Swept Away (Rabbit Hollow Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,340 ratings

Tru Willis refuses to feel sorry for himself.

Sure, he’s a barren rabbit shifter who has to spend his heat alone every year. And of course, he’d love to have a mate and children of his own. But he’s too busy nursing wild animals back to health and babysitting his cute nieces and nephews to feel lonely.

Until someone starts leaving gifts on his doorstep. Sweet, handmade gifts that make Tru feel special and treasured. The gifts all smell of alpha–an alpha Tru has never met face to face.

One day Tru finds a letter on his doorstep instead of a gift. In it, the alpha requests to help Tru through his heat. He even leaves a photo of himself, and he’s breathtaking.

But the stranger doesn’t offer anything else. Just one heat. Just a handful of days, and then he’ll be gone.

Can Tru handle giving himself to a man he won’t be able to keep? And if he can’t, does he have the willpower to say no?

Swept Away
is shifter romance set in the omegaverse with MPreg, knotting, and nesting. It’s book one in the Rabbit Hollow series.

I desperately needed a book that was cheerful and creative after I read a very depressing and stressful book (“The Great Believers,” based on reality where absolutely nothing good happens — if you read it, don’t say I didn’t warn you, and for goodness sake, definitely don’t get attached to any characters — I have no idea why that book is a best-seller).

I was so stressed and depressed after reading it that I needed to find an up-lifting story with lots of imagination in it.

This book, “Swept Away,” thankfully met my needs.

Yes, throughout history life is full of suffering, often incomprehensible and extreme, but I read books to forget reality and stress, not be exposed to it raw and thus have to relive the horror.

In my precious downtime, I need something that makes me forget about stress, something which is so creative that my imagination goes to blissful, happy places. “Swept Away” is such a book (thank goodness).

C.W. Gray is an instant, auto-magic, pre-order author for me. (Her couples are insta-fate/mates and seem to communicate mostly, and adore each other fantastically.) I have loved and bought everything she has written and wait patiently for new novels to appear.

Amy Bellows is an author that I enjoy 80% of the time, she sometimes has her couples work harder to be together or there is a bit more angst involved. I still enjoy her stories, but they don’t always catch me in the feels.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really couldn’t tell who wrote what parts or chapters. It seemed seem less and flowed nicely. I love all of the animals and side characters. I love the depiction of life for rabbit shifters, and the differences for eagle shifters. The world buildup was nice. I enjoyed this couples’ happy ending and look forward to the next couple.

And maybe another squirrel shifter will appear on page as someone’s mate. A ninja capable squirrel shifter if I could request it. Lol
A solid 4 stars and I will enjoy re-reading it again in the future.

I was looking for a short and sweet shifter romance and this absolutely delivered. I couldn’t put the book down. My heart hurt for Tru. He was ignored by alphas, talked about by omegas, and told he was infertile and judges by doctors. Griff is perfect for him. He’s sweet, thoughtful, loving, and protective. He wanted to give tru time and space when they first “met”, fearing he wouldn’t be wanted. I was overjoyed when they finally communicated they wanted to bond the eagle shifter way. I can’t wait for the next book!

I loved Tru and Griff and their story!
Just a splash of angst, some beautiful courting, lots of emotions and some over the top nesting.

Tru is a rabbit shifter who's never had an mate, no kits and no relationship. He's perceived as barren and doesn't smell right to alphas. And Griffin is an Golden Eagle shifter that has been searching for the one he's supposed to mate for life with, but the years has gone by without his fated mate.
All of that comes to an end when Tru and Griff finally gets a whiff off each other, but can a Eagle shifter that mates for life find love with a Rabbit shifter who's never had a mate.
A beautiful love story between two shifters who's been very lonely and desperately wants love and a family.

There’s nothing much to say about this story outside it is sweet with little drama and no OM/OW drama. The biggest conflict would be miscommunication, but it’s nothing egregious.

This story takes place in a paranormal shifter omegawerse with shifters of all kinds (if you know the webtoon “The Little Rabbit and her Panther”, it’s like that) with their own cultures and religions, something I greatly appreciate.

Griffin (H) is a golden eagle shifter, part of a race who believes in fated mates and mate equality and romance, while Tru (h) is a rabbit shifter where his culture dictates omega rabbits gets the glory of child rearing and yearning for love while alpha rabbits hit it and quit it with no need to supply child support.

Due to differentiating cultures, Griffin and Tru navigate this brand new relationship from strangers to lovers to mates. And thankfully, with a bit of communication, everything goes smoothly.

Again, this was a sweet read, if a bit not exciting. I’m happy for the lack of internal drama, but perhaps I was hoping for external drama. From a literary standpoint, there was a lot of unrealistic telling rather than showing.

As someone familiar with Amish woodworking, high chairs and bunkbeds take more than a day. My suspension of disbelief brook with all that.

    But again, a sweet read. 3.5 ⭐️s.

This was a short sweet low angst story. If you are looking for a short fluffy read this is the book for it.

Griff is a golden eagle shifter and Tru is a rabbit shifter. Even though no one would think they would fit together fate has other ideas. I loved all the little gifts Griff would leave for Tru at the beginning. He was the perfect alpha. Because they were from 2 different cultures (rabbit and eagle) they had to learn about what each other wanted and it helped that they had good communication. This story was not very steamy but it had a lot of fluffy, loving, feels. The ending was so sweet and I just loved the babies.

The was nothing to dislike in this adorable novel. I'm not going to go into details, as I hate spoilers, but this book is full of feels, love, and very little to no angst. The only thing I'm sad about, is having to wait for the next in the series to come out! I highly recommend this book to those who like love stories with shifters and mpreg, and the writing style of this book was just perfect. Once again, CW Gray and Amy Bellows have knocked it out of the park!

I expected a lot more from this book as it's a Collab by two authors I like a lot and are very gifted at writing shifters. I didn't dislike it completely, but I didn't like it either. There was a lot to build on this plot because it's such a good plot. It feels wasted. I missed a lot of the heat and snuggles Amy writes so well. It was just shallow. :/

I have enjoyed other books that these two authors have written by themselves and this collaboration is terrific as well. I love the overall story of this series that has a town of mostly rabbit shifters who have always lived the same way until a golden eagle shifter comes to town. The romance between the two main characters is sweet and lovely and I enjoyed it a lot.

I really loved this book. Yes, it was quite short, but the story made perfect sense and felt complete. The plot was well-constructed, filled with warmth and feel-good moments. I particularly appreciated how the characters seemed destined for one another, with their lives intricately intertwined through their bond. The moments in their shifting forms were absolutely adorable and added a unique charm to the story.

The author did a fantastic job of creating a world where love and connection are at the forefront, making the bond between the characters feel genuine and profound. Despite its brevity, the narrative was rich with emotion, and the pacing was just right. Every scene contributed to the overall arc, leaving me satisfied yet wanting more from these characters and their world. The book left me with a smile on my face, and I’ll definitely be returning to it whenever I need a dose of happiness.

A different take on mating and fate (fated mates) that takes into consideration, without analizing it exhaustingly, the way culture and education (tradition) influence relationships between Alphas and Omegas in a paranormal / shifter world.
The bit of angst in this story is created by false suppositions and misunderstandings between the golden eagle alpha (who believes in fated mates and the care and devotion an alpha should pamper his fated omega with) and his rabbit omega mate that grew up in a "culture" where alphas are alphaholes.
But all is well that ends well and there are some beautiful surprises 🙂
A nicely writen story and a pleasant read. Recommended.
I intend to follow the Rabbit Hollow series.
