About the author

ONE PENNY A STORY, I called across the playground.
Entirely unusual, given how shy I was (and still am), for me to be shouting anything across a playground.
But there I was, a double-sided sheet of narrow ruled paper (I've always been kind of particular about the paper I like. Back then, narrow ruled. Now, grid.) in my hand, selling stories I hadn't yet wrote.
Every line featured a different title. I'd lay on my bed the night before thinking of them all, probably singing along to Boyzone songs as I did [hey, don't judge... I see you over there like you never thought you were destined to marry a boy band singer...].
My school friends could buy a Mona original for one penny. One penny!
They'd pick the title they liked, hand over their sweaty penny, and I'd write the story for them.
And I've never grown out of writing stories.
Now, I write cozy mystery stories from my den in the Peak District, and when I'm not writing them, I'm reading them.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2018Ms. Marples mysteries are always interesting. Her characters are beginning to feel like real people to me. In many ways, Waterfell Tweed is much like any small town, only with more murders. When someone that almost no one in the village knows well, dies in a fall, it is up to Sandy to determine that it was not an accident and to find the killer . There was a new character that is going to become a permanent cast member, it seems. Enjoy the mystery. Good reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2025I absolutely loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2023I liked the wide inclusion of the people in a small town. I am a bit of a speed reader and was sad to finish this book.
Will be definitely following this author. As as almost eighty year old Aussie now living in Texas I really appreciate a good book .

- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2018I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. There was an accidental death, but the wife felt sure it wasn't an accident. Sandy starts looking into it and it was definitely a surprise who the accidental murderer was. There's a little light romance, tough love from friends and some good laughs in there too. The plot was really good. I'm looking forward to reading more of Mona Marple's books.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2021This is another great book with a surprise ending.. This series has no sex or language that is offensive, and very few errors. I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't do book reviews
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.
My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.
If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give
If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.
Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away.
Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable read
This book was a gift. Ms Marple is a new author to me. I am now going to look for more of this series. Great characters that I want to know more about.

4.0 out of 5 stars Food for thoughts
I really enjoyed this story but for a different reason than the great writing, lovely characters and well developed plot, that being the deep thinking that some events narrated have sparked, about loss, about friendship and justice. Mona Marple is an excellent writer and I can't recommend enough to dig into her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waterfall Tweed
This is one of the best series I have read funny, entertaining and mysterious. Did he fall or was he pushed that was the question, the answer will surprise you, it did me can't wait for the next book
