TWAS THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is a standalone cozy mystery with a happy ever after. This is the last book in the series and I hate to see it go but one never knows when the good King Arthur will show up again and of course he will have the lovely Gwen with him.

It is a Christmas eve and everyone is sitting around when they start asking Gwen for a story. Since Gwen comes from generations of witches she always has the best stories. So she begins. One year several days before Christmas her assistant and friend told her that there was food missing from the shelves at the cafe. Every night any food left over from the day was put toward the front to be sold first the next day. There were items missing for a couple of days and at first she though perhaps she was mistaken so they decided to count the items and see what happened. The next day several items were missing. The cafe was always locked so no one could get in and they just couldn't believe any of the employees would steal from the cafe. They were all a big family and if they wanted something all they had to do was ask and it would be given to them.

Since Gwen is a witch she knew that maybe something was happening in her other world. She decided to set up a trap. She put up cameras and aimed them at the food shelves. The next morning all was well except for a 9 minute period when the camera malfunctioned. All the food was gone again. So Gwen decided to just spend the night in the cafe and see if she could catch the thief. By this time she was starting to have an idea who it was. Sure enough after midnight around one or two in the morning she had a visitor.

This is a great Christmas story and a great lesson for us all. I thought it was a great ending for the series. Gwen and Arthur are married and they are having twins. You might even be able to find out the sex of the babies if you don't already know. A great series and a great read, very enjoyable and entertaining. I definitely recommend it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 11/21/2020

We've been following Gwen and Arthur from the time she frees him from a medieval suit of armor up to what they're expecting is the Wild Hunt ending with demons taking over the world. This episode turns into a scavenger hunt through time to find the stone that will allow the gathering of lost souls. Each new location and person from the past ups the suspense as to whether they will be successful or not. When it's over, you feel that the loose ends have been tied up, but not in such a way that we won't be seeing them again in a different series of mysteries. I hope so at least.

I love this series! I’ve always been fascinated with Arthurian legend and these books strike a lovely balance between past and present, good and evil and the hope love brings.

I do not want this to be the last book in the series. I have totally enjoyed getting to be a part of Gwen and Arthur’s growing relationship. I would love to keep seeing their life together as they solve mysteries.
Gwen, Arthur and their posse have to stop Cedric King from collecting all the departed souls and using them to become more powerful. With the help from some very important spirits, Gwen is able to discover Cedric’s plan. The spirits guide her to where she needs to be, but Arthur guides her to have more faith in who she is, who they are together.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

'Twas the Knight Before Christmas is book 5 of The Avalon Cafe series. Gwen, Arthur and Merlin are back, preparing for Christmas and awaiting the birth of Twins. Hollie's arrival marks the continuing battle against evil that has been building in the previous books.
This book is packed with the incredible characters that feature throughout all these books as well as some unexpected new ones. A beautiful blend of fiction and legend and wonderful writing make this a book, and series, that I absolutely love. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Worth 5* and more.

I have loved this series from the start and am quite sad now it's finished. I have really loved getting to know Gwen and Arthur and all their friends. Hopefully our 'Hermione ' will soon give us a new cosy magical and romantic series to get our teeth into. In the meantime I will continue reading her alter egos steamy romances set on the other side of the world.
