Survive, The tale of Ballantyne Alysom: Lost in space with a megalomaniac in charge Kindle Edition
From the uncharted jungle to the corridors of power, it’s all about surviving.
Ballantyne Alysom is the Galaxy’s most famous explorer, a man loved by billions. Davis Jansen is the cameraman he takes to record his latest mission.
When things go wrong, they are marooned on a savage and uncharted planet.
The survivors need a leader they can rely on. Jansen watches and records it all as Alysom’s true character is revealed. He’s not the genial and fearless explorer that everyone sees.
The Far Explorer is a ship riddled with infighting and jealousy, Alysom is controlling and arrogant, nothing like the man that his reputation suggests.
Jansen’s efforts to expose the truth carry just as much risk as surviving on the planet did.

Review
The story of the 'FAR ADVENTURER' and its crew of technical genii, yes there's more than a few, told as a TV series, brings us to a cliffhanger time after time.
If some TV producer doesn't pick it up, the public will miss a treat.
New worlds are waiting to be discovered and this feels like a future history.
Don't miss it

- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2020Imaginative futuristic story about space exploration gone wrong, interwoven with the survivors' testimony on a television show about their harrowing ordeal after crash-landing on a strange planet rife with deadly creatures and amazing discoveries. Author Richard Dee has either done tremendous research into the technicalities of everything related to space exploration, etc., or he's a dang genius. His writing is superb, his characterizations distinct, and his imagination - well - out of this world.
"Survive. The Tale of Ballantyne Alysom" is the first in a series. This series will appeal to fans of Science Fiction as well as those who like a good study in narcissism, for the main character, Ballantyne, is narcissism on steroids. Add to that the twists and turns, unexpected revelations, and underlying theme of corporate greed exploiting the expendable, and you've got a story that keeps you doing the, "just one more chapter," thing. This is another one on my Recommendation List. Five stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2021Part of the genius of Richard Dee is that you’re never really certain what tale he is setting out to tell you. On the surface this is an amazing story of the physical survival of a cameraman and his wife who have the misfortune to sign on to work for a megalomaniac news personality whose arrogance and paranoia endangers his entire crew. And let’s be clear, that story is outstanding and well worth the price of the novel. But it’s not the only story, and therein lies Dee’s brilliance. Because simultaneous to telling us of the disastrous expedition, Dee is also telling the tale of how the survivors attempted to tell people what happened to them—and they find that there are a great many people who will stop at nothing to keep the truth from getting out. Whether he’s depicting a classic struggle for survival on an unexplored planet or the intrigues of supposedly civilized society on earth, Richard Dee has written another intense adventure that will grip you with both hands and not let go until you finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars This would make a great movie!
Wow. Not my usual genre but I'm so glad I decided to read this. Clever plot and great characters - I actually loathed the antagonist Ballantyne with a passion as his true character was shown. I
recommend this book highly whether you're a sci-fi fan or not!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're rich enough can you get away with anything?
This book needs a sequel. I read it through in one sitting as I was riveted by it. No spoilers here.

4.0 out of 5 stars When Megalomania Takes Root
Richard Dee's adventurer Ballantyne Alysom is a prime example of why megalomaniacs should never be in charge of anything! I enjoyed the story immensely apart from the fact that it lacked spontaneity...
