately benefits everyone and shows us that love not only finds a way but also leads it.
I give this book somewhere between 3.75~4 stars and thank the author from the bottom of my heart for sharing this story with us.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a delightful find!
I came across this book while browsing titles on Amazon, never having heard the author’s name before or read any previous reviews. I read the synopsis and it seemed to have everything I like in a novel with a music related background...yeah, I’m a bit of an addict when it comes to reading musician/music themed books.
I was also delighted by the option given by the author to read the book in either the first point of view or the third point of view, or both if the reader so wished as both reading styles were included in the one download...great value for money in my opinion. So download it I did and dove straight in.
Lyrica Creed has developed a writing style which flowed well and more importantly, is devoid of any annoying and habitually over used phrases or grammatical errors so much in evidence in many of the eBooks I have read and which often ruin an otherwise potentially good story line. Needless to say, within a few pages I was hooked in and intrigued with how the story was progressing.
The character structure and development is full and builds throughout the book as you learn more about the two lead protagonists. Scarla is obviously a strong, well rounded young woman who has learned values throughout her life despite the sorry excuse she has for a mother and the situations her mother has exposed her to at a young age. Gage is...your fairly typical hardnosed, drug snorting, alcohol swilling, Axe wielding womaniser with the touring life of a rock star guitarist/front man having afforded him all the trappings of the rock’n’roll life style.
Scarla and Gage are supported by a cast of great characters who are as equally well written and who add so many layers to the story.
While some of the issues covered in this book are harrowing, they have been handled in a way that is relevant to the storyline and supports and deepens your understanding of how it effects the character and those around them.
By the end of the book...not a cliff hanger I’m pleased to say, I had fallen in love with Gage, loved the direction Scarla was heading in and couldn’t wait to download the second book to find out what happens to this wonderful couple.
If this is the first book Lyrica Creed has released and it would appear from my brief investigations that it is, then bravo Ms Creed. I have thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully painted pictures you have decorated my head with...I will be avidly looking out for future releases from this talented new writer who has grabbed my attention and made reading this book such a pleasure.
Now, I’m off to get my teeth into some more Scarla and Gage in the second book Hung Out: A Needles and Pins Rock Romance
