Sugar Dom (Sugar Daddies Book 5) Kindle Edition
Their off-limits relationship nearly destroyed them both. So why can’t they let go?
Detroit crossed a line into the taboo when he fell in love with his best friend’s dad. There’d been a time when he believed Payne might love him too. Occasionally, he’d caught glimpses of something in Payne’s eyes. Then, they’d been outed. Now, they’re over, and Detroit isn’t the same. He’ll never be the same.
Payne believes in discipline and control. So much so, he owns a club where people pay lots of money to be punished by him. Detroit is the only person who’s ever tested his will. Almost losing his son over the man brought back his strength. No one is worth that loss, except he can’t let go. The memory of the way Detroit shook him to his core won’t stop haunting him. He doesn’t know how to move past it.
Now that Detroit is living and fighting in Vegas, hundreds of miles from Payne, he’s trying to start over. That is, until a single moment changes everything.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2025Delicious! If you enjoyed Micah and Wyld's story...which, come on, you'd be weird not too 😁... Then Payne and Detroit's entangling will blow you away and complete you!!!😉 They are sexy beasts! And understanding what makes Payne tick and Detroit tock is enthralling. Very vividly wrought these two MC's. This little family will break you apart and painfully put you together again. You will bleed and never forget them. I highly recommend this crazy ride!😋😄😚
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2018Sugar Dom is the fifth book in the Sugar Daddies series and I loved it!
Payne and Detroit were explosive together, but before they could fully be together, they had things that needed to be worked through.
This story will have your emotions all over the place, but the emotion that you'll feel the most is hurt. My heart broke for them both, and when they finally were able to come together, my heart about burst. It was beautiful.
I also loved the little tease we got that was worked in with this story about the next book in the series.
This book is definitely worth the read.
4 big stars!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2023There's a warning at the beginning of the this book that said something like "warning, all the triggers" and boyyy was that the truth. This was darker and angstier than the other books in this series so far. Kinda similar in feels to Maverick and Zander' story, but with a lot more conflict between the two main characters as they sorted out their relationship. Despite all the angst and dark bits though, it was still a good read and had a really good happy ending you can look forward to.
Minor spoilers so skip if you want, but those triggers would be on page suicide attempt, talk of child abuse in the past (not any on page), and talk of grooming/sex between a minor and an adult (also not on page, just references to the past), among others.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2018One of the things that I love about Charity Parkerson's work is that she is true to the characters. Even when they are horribly broken, beyond dark, not the most comfortable to read about, and need things that would send most people running screaming into the night, she's true to them.
This is one of those books. She states at the beginning that this one has "All the triggers" and it will for some. You just have to keep in mind that the light needs the shadows to be seen. And sometimes those that reside in the dark have the brightest of souls and deserve to be loved for who they are!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2023Too much emotional pain in this one, and as a Dom he should have been better. Detroit deserved more.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2020I liked this one a lot. Payne and Detroit were both a little broken, but their love was strong. They were an interesting and likeable couple. This book does have some themes that might be a trigger for some people, but they are handled well. I especially that it didn't have a love can cure anything attitude. That made them more real. Trigger warning: suicide attempt.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2022So emotional! This book has triggers, but oh my stars it will grab your heart and rip it out, tear it to pieces, put it back together and hand it to you!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2019Payne is one of my favorite characters. Detroit is as well. The journey these two go on to find happiness is wonderful. Payne is a jerk most of the time but that is why I like him so much. Only one person can break that hard shell he's built around him. Detroit has some issues to work through and everything he went through I felt. I love that about Charity's book. I even cried a bit in parts. A great read.

3.0 out of 5 stars I didn't like this one
While I love this author, this pairing was really not my favourite. I disliked Payne the entire book. He has no real redeeming features. I was hoping Detroit would get over him and go out with someone else. I think if it weren't for the side characters, I might not have finished.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying conclusion for Detroit
I like this serious it is a real page turner. The MCs have some deep issues but the touch is light focusing on the HEA and not gruesome details of the past. I like it.
